Final Thoughts
This module has been a learning experience for me throughout the year, giving me further understanding of film analysis, narrative development and fundamentals of storyboarding. Moreover, it helped me to work effectively within a group for many activities and honed my understanding of the pre production processes in film.
Learning to build set models from scratch was a very exciting and fun process and it also enhanced my teamwork skills and highlighted the importance of research and planning that goes into it. From class assignments to the module brief, it all challenged me to think more creatively and left me with many insights. My lecturer's guidance throughout this module helped me massively, for which I'm immensely grateful. Overall, it encouraged me to improve and grow and to continue working diligently and passionately in the future.

Camera Angles and more details for my narrative and storyboards
Since the reimagining of my opening sequence includes a crew member filming this girl (another crew member) painting the ending scene wall, it's supposedly a behind the scenes clip, in a moment where the set wasn't entirely built and it was just the start - showing a clip of the start of the set in the start of the movie itself and kind of ironically it's also the most emotional and impactful ending scene set that's only revealed at the end but the viewer isn't entirely aware that it's that scene being painted.
Although the film includes various camera angles and deliberate shot compositions through the hidden cameras such as fish-eye lens, static shots / low angles close to the ground or close up shots, these camera movements are used to film Truman and it makes sense to have these compositions since he's unaware of him being filmed by these hidden cameras.
As for my narrative, I feel like its unnecessary to use those kind of specific shots since the opening sequence isn't being filmed by hidden cameras at all. This scene camera angles includes some of the crew member filming from a handheld camera, as well as set up camera shots in the scene which aren't hidden cameras since at this moment, only the staff are present in the making of the unfinished set.
As for Truman's dream sequence, I thought that including a fish eye lens for the storm scene would be interesting, but later realized it wouldn't fit since Truman is the one dreaming it and it's what he sees and a fish eye lens wouldn't make sense since that's necessarily something that's used when he's being filmed unknowingly by a hidden camera.
Therefore, I opted to using more moderate camera angles such as closeups, medium shots, side shots, extreme close up shots and over the shoulder shots for the opening sequence storyboards although I tried to experiment with more camera angles.
~~ After receiving feedback from stage 2 presentations, I changed up a few things that were suggested to me and also new ideas including having the girl wear a beret since it gives more of an artistic vibe to a painter's personality and could seem like they hired an actual artist to paint this realistic wall in the set itself. I also added an extreme close up shot of the paintbrush's intricate movements which I thought was an interesting composition and kind of breaks from the slightly repetitive shots showing the girl and gives us a more artistic view point to it as we watch. I also tried to make the first realistic sky scene look more realistic to the set model picture instead of very puffy looking clouds i had in my previous storyboards. I also made some slight pose changes of the girl which I thought was better.

Exploring the Library
We went through a few books regarding animated films and their production process and I was able to gain new insights about storyboarding in film, the use of color to convey different emotions and styles, environment and character design process and much more.

Assignment
Go through the shots you have taken of your model and consider the following questions keeping in mind your narrative and the aesthetic you intend to follow for your opening scene. Upload your responses to each question below on Tumblr.
1. Consider where the light sources of your scene would be realistically.
Since my narrative is set to create the illusion of outdoors, but it's within the dome, it's being lit up by the artificial sun in the set itself.
2. What colour should the light be?
It should be warm and bright hues of sunlight.
3. How can you enhance the scene with lighting?
SInce I want the audience to feel the presence of the (artificial) sun without necessarily showing it, I chose to have a scene where she covers her eyes from the bright sunlight and afterwards it fades away in the scene and remains as an ambient bright lighting. This further shows how the production crew moved away the casting of the sun rays after she acted as if it was too bright while she painted - a real sunlight wouldn't move away that quickly and further hints at how this is a controlled environment.
4. How do you intend to alter the lighting to control the mood of your audience?
I also have a storm sequence in my narrative, that's part of Truman's dream and I intend to have that scene with a dark gloomy and stormy weather and lighting to further create the unwelcoming feeling of discomfort and danger that Truman would necessarily feel as storms repetitively haunt him as flashbacks in the film.
5. What about if you try something unusual with the lighting? Would this option work well with your narrative idea?
Since I already established the opening sequence with an outdoor setting with sunlight and the storm sequence with a contrasting darker and gloomy weather in the sea, I feel like this might work best in terms of appropriate controlled lighting of this space.
6. What happens if you shoot outdoors instead of indoors?
I feel like that would work for my narrative as well but unfortunately with the set model being too heavy and large to carry all the way out of the university and not having a proper place to shoot outdoors, I opted to take some pictures near the windows and with much brighter lighting within the university itself.

Finalized and Edited Narrative with Camera Angles
The camera moves slowly, showing a glimpse of a perfect blue sky, quite serene and calm. As the camera pans, capturing the expanse of the calm horizon with still clouds, the scene seems almost too real, too tranquil to be true. Sounds of nature could be heard in the distance, setting an ambient and peaceful mood.
Yet, as the camera gets closer, we see a figure of a girl, her back turned to us. She turns around and looks up a bit, covering her eyes for a moment from the sun rays, tinted with a slight yellow hue, it radiates a slight magical glow and a feeling of warmth and peace but at the same time seems unusually bright.
These bright sun rays illuminate a side of the empty wall, further making it seem like she's outdoors with the slight shadow casting beneath her as she moves. But soon, the sun rays fades away.
The camera moves to a side shot and the girl starts to paint. The camera moves again to a medium shot from behind as she paints nimble and fluid brushstrokes in a shade of blue, giving a bit of life to the empty wall.
Moving closer, to an over the shoulder shot, she paints calmly and the camera slowly shifts to a wide shot showing her standing on a step ladder and as if someone is recording her every movement from afar as well.
The camera shifts to a side shot, showing her holding a white paint palette. A closeup pov shot reveals that it's splattered with various tones of blue paint and a noticeable gold branding label called "Artist's Pal"
An extreme close up shot of the paintbrush gliding across the wall, shows the intricate brush strokes adding more artistic detail to this empty wall, the camera carefully taking in all the slow movements in a way that's very calming.
The camera shifts again, as she paints in a peaceful motion. She tries to fix her hair away from her face and amidst this calm moment, a gasp escapes her lips. The tranquil moment shatters as the paintbrush slips from her hand, and we hear a soft splash - as if the brush fell into water.
The sound of the splash resonates for a second, rippling through the serene atmosphere. The screen goes black and suddenly, a scene of a destructive storm fills the screen for about two seconds like a flashback, the weather dark and windy with sounds of rain echoing all over as the strong waves of the ocean splashes around in contrast to the calm scene before. A bolt of lightning echoes loudly in the distance and the camera cuts.
Abruptly, the dream like state ends and the scene changes. The terrifying sounds of the storm and lightning echoes in Truman's mind for a second and he rubs his eyes. Letting out a sigh, he stares at his reflection in the mirror and starts to talk to himself.
