I've finally drawn an artwork using a graphics tablet! I was drawing on my phone back then and I had to adjust on the hand-eye coordination and feel of using a tablet. Changing software is actually harder than it looks. Previously I used Ibis Paint X on android and have switched to Medibang Paint Pro on Windows 10. I'm sorry if it looks a bit clunky and I've somewhat downgraded my skill because I am still adjusting😂 So far, I think I prefer using the tablet as it feels better and more dynamic but I still need more practice though. How'd I do on my first attempt? 😅 . To make this first attempt special, I have decided to draw @freedz_art 's The Gentle Rock because how can you not?! The Manobos are the most numerous of the ethnic groups in the Philippines that are primarily located around Northern Mindanao, Central Mindanao and Caraga Regions. (Mindanao is the southernmost major island group in the Philippines). Fact: I live in the Caraga Region! "Kasinungalingan, Lies, Deceit" Careful with your tongue. You might already have bound yourself with the shackles of your own karma. What goes around comes around. . This piece was incredibly challenging for me! I faced my irrational fear of snakes by trying to draw one (that includes looking at reference pictures of snakes and you can imagine the terror I felt) It took me so long to finish since I DREW AND DETAILED EVERY SINGLE SCALE on the snake. Also if you're curious, the writing on the waist shackle is Baybayin - the ancient Filipino Alphabet. It was tiring but I think it paid off and I enjoyed (also terrified) a lot. Of course there's still a lot of room for improvement. "Thalassophobia" . A reminder that art is about expressing oneself. It can be a catalyst for healing, and just setting free what the heart wants to say that cannot be put into words but into colors and shapes. Do not be limited by a style just because it gets the most likes. Try a style or stick to one if it best expresses you the most and it truly makes you feel better. Most of the time, I meet artists that feel sad because they get little engagement. I totally get that, it's easy to get lost with the numbers game in social media platforms. But I do try to remind myself why I started in the first place and remember that if we focus more on the likes, we kind of miss the point of art. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Those who resonate with your art will definitely appreciate and respond. As long as you feel free, you express and feel better by doing art, you're doing a great job and someone out there is glad you made your creations.
