So, I'm gonna give a OOC lore overview of Hotline Miami, so we're on the same page. May be a wall of text, fair warning. It's the 1980's, pinnacle of the Cold War between America and Russia. Russia invades Hawaii, leading to something called 'The Hawaiian Conflict', to which Jacket (prior to the first game, as a Soldier) and his squad are deployed.

Lot of stuff goes boom, lot of people he know's dies to Soviet soldiers and their attacks, and Jacket himself is caught by some shrapnel after an explosion, and they're sent home, believing the conflict is over.

April 3rd, 1986, Russia nukes San Francisco, killing Jacket's closest friend Beard in the process.

After said nuke is dropped, the Russo-American Coalition is formed via treaty. But, after said Conflict and the killing of many of Jacket's friends and allies, along with deep seeded mental illness, and the growing numbers of the Russian Mob in Miami, he was easily manipulated dozens of times, to go out and kill HUNDREDS of Russian Gangsters, by a terroristic group called Fifty Blessings, seeking to topple the RAC.

In the end, Jacket is indeed put in prison after killing the head of the Russian Mob, The Father, but mine does not follow that timeline. Enjoy that.

There’s a very thick line between acknowledging and normalizing mental illness

I feel like normalizing mental illness in general is becoming a slippery slope of just letting your mental illness fester (fester, as in stay and rot)

This does not equate whatsoever but I’m using this example anyway,

It’s normal to be depressed for example, but its not normal to let yourself stay in that state without trying to better yourself

I’m all kinds of mentally ill and I’m okay with the fact that I have those illnesses, but I’m not okay with letting them drag me down

Now don’t say I’m trying to be “holier than thou,” I’m no better than anyone

It’s hard to get out of that hole, but you can, and you will — regardless

It’s one thing to know it’s not okay, but its another thing to make it okay even though you know it’s very much not

Normalize seeking help for your illnesses, please

It’s okay to have unwanted attractions, and it’s okay to be ill, but it’s not okay to let yourself go deeper into that hole

Don’t harm yourself by letting your illnesses dictate your life, please, please, please, take care of yourself as best as you can

You are more than your mental illnesses, and it’s your responsibility to make sure it’s manageable

You can be sick and still know something is wrong, I don’t believe you can pretend it’s okay and to let yourself just be sick

Don’t hurt yourself, and don’t hurt others, that’s all I ask

Love you all, I hold no grudges against the mentally ill folks out there, and that is including paraphiles
