this isn't recent but it's one of my favorite style studies on my sketchbook. i saw an art style on pinterest where i really liked how the eyes looked so i wanted to try and mimic it and i think i succeeded!

i used to hate shading using pencils but i found a technique that makes it not only look good but also really fun for me to do.

i really like how this looks!!

art progression throughout the years

i've been a digital artist since early 2020, and since then, my art has changed drastically.

this was the earliest digital art i made

there are so many aspects in the artwork that are so wrong and if i could, i'd never look back at it. but this was the foundation of my interest in digital art, so its significance is unavoidable.

towards the later part of 2020 though, i changed my art style drastically because i started getting more experimental.

a lot of the techniques that i used in this artwork i don't carry into my current art style, but this allowed me to become more efficient with making art because i had no regard for how messy the lining looked.

fast forward 2021, i got even more experimental with my art. and it's very obvious because all of my artworks don't look consistent with each other, but it was a very productive year for my art!

all of these were made in the same year. these were all very monumental for my art because these had essentially built the basis of how i went about with my sketching and rendering

this was also the year i had created the most art! i was at my peak because of the pandemic and because i consumed a lot of media that allowed me to explore my art in such a way that made me enjoy making it.

in 2022, i started to settle on an art style that i enjoyed. i was comfortable with how i did the rendering and i enjoyed the processes a lot! i was still experimental but i was mostly focused on improving my current art style.

my art started looking a bit more consistent with each other! i settled on a sort of semi-realistic but still very cartoonish style because i liked the way it looked and i felt like i had found a style that i could call my own.

however, in 2023, i began to enjoy the art i created less and less. i wasn't enjoying the process anymore, and anything i made, i didn't think was good enough.

although these look great, i wasn't proud of it because this was the time when i started wanting to monetize my art. i posted a lot of my art online but it wasn't getting the reach that i wanted.

in 2024, i didn't make as much art as i used to, but i was making self-indulgent art to try and bring back the fun i had when i started out.

this was a self-portrait(?) i did for myself on my birthday last year.

in 2025, i'm making it my mission to bring back my passion for art. so i bought a sketchbook.

i'm starting over again with art! and oh, it has been the best decision i have ever made. i've never felt more free with my art.

favorite works

here are some of my favorite art pieces that i've done since starting digital art! and of course, i will indulge myself by talking a little bit about each one. these aren't in any particular order.

wonwoo - this was part of a series that i wanted to do. i wanted to draw all 13 members of a kpop group that i liked but i only got around to drawing 5 out of 13. this was my favorite out of the 5 of them because of how the rendering turned out. i particularly really like how the hair and the sleeves look.

self-portait - this was a self portrait i did back in senior high. until now, i still think this is the best self portait i've done because, again, the rendering looks incredible. i also like how i executed this sort of concept.

pokemon art style study - this was an art project i did for my friends when we were at our peak playing pokemon unite. i drew myself and them with their mains! i enjoyed this a lot because i adore how pokemon does their character designs. i think i was able to capture the style a little bit.

an original character - this is one of the most successful art studies i have ever done and i'm particularly proud of how the character pose and design turned out because of how minimal i went with the details.

hi!

hi! i'm mea, an art hobbyist. i draw for fun and it's my favorite hobby to indulge in whenever i have the time.

i have been drawing since i was in 6th grade and decided to take it seriously during 9th grade when i started to explore digital art.

i take inspiration from several artists online but these are the few artists that i want my own style to gravitate towards:

ActuallyRea - an incredible character design artist

onenhillion - a very poetic scrapbook-esque artist

both of these artists are incredible with their work and they inspire me every day to keep creating and to indulge myself in art that i enjoy.
