CAS experience: reflection
Overall my CAS experience has been educating and I learned many things about collaborating with others as well as new things about myself. In many of my endeavours I have become more confident and skilled. I am proud that I was able to recognize my strengths as well as my weaknesses which I continued to work on throughout my CAS experience. My commitment to activities such as running, helped me to improve my self-confidence as over time I noticed that I changed my perception to the activity to a more positive one and felt more encouraged each time I attended a training. Through CAS also learned how to work effectively with others, with both Julia on our visits to Kamil or with my collaborators on my CAS project. I am also happy to have developed better cooking skills and that I tried recipes which seemed daunting, but with more practice in the kitchen they became easier over the course of my experience and I learned a skill which will be useful in the future.

Creativity
Kirił and I helped his sister Marina in painting a mural in her apartment. Firstly we had to sketch out the design on the wall and then we went on painting. It seemed like an easy task at first because it was basically jus coloring in the lines, but since I do not have much experience of painting it was hard to paint in such detail and it required a lot of precision and patience in order to complete. We still have a lot of work to do, but it is already coming along nicely and I am excited to see the final result.
I recently made a salad from a recipe that I invented myself. It is and avocado salad with a french vinaigrette sauce. I added fresh herbs to the sauce like basil and estragon to make the sauce more fresh and to add flavor.

Creativity
I wanted to bake something sweet because recently I was focused on healthy foods, but once in a while I think it is ok to indulge. Kirił and I decided to a make an apple pie cheesecake which is perfect for me as it is a mix of my favorite desserts! The process took a bit longer than we had anticipated because there were a lot of steps to the recipe, like first making the crust and then both filings. I was nervous when making it that it would not come out right but happily it turned out perfect! Maybe next time we should try to make a healthier version of this cake.

Service
Julia and I visited Kamil recently and we talked about his school and he showed us his new games which he got for his birthday. We showed us how to play and what his favorite games are, of course football. Kamil also told us about his friends at school and a school trip that he recently went on! It is always nice to see Kamil and he is always very happy to see us.

Creativity
In an attempt to be better at cooking polish food, I decide to try to make pierogi. I wasn’t going to try to make them myself and I had my grandmother on the phone nearly the entire time. I succeeded at making blueberry pierogi which were not that bad. The only thing which I would improve was that for some of the dumplings the dough was too thin and they broke. Besides that, I am happy with the result of my work in the kitchen.
Action
I went for a run on saturday afternoon, but I was only able to run for a km until I had to stop because I started to feel sick. I find that it is important for me to know my body’s own limitations in order not to push myself too hard. I may have felt bad because I had been sick the previous week.

Although I was unable to have lessons during the holidays I still practiced my vocal chords every day. My teacher said that I sounded much better and more confident in my delivery, which is important to me as I am a shy individual. If I plan on continuing my lessons I would like to perform a song in public sometime in the future.
Action
Over the Christmas break I went skiing with my family in Austria. I had not gone skiing in a few years which is why getting back on the slopes was daunting at first, but with the help of an instructor I was able to tackle slopes which I was too afraid of before. I am aware that next year I should try and practice more in order to be more confident.

Action
I recently attended a yoga class with my sister which I have not done in a while. The level of the class was intermediate which is what made me hesitant and nervous at first, but despite this fact I had my sisters support and she helped me through by laughing off what I was doing wrong.
Service
Julia and I visited Kamil for the last time before the Christmas break. We brought him some chocolate as an early christmas present which made him very happy. It is nice to know that what may see like a small gesture for me is in fact something much more significant for someone with a disability. It is important for me to notice how my perception of Kamil has changed over the course of the time that we have been visiting him and how I have become more comfortable and patient with him.

As I am continuing my experience with cooking healthy food for myself I have decided to cook udon noodles with vegetables. This is one of my favorite fast food choices, but I wanted to make it in a healthy way for myself. There was a lot of work which went into chopping and peeling all of the vegetables as well as preparing the shrimp, but the final result and taste was worth it! Not all of the necessary ingredients were available to me,so I had to be inventive.

In my singing lessons I am continuing to study and practice french songs. My favorite french singer is Francoise Hardy which is why I love to sing her songs because they have a lovely melody. I have begun to practice and make notes during my lessons how to improve or correct my voice in certain parts of the song
Action
I have gotten back into attending Nike running club trainings. The trainings are very helpful in motivating you especially when its cold and gray outside. The training I did was not very long but it was intensive. Half-way through I thought I was going to give up, but thanks to the group of runners I was able to keep going and to power through.
