Micah grinned and reached forward to take one happily. “Yum, this makes my day.”

“They’re the best apple turnovers I’ve ever had.” She opened the box, holding it out for the woman to take one.

“I’m extremely neat and meticulous, we’ll have the cleanest room in the mansion.” Micah joked.

Avia took the other’s laughing as a good sign and smiled. “Oh, really? Well – I promise I’m usually very tidy.  I like my things organized, so you won’t have to worry about that cleaning habit. On my side of the room that is, you’re free to be as untidy as you please.”

“I’m pretty stubborn too, I will admit. No, you’re the biggest lost cause I’ve ever seen.” She smirked. “I came, I saw, I conquered.”

“What can I say, I’m about as stubborn as they come sometimes. A lost cause? You’re surely mistaken.” She said with a chuckle. She raised her eyebrows. “What does…veni vidi vici mean?”

“Definitely keep it apple. Or peach, either is good.”

“It was keep with apple or switch to this minty smell. They’re both really nice smelling..Oh peaches would be good too!”

“I certainly wouldn’t, not when your other options would never be as good. Though peach comes a close second.”

“Well thank you. I was thinking of changing up my shampoo but now I’m thinking I shouldn’t.”

“I wouldn’t mind having one. I’m not a big person to eat sugar but I’ll make an exception for apples.”

“I bought like six of them, I think I’ll be sick if I eat them all to myself. You can have one, or two if you like.”

Micah shook her head laughing. “It’s perfectly fine. You’re unpacking so it’s understandable you’d make a mess. Not that I mind a mess. My partner has to be one of the biggest slobs I’ve ever met. I can handle anything at this point. I just have a habit of cleaning.”

Roommates. Avia totally forgot, and the room was now slightly a mess as she was still unpacking and figuring out where everything could go. She let out a sigh of relief when the other didn’t seem to mind Wicked. “Oh – right. Hi, I’m Avia. Sorry if the place is a bit untidy, I’m in the process of putting away all my things.”

“Since you are still pointlessly arguing, I will just have to assume you are a lost cause.” Micah said dramatically, shaking her head. She paused for a moment, trying to conjure a few of her favorites. “Carpe diem and Veni Vidi Vici are two of my favorites. ”

“Nope. They have terrible taste because they use twizzlers. Or maybe it was cheaper to use those nasty things. A budget thing.” She said with a smirk. “Uh huh, whatever helps you sleep at night.” She added in a teasing tone. “Oh, that’s an understatement. Latin sayings? Like what?”

“Ouch, be nice.” Micah couldn’t help but laugh. The hit hadn’t hurt but she could be playful. It was nice to be playfully. Her chest twinged uncomfortably when Valerie brought up the gun again. “Val, that was then. This is now. Put it out of your mind.” There was a time when the gun and that moment with Valerie was all Micah could think about. Times she’d wished Valerie had pulled the trigger. She hadn’t thought about it as much lately. She had wanted a new start. “I am absolutely adorable.” She intertwined their fingers together. “Nothing too fancy. This is New York and there is only so much snob I can handle. Even after working with your family.” She joked. 

Valerie gasped and playfully hit Micah’s arm, “How dare you bring up my snoring.” she said giving her a pout. “It was the same with you. As hard as I tried to remember that sweet face of yours, all I could think about when I thought of you was putting that gun…” she sighed, not finishing her sentence. “I do, it’s absolutely adorable.” she said kissing her cheek. “Great, I’ll take you somewhere amazing.”

“That might be my shampoo. I didn’t think the smell of it was that strong–not that I’m complaining.”

“No I’m certainly not complaining either. It is quite a lovely smell.”

Micah had wandered around exploring for a few hours before returning to her room. She was surprised to hear Wicked blaring from the room. She hummed along as she knocked, even if it was her room. Micah was anything if not polite. “No, I just decided to come back to the room for a book. Looks like we’re roommates. Seems like we’re the perfect match if you’re playing Wicked on loop.”

Micah had wandered around exploring for a few hours before returning to her room. She was surprised to hear Wicked blaring from the room. She hummed along as she knocked, even if it was her room. Micah was anything if not polite. “No, I just decided to come back to the room for a book. Looks like we’re roommates. Seems like we’re the perfect match if you’re playing Wicked on loop.”

Avia was halfway through unpacking, the Wicked soundtrack playing on a loop as she tossed a few things in empty drawers. The blonde was excited for this new adventure on the show – though she knows she needs to be somewhat careful. She’s a theatre actress, and bad press isn’t something she needs. She was about to hang something up when she heard a knock at the door and her eyebrow raised, before realizing how loud her music must be. The Italian quickly turned it down before crossing the room to open her door. “It was the music — wasn’t it? I apologize, I’ve turned it down now.”

“An....ex of mine had apple perfume. She was wearing it the first time we became acquainted. I adore the smell of apples. It’s such a crisp refreshing smell.”

“Apple perfume? Huh, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of such a thing, which is odd since who wanted to smell like apples. I know there is apple shampoo. Do you like the smell of apples?”

“They smell delightful. I don’t suppose you’re sharing, are you?”

“Apple turnovers! I picked them up from a bakery while I was out.”

“Yes, that film. In the film they have impeccable taste, which is why they use Twizzlers.” Micah said haughtily, sticking up her nose dramatically. “No they certainly do not.” She shook her head and was unable to hold back her amusement. “Life is a roller coaster that’s for sure. Right, to each their own. I find when life gets to be too much, Latin sayings lift my spirits.”

“Bandslam. And that’s because they don’t know any better. And you can’t suck much through them. Takes too much effort.” She said with a laugh, her head shaking, “They taste wonderful! You are sorely mistaken.” She teased, a smile on her lips. “It definitely does, trust me. I’ve had a lot of those, so I definitely get it. To each their own, right?”

“They’re a pain at tomes, but I’m certainly glad you like them. If I can put up with you snoring you can handle the hair.” She teased back, shaking her head. Seeing Valerie blush went straight to her heart. God, she’d missed Valerie. This wasn’t the reunion she was expecting and yet she couldn’t be happier. “My mind could never quite do you justice. It wasn’t the same as having you there.” She admitted. She leaned their foreheads together. “You love when I’m cheesy. A date with you? Nothing would make me happier.”

“You’re absolutely correct. I missed them because they’re yours, even if they always found their way into my mouth in the middle of the night.” she teased. She blushed at the other woman’s words, “I’ve missed your eyes, and your mouth. The two thins that engraved themselves into my memory. I’d go to bed every night and imagine your face, imagine your warmth.” she said, kissing the thumb that rubbed against her lip. “You’re so cheesy.” she said with a chuckle. “Maybe we should make up for lost time and go on a date.”

“What’s that one film with Vanessa Hudgens and those people in a band? They used Twizzlers as straws. They work fantastically.” She shook her head. “No they don’t because they taste awful.” She made a face as a joke, trying to capture her disgust. “Life has it’s ups and it’s downs. I’ve been through a lot and I suppose it’s just what you make of it. Whatever makes you happy. Carpe diem.”

“Or twizzlers are the wrong thing to make a straw.” She teased with a grin, “They so have sugar in them. I think you have them mixed up again.” She said with a smirk, her head shaking slightly. “I don’t know. Life has had a lot of good for me. I want to enjoy the things I love while I”m alive. Not avoid them because they may shorten my life. I mean, at least I’ll have lived a happy life, you know?”
