You know what bugs me? Poor Will has been sitting around for 6 months having NO idea that his wife and someone I’m sure he considers to be a good friend (and the freaking god-father of his child(ren?)) have been having this secret, unspoken, melodramatic…whatever the hell it is. Now, he’s at the hospital thinking his wife might die, and just assumes that JJ will want Spencer to be there if/when she wakes up because he thinks they’re good friends.
Will. Deserves. Better.

people don't fully address how much lil nas x does for the lgbtq+ community, and yet they constantly praise someone like harry styles for what he does by wearing a dress. lil nas x is openly and unapologetically gay, addresses his past internalized homophobia and the struggles of coming to terms with who you are, and is openly flamboyant and feminine. but him and many other black, queer, and poc artists have their contributions pushed aside while the spotlight remains on cishet white men.
for a long time, people in the music industry have fought against gender norms and showed that they were different. there are countless black and queer artists from the past that changed people's ideas about femininity. and yet, someone like harry styles wears a dress one time and is praised for eternity for helping the queer community. it's important to have allies break down gender norms and fight for equality, but it's also important to recognize the black and queer people who made this possible. lil nas x deserves a lot of credit for what he's done to help the lgbtq+ community.

Arrow 4x06 “Lost Souls” Meta: Two Souls Lost and Found In Each Other
Oh my God this episode. I can’t think of an emotion on the wheel of emotions that wasn’t landed on at least once in 4x06. There was humor, there was angst; love, compassion, understanding, frustration, fear, guilt, and so many more. It would be easy to assume that the souls in question would be Ray, believed dead but held captive, and Sara, recently returned from the dead and still not herself.
But no “Lost Souls” was about Oliver and Felicity. All about Olicity. These are two people who were lost and adrift for various reasons that found one another, lost themselves in each other and found the best versions of themselves there in that beautiful space between them.
I want people to understand what this episode did: It finally paid a full stop to any naysayers who questioned the authenticity and the viability of Oliver and Felicity as a couple. There were so many references to marriage in the episode that I do not think were a coincidence; a declaration between them that they would make it because they’d do the work necessary to keep a relationship viable. They are endgame. The writers did all but carve it into stone.
I would also like to point out, for those who do not watch The Flash, this week’s episode referenced the Queen’s Gambit sinking on Earth 2. Robert Queen became the Arrow instead. Why? Well because the writers want Oliver with Felicity and if they can’t do that, they’ll kill him. That’s right. There are only two options for Oliver Queen: Olicity or Death. If that isn’t the most succinct Anti-Lauriver stance to ever be taken, I do not know what is. I also do not think it a coincidence that both this revelation and this Arrow episode aired in the same week.
This entire week—whether it was on Arrow or not—was this DC TV universe setting up that Oliver is destined to be Felicity and only Felicity.
FYI: This meta is going to focus hard on Olicity. I’ll try to talk about some of the other characters, probably in their association to the Olicity storyline, but frankly this episode was 100% Olicity and that’s where all my feels are nesting. It is so pretty from view right now. Everything is Olicity and it is beautiful.

Arrow 6x03 “Next of Kin” Review: The Magic Is Still There
Third time is the charm for Arrow’s sixth season. This episode was the best one so far. If it keeps moving in this direction, this season will definitely be a return to Arrow’s former glory, last seen in season 4A.
Be prepared for whiplash because I got it watching and writing the notes for the review. I alternated from fangirling to snark. You can probably guess which parts got the snark; I’ll get to those. But first and most importantly…
OLICITY. O.L.I.C.I.T.Y.
We back baby! We resurrected! What a time to be alive.
Oh, God. We haven’t seen these kinds of quality Olicity scenes since Arrow’s heyday of S4A. It’s been so long I’m not even sure I’ve fully processed. Lately, it feels like with every spoiler and promo pic or paparazzi pic revealed, my feels take a beating. I freaked out on Twitter and said any tap to my feels is a TKO right now because it’s been so long. I’m outta shape. My training has lapsed.
If you are in this same boat, we need to get our asses in gear because the wedding(s) and reception are looming and we might die. We actually might die. Time for fangirl calisthenics.
This episode had a crap ton of Olicity parallels. I may even have missed some because I was too busy spiraling from all this return to former goodness. Fangirl spirals are crap for concentration and why my work productivity will likely be down somewhere around 5% and falling for a few days.
Let’s start with that first loft conversation when Felicity perched on the table—hello legs—and she and Oliver flirted like there was no tomorrow. That specific spot was so significant. It was right where Felicity broke up with Oliver because he was continuing to exclude her in regards to William. He wasn’t leaning on her like a partner should. She didn’t feel like he trusted her to be completely honest with her. It was a very, very dark day in Olicity history.
Cut to Felicity wearing a dress as bright as a beautiful sunny day and Oliver is talking to her about William and asking for her advice. Without him even telling her, she already knows exactly where he went wrong with William—much to Oliver’s chagrin (“How do you know that?!” HAHA). Felicity tells him to let William tell Oliver what he needs. It’s not encouragement to relax about the test.
And then…Oliver listened. Sigh.
Realizing he is not the one equipped to help William, Oliver recruits Felicity to tutor him for his test.
What follows is…Lord help me…a really great scene with William.
There. I said it. I actually liked the Felicity/William/Oliver scene.
It’s not my fault. It’s the power of Felicity Smoak. To quote my notes: “She’d make me like moldy cheese.” Which, I mean, this might be the same thing because that’s about as much emotion as I ever saw out of William.
In fact, when Felicity was babbling, I think we saw the first genuine smile out of that kid. Much like six years ago this week in 1x03 when Oliver saw Felicity and gave his first real smile. Queen men be smoaked y’all.
Felicity and William are blah-blah-blah about math. But this was a really good scene because it shows Felicity connecting to William. They are bonding over something that William and Oliver probably never will—a love of school. They’ll find their groove another way. Whereas Oliver told William not to panic about the test; Felicity let him know that it was okay to like school and to want to do well. That worrying about it was fine. Felicity Smoak gave William validation and that’s a big deal in a kid’s life. Then she took it a step further and made sure he knew the material so he wouldn’t need to panic anymore.
Bae is awesome. At absolutely everything she does. Including being a tutor, because William aced his test.
Afterwards, Oliver shows up once again at Felicity’s loft. And he’s holding a present for her—which kind of baffles her but she’s game for presents because…presents. She opens it up to reveal a key on a tennis ball keychain with a smiley face with glasses. He is such a mushy dork because he gave her a keychain that “looks” like her.
However, let me meta for a second. The keychain is a tennis ball. In 1x01 they were used as target practice; to show that Oliver was ready for this journey he was about to start in on. Cut to 6x03, and John now as the Green Arrow does the same thing. In this same episode, Oliver is giving a tennis ball. He’s ready for this next journey he is about to start on. He’s focused—just in a non-lethal way. His aim is true this time too.
Felicity and Oliver have a beautiful discussion about why they chose to play it cool on their reunion after the island. It was for William, who was clearly going through a lot and they didn’t want to overwhelm him. But Oliver saw Felicity and William together—something akin to when he saw Felicity in the hospital with Lyla and Baby Sara (JJ doesn’t exist)—and he finally saw that he could have his dream now. He just had to reach out for the golden ring—or hand out the keychain.
Oliver tells her that he knows that William’s life will be better for having her in it; the same as him. He says this with 3x20 music beginning to play. This echoes the exact thing Felicity said to Oliver in 3x20–that having Oliver in her life changed it for the better. It was a beautiful echo/parallel.
Once Felicity is assured that Oliver is sure, she attacks him with an aggressive kiss. Girl has been ready but waiting for the go ahead.
And here is my sole complaint about Olicity in this episode:
She was clearly starting to strip him naked and pushing him up against the pillar. And YOU FUCKING FADED TO BLACK?!!!!!!
Oh HELL NO.
HOW FRAKKING DARE YOU FADE TO BLACK ON THAT SCENE?!!!! My body was ready for OlicitySex. I had papers signed and everything for my impending death.
We moved the 9pm time slot. I’m adjusting my internal time clock each week for this because I’m not used to having to wait that long for an episode. I consoled myself that we would get the goods at this time slot and THIS IS WHAT YOU DO? DO NOT PLAY ME.
Stephen Amell said that he had a lot of shirtless scenes this season—and he’s not even the Green Arrow right now. So he’s not stripping down to tend to injury (Felicity inflicted ones don’t count). Ergo, boy is getting NEKKID and YOU JUST SAID, “NAH. ANOTHER TIME.”
FECK YOU. FECK YOU TWICE.
Scratch that.
Let them feck each other next time.
On screen.
