MOC Showcase: The Wicked Rose

My latest and greatest Akrathia MOC is none other than the mighty Moncadan vessel of Rodrigo the Corsair; the Wicked Rose Pillaged from the docks of an unsuspecting Pacifador, Rodrigo has turned this old cargo ship into a terror on the high seas, with a full compliment of cannons and crew to boot, featuring actions such as a rising anchor, removable deck, and functioning brig for dissenting mutineers. 

The MOC itself is based on late 14th and early 15th century Spanish galleons, with a larger stern, restructured sails, and an overall stumpier look than most common sailing ships. I wanted the ship to evoke a more whimsical yet adventurous feel, like the pirate ship of a more fairy tale-esque world, which Akrathia is certainly supposed to be. The minifigures match this sentiment with Rodrigo himself in dashing piratical garb, with his trusty shipmates Voza Dulce and Grimvein the Wulvan sailor. Opposite the pirates are the noble but ruthless Pacifadores, the peacekeepers of the kingdom of Moncado, led by Comandante Hector Villanueva. Whether the Pacifadores are attacking Rodrigo and his pirates, or Rodrigo is leading an impromptu mutiny can be left up to your imagination. Oh, and there’s a size comparison between the Crimson Crusader and my other Akrathian vessel, the Wulvan Warship.
