ONLINE SUBMISSION RULES
Please read the instructions below and submit your project accordingly. Please also be reminded that late submissions will result in a grade reduction. * All drawings listed in items 1-5 above (conceptual drawings, site plan, site section, floor plans and sections) should be placed on A1 size (594mm-841mm) posters used in landscape orientation. * You may decide on the number of the posters accordingly. * All posters should be designed carefully with proper hierarchy between individual drawings with correct scales. * The first poster should include a title block with the name of the project and the student. * All posters should be combined in a single pdf file named “name-surname_fjsubmission. pdf”, so that you can send us one file with properly ordered pages. Photos of the physical model should also be added individually to the same pdf file after the posters. * Your pdf file size should not exceed 30 MB.
TIPS ON REDUCING THE PDF FILE SIZE
Having large file sizes makes the evaluation process harder for everybody involved. Thus, we listed a couple of tips below concerning your pdf file sizes to avoid this problem. * Flatten your layers before exporting your photoshop files as pdfs/jpgs. It can be done by selecting all layers in the layers panel and clicking “flatten image” in the right-click menu in Photoshop. You may want to save a copy of your original file before flattening to protect your layers for future use, otherwise you will lose them irreversibly. * Please scale down your resolution. We do not need 300dpi (dots per inch / pixels per inch) images for online submissions. Most of the screens show only 72 pixels per inch. You can do that by clicking “Image” from the title bar and select “Image Size” in Photoshop. Here you should uncheck the “Resample” to preserve your sheet size. The resolution of 96dpi is reasonably enough for screen viewing in most of the cases. You may want to save a copy of your file before scaling down the resolution, if you intend to print your posters in the future. * If you are working with vector graphics, either uncheck the box “Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities” in pdf export settings in Illustrator; or export it as lower resolution jpg. * If you would like to reduce the file size further, you can use “save for web” feature on the file tab both in Photoshop and Illustrator. This feature will generate small-size jpg and png files with high resolution that are to be displayed on screen only. * You can use Adobe Acrobat or other online services to combine all your files (posters + model photos) into a single pdf file.
