you all know how i feel about moffat but i have to say that world enough and time/the doctor falls is one of the best season finales in new who because there is no pressure to have it be an even bigger more deadly threat to earth than last time it could be a middle of the season two parter but it works perfectly as a finale. i think if you were to take an rtd1 two parter and have it be a finale the impossible planet/the satan pit would work really well in that same way if you didn't have to get rid of rose at the end of it

what they don't tell you about watching classic doctor who is that it will turn you into an old person with old person doctor who opinions. and i don't mean like "it's gone too woke" i mean you'll start saying things like "i think they should go back to 25 minute long serials" or "we don't need an overarching plot or even a huge finale"
