One of the most dangerous things in the world is not being able to say no to people because you don't want to upset them or dissapoint them. This will completely ruin your life in every way possible, at work, in your private life, your sex life and your friendships. Upsetting people is better than traumatizing yourself.

notice how mike blames other people for causing his fights with el and doesn't own up to his mistakes

but he blames himself for causing his fights with will and actually apologizes and realizes he was wrong.

In order to fully respect mentally ill and disabled people, you have to give up the idea that the world is a fair place where everyone eventually gets what they deserve and work for. Because if you don't consciously challenge that mindset, you'll find yourself directly or indirectly blaming struggling people for their struggles. Facts are that disability and illness can hit anyone, and facts are that sometimes there isn't an effective treatment - and those are facts that you have to face and internalize if you want to be a genuinely supportive ally.

jonathan had to check his dads car trunk for his missing brothers fucking body.

the first words jonathan’s dad said to him after years and pushed him against a wall were “you’ve gotten stronger”

jonathan was working outside of school when he was around 16/17 to pay rent. he may even have dropped out entirely, seeing as he was never noted to take any classes, i think, but the official wiki says he was 16 in season one, so he didn’t graduate

jonathan made breakfast every day for the three of them, himself joyce and will

jonathan was called a slur and compared to his father, as well as told it’s not a shock that his brother was dead, and that his whole family is a disgrace, and that he probably killed will

jonathan was forced to kill a rabbit when he was around 10

not only did jonathan have a missing brother, but he thought his mom was loosing it too, imagine if it was just her brain making up things like hopper said his did

he would have had a mom stuck in denial with a dead brother, and he’d end up having to pretty much pay all the bills

because his mom (rightfully) didn’t believe will was dead, he had to go and make ALL the funeral arrangements for him

he practically raised will. obviously loonie wasn’t there, and even Joyce wasn’t, because they needed money, we know jonathan regularly watches Will like a parent

he blamed himself for will going missing

he had no friends. other than will, and eventually nancy and argyle, but at school. none.

he had no support system. even his mom admitted directly she hasn’t checked in and doesn’t even know what he’s doing. he’s had no comfort other than headphones.

he was comforting and soothing his mom when will went missing

had ti watch his brother be possessed (obviously it was WAYYY worse for Will, who WAS possessed, but yeah)

he was also thrown against the wall like five times and had a stool smashed onto his back, and something with his leg i think, he was SERIOUSLY limping, though that could have been the back injuries, when he and nancy were in the hospital, and STILL got up

he threw away his dream of going to NYU since he was like SIX for Nancy.

and then was terrified of leaving his family, so he didn’t tell her that he stayed close to his home, and now he’s worried she’d do what he did, and throw away her dreams, so he still doesn’t tell her. and he feels guilty about not telling her, because he’s horrified that they’ll get into a huge argument and ‘turn out like his parents, divorced and his kids hate him’

also had to then deal with his house being shot up and once again being a parent

his only way of relieving stress is to get high, he has no other emotional outlet, the only person that has essentially ever checked up on him was argyle, after 17 years of hell

WHAT THE HELL???

Y'all...I was just thinking about something. So after the fight between Will and Mike at Rink O' Mania, when Mike goes to make up with Will, he refers to himself as a "Total self-pitying idiot."

Now I want y'all to remember the context of this fight. Mike and Will were looking for El, and Mike got annoyed at Will because Will didn't tell him how El was feeling. He wasn't mad about El lying to him, he was mad that Will didn't tell him El was lying to him.

Then when Will brings up that he didn’t know El hadn't told him anything, Mike starts going after him for sabotaging their day by saying, "You were rolling your eyes, you were moping, you were barely talking. You basically sabotaged the whole day." Again, Mike is not actually angry about El, he's angry about the fact that Will was not talking to him.

Will seems to finally catch on a little bit here and he asks, "What you're mad that I didn't talk to you? Seems like you made it super clear that you're not interested in anything I have to say."

And Mike follows by saying, "That's just not true!" And we get the little back and forth here about how Mike only called a few times over the last year.

And then, we get to the point at which Mike says, "Maybe you should have reached out more," and asks "Why am I the bad guy?" Mike wanted Will to reach out to him.

So when Mike apologizes in Will's bedroom

Mike wasn't apologizing for being a self-pitying idiot because he was mad at El for lying to him, Mike was apologizing for being a self-pitying idiot because he was pitying himself over the fact that he didn't think Will wanted to pay attention or talk to him anymore. Which means, Mike has been moping for months over the fact that Will hasn't reached out more, and it was Mike who was moping at Rink O' Mania because Will wasn't paying attention to him.

And it makes the entire rest of their conversation make way more sense because Mike was never planning to bring up El in that apology, it was Will who implied that it had anything to do with El.

But think about it: Noah Schnapp ACTIVELY and CONTINUOUSLY goes out of his way to prove his love and support of Byler. He talks about it in interviews, calls the Duffer Brothers themselves to figure out Will’s sexuality, puts his heart and soul into acting (down to the finest of details of Will’s interactions with Mike to prove his character is gay), and seeks his fans on social media, to not only like our posts, but even comment his excitement on them as well!? Noah Schnapp is the king of Byler, and we don’t deserve him. In this essay, I will
