@ofcaptors - alaric !
custodians saw everything, so on top of being able to be closer to the love of his life who happened to work here, taeyong also got the inside scoop on the teachers here. his curiosity had naturally gotten the best of him while snooping through the teacher’s classroom one night, and had began opening closet doors and inconspicuous bins and things. he needed to do such things when he worked during the nights, so he could report suspicious things to the school to protect youths in what would eventually be his town. what he found in mr. saltzman’s classroom was something he wouldn’t report, considering it could expose ( and kill ) his supernatural secret identity.
he cleared his throat in the threshold of the door, pulling a huge bin of trash into sight outside the door. he’d been thinking through his plan of confrontation ever since; now that all the students and most staff had cleared for the day, it was his time to strike. like a snake on its prey. it appeared luck was on tay’s side for once when he entered and saw the man sitting there. dark eyes narrowed as they approached the desk. “hey, got some garbage i can pick up in here? perhaps,” tay paused dramatically, leaning forward towards him over the desk. he was out here feeling like such a brilliant spy, or a detective. just, in a janitor’s jumpsuit. “behind that door?” he pointed a finger to his left, where a wooden door was shut, where he had seen the weapons of destruction specifically for people like himself.

oliver !
idiot. it was all that came to mind as he let the other lead him through the bar. the ruse was good but oliver had hoped it woudn’t be so easily believed, especially since he could sense that the other was not entirely human. “um dark hair… pretty.” he sniffled, reminding himself that he was supposed to be crying as they searched. eventually, after it was beginning to become obvious that the search would not succeed, he tugged at the male’s sleeve for him to stop. “um i-if she’s not here i think… she might be in the alley. i — i’ve found her there before.” a pitiful child with a drunken mother. what a gross sob story but it seemed to be working spectacularly in his favor.
taeyong was growing mildly impatient while everyone they looked at didn’t seem to be the one woman they needed to find. there were a lot of pretty brunettes, here, the kid wasn’t making it easy, but at least he knew when to quit when it wasn’t practical any longer. “the alley?” he repeated once the kid tugged on his sleeve and made the suggestion. seemed dangerous, and it scared tay to think that he’d gone there before to look for his mom, bad things never happened in alleys. nevertheless, tay was cocky, overly confident, and a vampire. in his eyes, he was fully equipped to take on whatever danger could possibly await them in the alley. not that tay expected anything bad to happen, considering his town was only full of nice people. “okay, i’ll take you there. stay close.” once more tay began marching off, this town out of the grill and down the sidewalk towards the alley.

taeyong couldn’t help it, he was empathetic at heart. so while strolling through the square he came across a brooding figure on the bench, of course the tall man took it upon himself to swoop in and save the day. or possibly invade personally space, depending on how you look at it. “hey, what’s wrong?” he asked, looking him over carefully. “i have nothing but love for all of my residents here in mystic falls, so go ahead and tell king tay kim what’s wrong. i’m listening.” a soft smile, a pat on the back. “if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s okay. i have some jokes that will definitely cheer you up.”

marcel !
Marcel couldn’t hell himself, but finally the man composed himself long enough to apologize, Klaus would owe him big time for this one. “Aww, you’re right–you’re right, it was a good try, impersonating people is hard,” The vampire stood up and stretched a little, then felt confusion tickle in on his face from Tay’s inquiry. “Klaus, I know he sent you, all that "king of the city” stuff? Look I get it, it’s hard to lose a whole town but I did it justice, everything’s at my command and under careful control, you can take that back to him, okay? And tell him I’d prefer a more face-to-face notice next time, because this was weird even for him.“ He started to saunter off with a shake of his head, it must have been an Original thing.
tay felt completely humiliated not only being laughed at in a public setting, but being doubted on top of that. and to add insult to injury, he turned his back to him. “what the heck are you talking about, guy?” he said after a few startled seconds, having been too confused while trying to figure out what this marcel was implying. “i work for no one and i impersonate no one and i certainly don’t deliver messages to this ‘claws’ you speak of. i told you i’m tay kim and i’m the king of mystic falls, so you should show some more respect for me if you want to stay in this town for one more minute.” tay took a deep, dramatic breath before sighing it out. he never wanted to be a harsh ruler, but if that’s what it took to make people listen to him and take him seriously, so be it. he could try to be a harsh ruler, as if he stood a chance.

ophelia !
“Well—no. His full name is Benvolio, but no one calls him that. Right and I’m Ophelia, but some people actually call me that.” To her dismay. “Family is choice—not blood,” she snapped. Fee was ready to start raising fists. She wasn’t a born fighter, but she was scrappy. The system made sure of that. “Benny is my best friend,” she insisted. “And I don’t think you even know him. So why don’t you try and scam someone else.” People kept trying to meddle in their lives lately. What was this town? It was like it was trying to separate them. Well, the joke was on the universe. Fee would never let that happen.
“well, i’m not surprised. that’s hideous.” tay’s face showed genuine disgust, although he had always been envious of names that were longer and cooler than his own. and easier to pronounce. “you can’t be his best friend and his family. your family is your family. your blood. whether you like them or not doesn’t matter. you don’t choose who you’re born to,” he spoke matter-of-factly, like it was a definitive answer, not something up to interpretation. “well, maybe you don’t know him. he’s my best friend, ophelia, if that’s even your real name. or, at least he will be soon. i’m not scamming anyone.” taeyong was indignant. he was defensive of his position as benny’s best friend because he hated being second, and he always had.

so many insults where stuck in oliver’s throat he had no idea which to start spewing out first. being mistaken for a child was not new to the heretic but many adults had the decency to question why he looked so comfortable in an adult space. this one clearly did not and nothing less than white hot rage was consuming his thoughts. it took little effort to concoct a a genuine frown, resembling more of a pout as he turned and desperately clung to the male’s hand. playing the role of a frightened child was demeaning but oliver wanted to reek a special kind of revenge on this individual. “no, sir. you don’t u-understand,” he choked on his words, tears building in his soft brown eyes. “my mom left a note saying she’d be here a-and i’m not supposed to bother her but i—” he let a tear slip out, gaze falling to the floor. “i need my mom.”
taeyong’s eyes widened as he looked at the boy, seeing his face so, so sad when he turned around. he almost clutched his heart. hearing his story, seeing the emotion displayed on his childish child features, hurt him deep in his soul. “oh, no. oh, don’t do that. no, no.” tay felt bad, he felt really bad. he squeezed the kid’s hand, pulling him back towards the bar area of the grill carefully. “i was just kidding. i’ll help you find her, little guy.” kids these days, had such deep voices. but he was really clearly a child. not like, probably very young, but definitely, definitely not over twelve. “what does she look like? i’ll help you find her,” he proclaimed. it was the least he could do at this point. he started pointing his finger at people, turning to the kid every time. “is that her? is that?”

@nadiapet - nadia !
taeyong’s past couple of days had been more eventful and exhausting than he thought when he’d come into town, and he needed something to get him by. walking through the square, veins pumping blood in all directions, waiting to be penetrated and sucked dry. but he was better than that, and as if on cue, a familiar, friendly, helpful face pulled him from his trance and he stopped for a moment with widening eyes. he vamp zoomed across the square and embraced the brunette tightly, lifting her off the grass in the process. “nadia!”

“i’m not gonna lie … i always thought it was some dumb sitcom trope. how easy and borderline ridiculous gen-eds can be?”
“but nope. i’m really out here getting a grade for taking a nature walk.”
"back in my day, we got to run around a track, kid. this would have never been allowed.” sometimes taeyong forgot he doesn’t look as old as he actually is, the ripe age of 87. “and my portrait is in black and white. it’s kind of sad.”

He pulled in his lips when the other began to speak, willing himself not to laugh because it appeared they were serious. Was this a joke? Was Niklaus pulling something on him because his guard had been down a little bit? Did he sound slightly obnoxious like this person did? It had to be a joke, the man dropped his arm with a confused look then burst out in genuine laughter.
“Wow man, you almost had me there that was pretty good I tell ya—the arm crossing thing? It was a nice touch, it is my go-to I’ll admit, but I’ve always told him it’s for the illusion and it’s kind of my nervous tick.”
taeyong watched in almost horror, but mostly shock, as the monstrously attractive man started laughing at him in his face. “hey, do not laugh. i’m no joke,” he demanded in annoyance, uncrossing his arms and letting them drop to his sides pathetically, possibly insecurely.
tay had a lot of people question him, his power and his future as king of mystic falls, he did a lot of useless defending himself instead of doing something that actually helped him get there. except, all of that and he’d never had someone refer to him in third person. if they ‘him’ was tay. although that wouldn’t make sense considering he’d never spoken to this man before. “wait, who? who is ‘him’?”

“Did you drop this?” she shouted at the passerby. She hadn’t seen it hit the ground; she just saw it there after the body passed. Angie was sitting in the square, doing some class readings, when she noticed it. It might have seemed stupid to the other person, but Angie was convinced it might be of some value.
"yes! it is mine,” taeyong gasped as he turned back around, not only going to retrieve his flyers that he’d dropped, but inviting himself to sit beside her as well. “you’re a lifesaver, thank you.” he gathered the papers together in a bundle, bouncing them on his legs to straighten them. “by the way, take one.” tay put one in her hand and winked. “it’s information about me, and an application you can fill out if you want to go to founder’s ball with me.”

“go to school they said - “ her voice was sarcastic, books laying against the copper table of the mystic grill. she was a witch for crying out loud. sometimes she thought that with her powers should (and could) come with exemptions. “ - it’ll be fun, they said.” was she talking to anyone specifically? probably not, it was really to anyone that heard. bright green eyes pulled up from her math book to make eye contact with the nearest person, “this isn’t fun.”
tay was slightly preoccupied, for once not actively, but unintentionally, looking to get smacked. it wasn’t everyday, however, that he was spoken to; he felt like he was always the one starting conversations, and it cheered him up to see the youth at the table next to his, talking to him. well, talking around him might have been more accurate. still, he stood up. “i can’t remember much of my days in school,” he began, inviting myself to her table and sitting down beside her with a grin on his face. “but you are clearly in distress and i would love to help. what are we studying?”

fox !
Sapphire hues rolled. He wasn’t exactly sure what he was doing standing with a blubbering baby vampire, but here he was. Sensing the other back off, Fox crossed his arms. He shrugged. He hadn’t been called outright ‘Evil’ in a while. It was almost nice to hear. “Because I have to deal with pathetic idiots I killed coming back and making me kill them twice,” he jabbed. Fox waved his hand ambiguously. “I’m sure you annoyed me. Had I know you had vampire blood I might have stuck around to decapitate you before you fed.” Fox laughed dryly. “You’re still just a kid. As far as I’m concerned you always will be. I feel plenty, just not for inane morons. You’re boring. I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than continue you this conversation. Do you understand that? That’s why I killed you. I kill a bare minimum of a person a week—when I’m benevolent. If you’re looking for a father figure, I don’t care if I sired you. You’re not my responsibility and I will kill you if I see fit.” He clasped his hands in front of him and tilted his head. “Have I made myself clear, little one?”
tay stared without interruption, because for one that was the nice thing to do and secondly, he wanted to hear every despicable word that came from the man’s mouth. in a weird way, it gave taeyong relief to realize that the person that had killed him was just evil, that there was nothing he had done personally to upset him & deserve to be killed at such a young age. he didn’t deserve this. but at the same time, he was terrified in the face of the threat of a second, probably more permanent death. when it was his turn to talk, he wasn’t ready yet. “well- well-” tay’s mouth had already opened, started pouring out words ( well, word, singular ) before he was ready, before the other’s words could even process in his own mind. a minimum of a person a week? for how long? he was speechless, and taken off guard. his fear and borderline panic was probably not a secret at that point, but at least he was forming words better. he was trying to be brave. “when i take over this town, you’re going to be the first to go. you won’t hurt anymore people who don’t deserve it.” never had he encountered someone so outright horrible before, and there were a lot of people that liked to roast him on a daily basis. taeyong wasn’t taking this great, but he thought he could personally do something about it.

marcel !
“Please,” Marcel said in his usual cocky way with a hand to his heart in a mock pleading manner, “No pictures.”
This person had been conspicuously hovering around him for awhile now even though it was obvious they weren’t trying to be seen. Marcel was a bit confused by their actions having never met this person before. He extended a hand trying to be friendly and smiled warmly, “I’m Marcel, from New Orleans originally, so if this is some kind of small town welcome wagon thing I’m afraid I’m not to familiar with it.”
《@mftayking 》
tay wasn’t impressed, more like intimidated. maybe he wasn’t so great at hiding his feelings or being secretive about watching someone, but he liked to think so. so, this guy was good. “well, marcel,” he sneered the name like it was something nasty and gross on his tongue. really, he found this marcel guy to be attractive and tay was quite envious and almost tongue-tied, but not quite. “my name is taeyong, but you probably knew that already. i kind of own this town. you could say i’m pretty famous,” he said cockily, to match the other’s tone. “what brings you to mystic falls if you’re from new orleans?” he asked, crossing his arms in a manner that suggested he was trying to be tough and appear badass.

More laugher came from the witch. She gave him a week tops before he had his heart ripped out. “You think you can somehow earn the respect of thousand year old unkillable vampires who respect nobody but themselves?” Laughing again, this was the most entertainment she had experienced in a while. “That sounds like a wonderful idea if you’re looking to die. Good luck with that whole plan, you’ll be dead by the end of the year. Maybe even the end of the month.”
taeyong’s knuckles turned white as they clenched, nails into palms. he was on the verge of crying already, as he was laughed at and doubted right to his face. by somebody he’d tried to be nice to, no less. also, she was humiliating him to everyone around who might have been listening. his bottom lip was quivering; the sensitive eventual king of mystic falls. "i don’t want anybody to die, just like i don’t want to die. that’s more respectable, you’ll see.” he sucked in a breath and leaned back in his seat. “i will own this town, and i thought you might want to be my friend when i do but seeing as you’re going to doubt me, never-stinkin’-mind.”

fox !
He sighed internally. Fox somehow, and it was complete confounding to him how he, always got himself into these situations. Why him? He grabbed Tay before he could tackle him once more. Fox shoved him far enough away that he was out of range. “Pleasure to meet you?” he grumbled, still puzzled by what exactly the other expected from the situation. If he was only from the 40s then Fox was hardly concerned. He was stronger than him and seven other hims put together. “Congratulations am I supposed to send you a formal invite to the club? Or are you mad I missed the last 62 anniversaries?” Fox felt no urge to retaliate; in fact, it felt too boring. Unless Tay came at him, he would continue to hold his ground.
it hurt tay to be pushed to the side ( physically and metaphorically ), to be not cared about by someone who’d ended his life with finality, without even knowing he’d come back alive within a few hours. to not even be remembered, by this guy. truthfully, to the guy’s point, taeyong didn’t know what he expected by coming at him, what he wanted to hear or have happen. an apology, the begging of forgiveness at his feet? a distraught taeyong got to his feet after being shoved back again, making no move to attack again when there seemed to be no intent for the man to fight him back. also, he kind of stood no chance. “i’m mad because you killed me! you’re supposed to apologize, why are you so evil? why did you kill me and leave me? i was just a kid. i knew nothing, i was by myself! how can you feel nothing?” blubbering and rambling was tay’s specialty when he was upset, which was not often; this was something major to him. of course he was a mess making no sense. the lack of empathy riled him up even more.

benvolio !
Benny was so surprised when he felt the other boy drape himself over him but he tried not to show it. He used the tiny bit of werewolf strength that he had to to stop both of them from ending up on the floor. “Oh yeah? Best idea ever? Better than electricity and cars and all that stuff?” He joked, slightly shrugging Tay off simply because he didn’t know if he was strong enough to keep them standing for much longer. “Tell me about this incredible, life changing idea of yours then buddy.”
perhaps barging into the public bathroom and almost tackling benny over while he was washing his hands was not his brightest idea, but tay was never one to shy away from breaking the social norm or pick up on cues. “way, way, way better than that,” tay spoke excitedly, peeling himself off the werewolf’s shoulders. “okay, here it is: a founder’s ball date contest.” the dramatic pause he’d added before the announcement didn’t do justice to the brilliant idea, in tay’s mind. “we hang up flyers and post applications that people can fill out, they can send emails or texts to us if they want to go with us, seeing as both of us are handsome devils and probably a lot of people want to go with us.” he winked at himself in the large mirror they were facing on the bathroom wall. he was grinning as he patted benny on the back. “so? what do you think, my guy?”

maya !
Maya rolled her eyes at his words, wishing that he would catch the idea that she didn’t want him around. Was it that hard? She was rude, she thought she did all she could to make it obvious. Her only option was killing him, but she wasn’t going to do that. She didn’t want his blood on her hands, plus he was somewhat entertaining. She just wondered how long his ‘i’m a king’ persona would last before the originals found out and would probably come after him. “I’d be happy carrying my own bags,” Maya mumbled as she glared at him, knowing that there was no use in stopping him, for two reasons. One, he would just take them back. And two, he had already sped up. She rolled her eyes and sighed, grabbing her phone, keys, and ID before walking to her classroom and opening the door for the two of them as if she had a choice on letting him in. “Just to let you know, this town doesn’t know about the supernatural, even if there’s plenty of them. You can’t just zoom around and feed on everyone, not everybody knows and they’re certainly not ready for it.” She shut the door behind them, knowing if other staff members heard, a panic would start. She took the bags out of his hands, setting them on her desk and taking out the decorations. Some of them were pink, sparkly, or rose gold. Some were gold themselves, others say inspirational or funny phrases. “I’ve barely been here for two months, let me enjoy my time before they start burning every house just to kill us vampires.”
if taeyong didn’t constantly deny that she was annoyed and fed up with his presence constantly, even after all this time they’d been apart, he would quite possibly shut down and not know what to do with himself. it hurt too much to face the possibility that his beloved felt nothing but disdain and hatred for him, when it was clearly what she exerted, so he denied it all and persisted. he was the best at that. “well, i don’t see anyone around so it’s okay. and i would never feed on everyone. only when i have to, my queen. even then, i do it secretly.” his eyes almost physically turned into the shape of hearts, reminiscent of a cartoon character, as he looked at her while she spoke. it was unreal to him to see her again. he had a picture, but pictures did nothing compared to her beauty. he couldn’t imagine losing her again, the thought wasn’t one he was going to let slip into his mind. it didn’t occur to him that she could run from him again, or she could kill him, or she could have someone else kill him. it never did, because he felt one way and there was no taking him out of that state of mind. "you are so smart, you amaze me. teachers are good people, i always knew that you would do good things. so, what do you teach? can you teach me too? i can teach with you. or i can be your assistant.” he vamp zoomed from the classroom door to her desk, where she’d set the box down, and started rummaging through the decorations, pulling out a sign that he found to be pretty. “so, how do i do this? i want to help.”
