I haven’t always been able to be friends with women. I’ve distanced myself from other women on purpose throughout the years because of varying degrees of trauma inflicted on me as I was growing up from people who I thought were my friends. . And sadly, there were times when I inflicted emotional trauma on other women from my place of hurt. . But I have a tribe now. A tribe of women supporting other women and today on International Women’s Day, I want to honor them. The women I know and love who have walked with me through dark times, and those who have been patient with me as I move into the light. Thank you. (at Bellingham, Washington)

This has been hanging over my desk for a week or so and every time I look at it, I take three deep breaths. . See, I am scared. . I am scared I’m screwing up my kids. I am terrified that everyone is adulting better than I am. I am scared of my future and the empty house when my kids are gone. . I hope one day to be completely fearless, but right now I take it one day at a time. (at Bellingham, Washington)

All of this will be on the blog soon, but I made a lemon raspberry bundt cake and needed a glaze. . Regular powdered sugar and milk didn’t seem like enough...so I took some lemon juice, some @vitalproteins matcha collagen powder and powdered sugar and boom. . Perfect. (Maybe a little runny.)

I used to hate my face. . I used to look in the mirror and speak such hateful things to myself. I was so buried in my misery that I couldn’t even look at my own face. . It took a long time to (mostly) stop. It took a lot of staring at myself in the mirror and picking one thing I like and gushing about that. . If you can’t speak life into yourself, it is so difficult to help others. And I want to help others (and love myself a little more too) ❤️

There are news helicopters hovering near my house and the constant drone of the blades is making me uneasy. . See, my son and his friends (along with students at all the middle schools and high schools in our district) have walked out of class in protest and are heading to city hall for a rally. . They’re literally asking us why we haven’t done anything to ensure their safety while they are AT SCHOOL. They are asking us what we can do about it. . Do we have an answer?
