I think I finally hit the point in my thirties ppl talk abt where I'm no longer doing things wanting or expecting approval

I feel like I spent the last ten years of my life worrying abt starting anything bc 1) it felt pointless or 2) i "wasn't good enough" to start it yet and now it's just like. w/e

Finally finished The Mist after like, six months. I can see why it's been such a big influence over time. I think a lot of the concepts regarding the titular mist, and the creatures that pervade it are striking. Though the cast ranged from unlikeable to paper thin, and holy shit King can be so bad at writing women, LOL. I can't entirely dislike this story as a Silent Hill fan, as the whole time I just kept noticing little things that the series has taken from it, but it was a bit of a slog.

Cobbled together some more cover art for NES games. One for the NES port of Pac-Man Championship Edition, and one for Kirby's Adventure.

Can't find the original artist for the Pac-Man cover, as they deleted their account (source), but the westernized version of the JP Kirby's Adventure logo is by Lazermutt4. I also used a restoration of Kirby waving by TechNickMarkIV, so they wouldn't look so grainy.

I actually think the US box art for Kirby's Adventure is fine, but I just prefer the simplicity of the JP box art:

i'm trying to cut out caffeine, right now it's day two and one thing i can say is i finally feel well-rested after eight hours of sleep. so that's good. the withdrawal is defo there but i moved my jogs to the morning and i'm drinking a lot of water so we'll see how today fares.

Whipped up a quick and dirty cover art for the original Super Mario Bros. for my game library. I've been playing this game a lot this weekend and... I am not a fan of the western box-art for this game, to be honest.

I originally planned to crop the JP cover art, with the logo pasted atop:

...which I think is really nice, and conveys a lot of what the game is about! But no matter how I cropped it, I felt like there was just too much visual information.

So I ended up redrawing the background over the span of two hours. Which you can see in the final product. It wasn't that hard, it was just my first time working with gradients, really. I think it looks fine, and it matches the simplicity of the cover art for later Mario titles.
