This is what the guru in my animation is supposed to be conveying, this is a prayer before a battle however this prayer was not done to simply hone luck but to be unbiased and to respect the lord whatever was to happen showing fairness over valor in a way.

These were my image inspirations, as my animation was to do with being Sikh i also thought it to be necessary that i should look at the way of stances and how different paintings illustrated this.

Storyboard and initial idea

Me and my group after looking at some cut up animations and being told that we had to create a 5 second cut up animation from something that we had seen on the presentation, decided to spiral ideas between each other and eventually decided that we would create an animation in the style of Lotte Reininger, using a black silhouette. we then thought that we could also take what was said literal and instead of just choosing one of the artist styles that we had seen we could take the concept of the presentation for our animation and decided that the animation would start with someone giving a presenting on pacman, and then pacman jumps out of the screen and chases her.

we decided to ass go away and create a storyboard each and then return and decide what storyboard we liked the best and what best suited the cut up animation that we wanted to create. this above is the storyboard that i created and it starts with our lecturer giving us a presentation on different types of animation styles, and pacman is on the board, then pacman bumps into the edge of the board, breaks out and starts to chase our lecturer. we decided as a group to use symbols such as question marks and exclamation marks to give a better effect.

Dev Log Animation

A lot of the first part of our animation we firstly establish the cycle of Pacman and the lecturer talking whilst eventually acknowledging its existence, we went for a blue background using the Light box because the artist - - - used do base most of their silhouette animation on the use of colour at the back. 

The animation is inspired by the technique of how The Adventures of Prince Achmed was made.

These scenes were where the bulk of the animation came into fruition which is why you can see the skeumorphics coming into play with the Question and Exclamation mark symbols.

Right t the end is where exaggeration with in our animation comes in and we make sure that comical effect was added well into it. What the other thing was is that even though this was simplistic somewhat

Researching Subject

Cut Out Animation first got the recognition from the animation made in 1926 film The Adventures of Prince Achmed, the story of the groundbreaking director behind today’s google doodle and how her fairytale-inspired work made her one of the most important early women in the film industry.
