The Queen of Fire Meets the Kind of Hellfire: CH 11 - It’s All A What?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ST4 but with Jamie (Nine/009). I used the comic book (Into the Fire) as a rough starting point. Jamie possesses Pyrokinesis (the ability to create/control fire). Starts off when Eddie’s already fled to Reefer Rick’s.
Snippet:
Nancy looks over to Jamie “Nine- uh, Jamie sorry, um... is there anything you can do?”
Jamie walks over to Steve and squats next to Nancy “It’s fine. Haven’t been called that in a while but...” She looks at the bloody gouged wounds on his side “I could... cauterize it?” says Jamie.
“God, please no” says Steve.
“Would that help?” asks Nancy.
“Honestly... it might make him pass out” says Jamie.

Chapter 11 – It’s All a What?
Robin, Nancy, Steve, Eddie, and Jamie are huddled under the Skull Rock of the Upside-Down, trying to stay out of sight of the bats.
“Okay, that was close” says Robin, slowly getting out from under the rock; Everyone follows her lead.
“Yeah, too close” says Eddie.
“Oh, sh... shit” says Steve as he stumbles over, grabbing onto the wall.
“Steve? Jesus” says Nancy as she rushes to his side.
“I’m fine. I’m fine” says Steve
“No, no, no. You’re not. You’re losing blood” says Nancy “Come on, sit. All right?”
Steve sits to the ground, grunting in pain. Steve takes his hand off the wound in his lower right abdomen, a gaping bloody hole from where the bats bit into.
“Oh...” says Robin.
“Yeah, no thanks” says Steve “I respectfully decline.”
Jamie stands up and walks over to stand next to Eddie. Nancy looks down and begins to rip her shirt, making a DIY bandage.
“Okay” says Nancy. She holds the bandage up to Steve’s abdomen, Steve lifts his torso.
“You ready?” asks Nancy.
“Yeah, just do it” says Steve.
Nancy wraps the bandage around him as he grunts in pain.
“Sorry” says Nancy.
“It’s okay” says Steve running his hands through his hair. Steve grunts again.
“Too tight?” asks Nancy.
“No, that’s good” says Steve. He leans back against the rock. Nancy ties at not on it, securing it in place.
“Thanks” says Steve.
Eddie looks to the rock behind him and climbs up it. He slowly stands up, looking around at the dark forest. Thunder and red lightning still flashing in the distance.
“So, uh, this place is like Hawkins, but with monsters and nasty shit?” asks Eddie.
“Pretty much” says Nancy.
Eddie starts to walk back down the rock “Wait, watch out for the vines!” says Nancy “It’s all a Hive Mind.”
Eddie freezes in place “It’s all a what?”
“All the creepy crawlies around here, dude. They’re like, one, or something” says Steve “If you step on a vine, you’re stepping on a bat, you’re stepping on Vecna.”
“Shit” says Eddie. He carefully starts to walk down the rock, avoiding the vines. He waves white dust particles out of his face.
“But everything from our world is still here, right? Except people, obviously?” asks Robin.
“As far as I understand it, yeah” says Nancy.
“So, theoretically, we could go to the police station and steal guns and grenades and whatever we need to blow up those bat things that are guarding the gate. Since, Nine said, you know she can’t handle that many by herself” says Robin.
Jaime glares at Robin.
“I highly doubt the Hawkins PD has grenades, Robin. But guns, yeah, sure” says Steve.
“Well, we don’t have to go all the way downtown for guns” says Nancy “I have guns, in my bedroom.”
Eddie jumps down from the rock “You, Nancy Wheeler, have guns, plural, in your bedroom?”
“Full of surprises, isn’t she?” asks Robin.
“A Russian Makarov and a revolver” says Nancy.
“Yeah, you almost shot me with that one” says Steve.
“You almost deserved it” says Nancy. A moment passes and a jean jacket hits Steve in the chest.
“For your modesty, dude” says Eddie.
“You guys said... the vines. They’re... connected to Vecna?” asks Jaime.
“Yeah” says Nancy “Why?”
“A vine is what pulled me in. I mean, I was all the way by the shore... and it pulled me under” says Jamie.
“So? I was pulled under” says Steve.
“... No, she’s right” says Nancy “Why would it go out of its way to grab you... unless.”
“Unless... what?” asks Robin.
“Unless he knows you’re here. And who you are...” says Nancy.
...
Suddenly, there’s a loud rumbling and the ground begins to shake. Everyone loses their balance. Jamie and Eddie clash together and fall to the ground. Steve holds his arm around Nancy, pulling her back to his chest, taking a few steps back into Skull Rock.
The rumbling comes to a stop, all of them panting in fear. They hear a loud snarling echo in the distance. They all look to where the noise is coming from, but they don’t see anything.
“Yeah, so, guns seem like a pretty good idea to me” says Eddie. Jamie looks back to Eddie, as they're practically spooning "Yeah... me too."
“Me three” says Robin.
“So, what are we waiting for?” asks Steve, putting on the jean jacket Eddie gave him.
Steve starts walking into the forest, flipping on his flashlight. Eddie stands up and offers a hand to Jamie, helping her up. The rest of the group joins Steve, following him deeper into the Upside-Down.

Chapter 10 - Jamie, A Little Help?!
“Eddie!” yells Jamie. She's standing in Lover’s Lake, water up to her calves. She’s terrified, all alone now. The cops could come back at any second and take her away.
Tears begin to fill her eyes when all of a sudden, something grabs her leg... something big. She’s pulled under the water. Hard. Her mouth is closed, muffled screams of terror echo under the surface. She’s trying her best to hold her breath, and not inhale any water.
...
As Eddie’s swimming down to the gate, he sees a huge, vine-like shape whip out of it and shoot past him. He continues swimming to the gate, a few seconds later, it comes back, now dragging something: Jamie. It swiftly pulls her into the gate. Eddie starts swimming as fast as he can.
Jamie gets flung through the gate and smacks the ground hard on the other side. She coughs up water, gasping for air.
...
“Jamie” she hears a voice as something grabs her shoulder. She gasps and whips her body around.
“Eddie” says Jamie with tears in her eyes. She sits up on her knees and aggressively pulls him in for a hug, holding him as tightly as possible. He hugs her back, holding the back of her head with his hand “Hey, it’s okay,” says Eddie "We're-"
Eddie looks over and sees... he’s not sure what he sees, but it doesn’t look good “Shit.”
He pulls her from the hug and stays looking at Steve, Nancy, and Robin in the distance. Jamie releases him and follows his gaze. Eddie picks up an oar. Jamie looks down at her right hand. They both look at each other, then start running towards them.
Steve is being attacked by vicious bat-like creatures. One has its tail wrapped around Steve’s throat and is pulling upward, choking him. The others are biting into his abdomen and his legs. Nancy has the other oar. She smacks the bat tearing into his left leg. It whimpers as its hit, but quickly recovers and flies back into the air.
Nancy smacks the other bat chewing into his right leg. Robin runs over to the bat that’s choking him and stomps her foot down on it, trying to hold it down. Nancy stabs it repeatedly with the oar.
“Kill it! Kill it!” yells Eddie.
Robin whips her head towards Jamie, “Jamie, a little help?!”
Jamie thought she'd be ready to use her abilities, especially since others are in danger. Her body is pumping with adrenaline, but she's completely frozen. Her mind feels blank, yet running with a million thoughts. She's breathing rapidly, but there doesn't seem to be any air... It's too much.
“Jamie!” yells Robin.
She can’t even see what’s in front of her anymore. She’s being blinded by memories again of the lab. The fire... The screaming... The death.
“Jamie?” asks Eddie. Another bat screeches from behind, flying towards them “Shit” says Eddie.
It flies toward Eddie; he smacks it with the oar “Come on!” Eddie yells to the bat.
Now, different memories come to the surface. Her childhood home... on fire. Her and her sister Marcy... running through the flames in the hallway. Below her left nostril... a trail of blood. Marcy goes to open the front door, but the knob is searing hot "Ah!" she pulls her now burned hand into her chest "Jamie!"... Jamie lunges forward and opens the door, then pushes Marcy's back for her to go through it. Marcy runs outside “I'm gonna get Mom and Dad!” says Jamie... She heads to go up the stairs at the end of the hallway, but is startled as a body engulfed in flames emerges from the top of the stairs. It’s screaming, thrashing as it tumbles down... She shrieks in terror.
“Jamie, please!” yells Robin as she’s holding down the bat with her foot. Nancy, still trying to kill it with the oar.
Jamie steps backwards, tripping over a thick vine and falling to the ground.
Another bat flies toward Nancy “Nancy, behind you! Watch out!” yells Eddie. The bat latches onto Nancy’s back and begins pulling her. Robin runs over and tries to tear the bat off Nancy.
Jamie curls her legs into her chest and puts her hands over her ears. The figure lies still now... Jamie sobs "Mom."
The bat flies back toward Eddie “Got it, got it!” says Eddie. He swings the oar, but it breaks in half “God dammit, shit!” yells Eddie.
Steve is able to pull the bats tail off his throat with his hands and get to his feet. He holds onto the bats tail as it tries to fly away “Come here!” yells Steve.
“Robin finally gets the bat off of Nancy “Get it!” yells Robin. She swings the bats body to the ground by its tail “Nancy!”
Nancy takes the oar and stabs the bat into the ground “Go to hell!” yells Nancy.
“Come on, you son of a bitch!” yells Eddie, swinging the oar “I said come on! Let’s go!” The bat flies high into the air then swoops back down. Eddie stabs it directly in the mouth, then pins it to the ground.
...
Another figure, engulfed in flames, now wails and stumbles down the stairs... Her father... His body falls near her mother's. Fire spits and crackles from their corpses... Jaime falls to her knees... aggressively sobbing. The blood from her nose travels to her lips... She screams at the top of her lungs; all the windows of the house burst and shatter as flames exploding from them. Outside, Marcy yelps as she falls backwards, her hands and arms go to cover her face.
...
Steve uses all of his strength to swing the bat’s body into the ground. He steps his bare foot onto the bats head and pulls at its tail, ripping its body in half. He flings the bottom half behind him. He pants, then spits some of the pouring blood in his mouth onto the ground.
“Steve!” yells Nancy running to his side.
“Jesus Christ,” says Eddie “Jesus H. Christ!” he throws the oar to the ground.
“Are you okay?” Nancy asks Steve, examining him.
“Well, they took about a pound of flesh” says Steve “But other than that, yeah, never better.”
Robin storms over to Jamie, who’s still crouched down on the ground, knees to her chest, hands covering her ears.
“Do you wanna explain to everyone here what the hell that was?” asks Robin “We were getting attacked and you just sat there!”
...
Jamie doesn’t move, she continues to stare at the ground. She’s not able to take her eyes off her parents... The reflection of the flames dance in her blue eyes. “Jamie!” she hears her sister scream for her outside of the house “Jamie!”
Eddie comes over and crouches down next to her.
“Jamie...” says Eddie. She looks at him, tears in her eyes. She slowly takes her hands off her ears.
“... At least if El were here, she would have done something" says Robin.
“Robin!” says Nancy.
“Well, we could have died!” says Robin “I’m surprised the bats didn’t even attack you, just wide open for the taking but no.”
“... I’m sorry... I’m sorry...” says Jamie.
“Oh, you’re sorry” says Robin “She’s sorry, guys. That makes it okay, right?”
Jamie quickly turns her body to the side and vomits.
"Oh, shit" says Eddie, putting his hand on her back. She continues to gag and puke.
"Oh my God, are you okay?" asks Nancy.
Jamie spits onto the ground "I'm fine" she says, wiping her hand across her mouth “I just got... overwhelmed.”
“It’s okay” says Eddie, he looks to Robin “We survived.”
“Yeah... barely” mutters Robin.
Eddie offers a hand to Jamie. She takes it, getting up from the ground.
There are loud screeches in the distance. They all look to the sky, echoing with thunder and illuminating up with flashing red lightening; more bats are headed their way. The group runs to huddle together.
"Feeling better now?" asks Robin.
"Yeah, never better" says Jamie, sarcastically.
“Great,” says Robin “Well, here’s your chance.”
Six bats land around the gate, snarling, guarding it.
“Can you take that many?” Nancy asks Jamie.
“I think so...” says Jamie.
...
She takes a deep breath, and slowly steps forward. She slowly raises her hand and closes her eyes, trying to focus. Her memories still try to force their way into her head. Smoke starts to emerge from Jamie’s right hand. Suddenly, there’s more loud screeching in the distance. Jaime’s eyes bolt open, she pauses what she’s doing. More bats, headed towards them. Hundreds, if not, thousands.
“And that many?” asks Nancy.
Jamie shakes her head side to side.
“The woods. Come on!” says Nancy.
“Great. More running” says Robin.
They all follow Nancy, avoiding vines on the ground, as they run into the woods.

The Queen of Fire Meets the King of Hellfire: CH 9 - Watergate
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ST4 but with Jamie (Nine/009). I used the comic book (Into the Fire) as a rough starting point. Jamie possesses Pyrokinesis (the ability to create/control fire). Starts off when Eddie’s already fled to Reefer Rick’s.
Snippet:
“Wanna see?” asks Max.
“See what?” asks Jamie, coming over to Max.
“Here” says Max, handing her the binoculars.
“What is happening?” asks Lucas.
Max glares at Lucas as Jamie puts the binoculars up to her eyes and looks through them. She spots Steve in the boat “Oh... oh wow” says Jamie.
“Right?” says Max
“Okay,” says Lucas, as he snatches the binoculars back “You two have lost your binocular privileges.”

Chapter 9 – Watergate  Chapter 9 – Watergate
They’re all in the woods, walking quickly as they follow Dustin’s lead.
“Something’s happening” says Dustin, as he looks down at the compass.
“Dustin? Can you slow down? Dustin?” asks Eddie.
“I think we’re getting close” says Dustin, looking back.
Eddie quickly runs to grab Dustin, as he almost walks straight into a body of water “Watch your step big guy” says Eddie.
“Oh man” says Steve.
“You gotta be shitting me” says Dustin.
“Isn’t this... where we were earlier?” asks Jamie.
“Yeah” says Eddie “I thought these woods were familiar.”
“Lover’s Lake” says Robin.
“This is confounding” says Dustin.
“There’s a gate in Lover’s Lake?” asks Max.
“Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna’s the same way” says Nancy.
“Yeah, only one way to find out” says Steve.
 ...
Eddie and Steve plop the boat Eddie and Jamie had used earlier in their escape into the water.
Steve offers his hand up to Robin as she goes to get in the boat “Yeah, I’m just gonna, do that” says Robin as she puts one hand on Steve’s head and the other on Eddie’s, using them as leverage to step onto the boat “Thank you.”
“Yeah, that works too” says Steve.
Robin sits down as Eddie steps into the boat. Eddie offers his hand to Nancy as she gets in “Wheeler.”
“Thanks” says Nancy, taking his hand.
Dustin walks to step onto the boat next, but Eddie grabs Dustin’s head and pushes it back “Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us? This thing holds three people, tops, okay?” says Eddie.
“What about Jamie? Is she not coming with us?” asks Robin.
“I’d rather not” says Jamie “I... can’t swim, and the only reason I got in the boat earlier is cause, I thought I was gonna die, so.”
“But what if we need you?” asks Robin
“I don’t know if you’re aware, but fire and water don’t exactly mix” says Jamie “Plus, what’s the worst that can happen, you’re just going to see if it’s there, right?”
“God don’t say that. Don’t ever say that! Have you watched any horror movie, ever? You’ve just jinxed us.” says Steve.
“I’ve actually never seen a horror movie” says Jamie, shrugging her shoulders.
“Guys, we don’t have time for this” says Nancy “Jamie and Dustin, stay here. We’ll just be there and back.”
“But it’s my goddamn theory!” says Dustin.
“You heard Nance” says Robin.
“Who put her in charge?” asks Dustin.
“I did” says Robin.
“Compass?” asks Nancy.
Dustin takes the compass out of his pocket and hands it to Nancy.
Steve pushes the boat off the shore, and smoothly gets into it as it takes off.
“You said three!” says Dustin.
“Sorry” Steve whispers.
Jamie and Eddie look at each other, as the boat drifts off.
...
“Bedtimes at nine, kiddos!” says Robin.
“What?” yells Jamie.
“No, not you, Nine, I meant... never mind!” yells Robin.
“Okay, so, she also responds to Nine, good to know” says Robin.
 ...
“Ugh. When’d Steve get so hairy?” asks Lucas, looking at the group in the boat through a pair of binoculars.
“Right? I keep telling him he needs to tame that jungle, but he claims the ladies dig it” says Dustin.
“Let me see” says Max, taking the binoculars from around Lucas’s neck.
Max holds the binoculars up and looks through them. A few seconds of silence passes. She takes them down from her face and looks over to Jamie “Wanna see?” asks Max.
”Right?” says Max.
“Okay,” says Lucas, as he snatches the binoculars back “You two have lost your binocular privileges.”
 ...
Steve has already dove into the water. Dustin is keeping an eye on the boat through the binoculars “Come on Steve, come on...” whispers Dustin.
Suddenly, there’s the sound of radio chatter and talking in the distance. Flashlight beams shine through the trees.
“Shit. Down! Down!” whispers Lucas.
All four of them crouch down and lean against a log. They hear a man, yelling in the distance, getting closer.
Robin’s voice comes through the walkie “Dustin, you’re a goddamn Einstein. Steve found the gate-“ Dustin quickly switches off the walkie.
“Cops” says Max.
“Shit. Shit. Shit” says Lucas.
“They can’t find me. Max please,” whispers Jamie, grabbing Max’s wrist, hard enough to leave a bruise “I can’t go back there, you can’t let them take me back there.”
Max looks into Jamie's eyes, then looks down “Is this log hollow?” asks Max, she looks to Dustin.
Dustin looks to the side of it, then back at Max “Yeah” he whispers.
“Get inside it” Max says to Jamie. Jamie crawls over and begins to shuffle inside the log.
“You guys, stay with me” Max stands up “Hey officers! Over here! I found the killer! This way!” shouts Max. She starts to run, Dustin and Lucas following her. The cops, now chasing after them.
 ...
Jamie waits a few moments, before crawling back out. She stays crouched down, making sure there were no cops around “Nancy!” she hears yelling from the lake.
She jogs to the edge of the water, staying crouched down. She squints her eyes, trying to see what’s happening. She sees something fall out of the boat “Goddammit!” she hears Eddie yell. Is... is he the only one in the boat?
She sees Eddie standing, as if he’s about to dive in “No” says Jamie.
Eddie dives into the water “No, Eddie!” yells Jamie. She runs into the water up to her calves.
“Eddie!” yells Jamie. She’s terrified, she’s all alone now. The cops could come back at any second and take her away. Tears begin to fill her eyes.

Eddie quickly runs back and grabs his flask and the walkie. He walks up to Jamie and Steve.
Eddie smiles and dramatically flows his arm out, half bowing, “After you, fair maiden” says Eddie in a fantastical voice.
“Why thank you, kind sir” says Jamie, in her own fantastical voice, walking past him. He stares for a second before jogging up next to her.
“Oh my God, there’s two of them” says Steve.

Chapter 8 – I’ll Follow You Into Mordor
They’re all in a big circle, from left to right, is standing Lucas, Max, then Nancy. Dustin is pacing around the back, still trying to understand why the compass was leading them the wrong way. Then stands Robin and Steve. Jamie is sitting under Skull Rock on top of her old sweatpants, to avoid sitting in mud; Her knees are pulled to her chest. Eddie is to her left, squatting on the ground.
Eddie and Jamie fill them in on everything they saw with Patrick. They catch Eddie and Jamie up on everything that’s been happening with them; What they’ve learned about Vecna... and how he’s cursed Max.
Eddie untwists his flask “When we got to shore, we tried calling you guys, but, uh,” he takes a swig from the flask “The walkie was busted man. Drenched. But thankfully, we found another one," he looks to Jamie "And came here."
...
“Do you know what time this was? The attack?” asks Nancy.
“Yeah, no, I... I know exactly what time it was” he unclasps the watch from his wrist” “Cause my walkie wasn’t the only thing that got soaked” he tosses the watch to Nancy.
She catches it and examines the time “9:27” says Nancy.
“Same time our flashlights went kablooey” says Robin.
“Which, means what, exactly?” asks Steve.
“That that surge of energy was Vecna attacking Patrick” says Nancy. She tosses the watch back to Eddie.
“Well, we’re one step closer. We know how Vecna attacks” says Robin.
“And where he attacks from” says Lucas.
“So, now we just need to sneak into his lair in the Upside-Down and drive a stake through his heart” says Max.
“If he even has a heart” says Robin.
“A stake? Is he like, a vamp? Is he a vampire?” asks Steve.
“It was a metaphor” says Max.
“A bullet should work on him, right?” says Eddie.
“I say we chop his head off” says Lucas.
“Yeah, I’d say all of the above, but we can’t do any of that until we find a way into the Upside-Down” says Nancy.
“Well, we have Jamie now,” says Robin, looking over to her “You can get us there, right?”
“Uh... well... not really” says Jamie.
“...Okay, I get that you’re new to the group and all, but we kind of work as a team. So, maybe you can pitch in some of the group effort?” asks Robin.
“Phew” Steve lets out a whistle. Someone’s sassy.
“Look it’s not that I don’t want to help, I do, I just... I don’t have the same abilities as Eleven” says Jamie.
“What?” asks Steve.
“You don’t?” asks Max.
“Wait, so you can’t get us into the Upside-Down?” asks Nancy.
“Not... that I know of-“ says Jamie.
“BOOM!” yells Dustin. Everyone stops and stares at him “Bada... bada... boom.”
...
Steve shakes his head at him, confused.
“I was right. Skull Rock was North” says Dustin.
“Seriously? You’re serious?” asks Steve.
“Mm-hmm” replies Dustin.
“This is Skull Rock. Okay? You’re totally, absolutely, 100% wrong. Right now” says Steve.
“Yes” Dustin pauses “And no.”
“Oh my God” Steve throws his hands onto his face.
“This compass worked correctly when we left the Wheelers. It was correct when we got in the car on Curly. But it started to slip the further East we went. Now it’s way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn’t wrong. The compass was” says Dustin.
“So, you’re using faulty equipment. Dude, you’re still wrong” says Steve.
“Except, it isn’t faulty. Lucas, do you remember what can affect a compass?” asks Dustin.
“An electromagnetic field” says Lucas.
“Yep” says Dustin.
“I’m sorry, I must have skipped that class” says Robin.
“In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power. So, either there’s some super big magnet around here, or...” says Dustin
“There’s a gate” says Lucas.
“But we’re nowhere near the lab says Nancy.
“But what if, somehow, there’s another gate?” asks Dustin “A gate that we don’t know about. It’d have to be smaller, way less powerful.
“Snack-sized gate” says Robin.
“How? Why?” asks Steve.
“No idea. All I know is that something is causing this disturbance, and the last time we’ve seen anything like it, it was a gate. And I hope it is because then we’d have a way to Vecna. And a shot at freeing Max from this curse.”
Dustin walks up to Jamie “Jamie, are you still with us? I can’t imagine what’s going through your head right now, but we could really use your help with that gate, and well, ... not to rely on you too heavy, but everything else.”
“Uh, Dustin” says Nancy.
He turns around to look at her “Yeah?”
“Jamie... says she doesn’t have powers, like Eleven” says Robin.
Dustin looks back at Jamie “What? I thought you said you still have your powers?”
“I do! They’re just...not like Eleven’s!” says Jamie.
...
“So... what can you do?” asks Lucas.
Jamie looks to Eddie. He knows by now; she doesn’t like talking about her powers.
“The lady makes fire” says Eddie, clapping his hands together.
“Fire?” asks Dustin.
“Woah...” says Lucas, walking to stand next to Dustin.
“How much fire?” asks Dustin.
“I don’t know... some” says Jamie shrugging her shoulders.
“Cool” says Lucas, staring at her with amazement. Jamie squints her eyes at him.
“Okay, we can use that. Not at the moment, but we can definitely use that.”
...
“So, lets... head out gang” says Dustin, turning around and walking away.
“Hey, hey, hey, Eddie’s still a wanted man, we can’t just go for a hike in the woods” says Steve.
“We need to go to the gate. This little steel capsule might be the key to saving both Max and Eddie. What say you, Eddie the Banished?”
Everyone looks to Eddie. Eddie looks at the ground “I say, you’re asking me to follow you into Mordor.”
“Which, if I’m totally straight with you, I think is a really bad idea. But, uh,” he looks over to Jamie who’s smiling, noting their earlier conversation in the boathouse “The Shire...” he looks to the sky “The Shire is burning...”
Dustin starts hopping in place with excitement. Eddie stands up “So, Mordor it is.”
Jamie stands up and the group begins to follow Dustin’s lead into the woods.
“What is Mordor?” Steve asks to himself.
“It’s a realm in Lord of the Rings” says Jamie. She can tell Steve has no idea what she’s talking about “It’s basically a fortress, with volcanoes.”
“Ah...” says Steve.

The Queen of Fire Meets the King of Hellfire: CH 7 - Skull Rock
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ST4 but with Jamie (Nine/009). I used the comic book (Into the Fire) as a rough starting point. Jamie possesses Pyrokinesis (the ability to create/control fire). Starts off when Eddie’s already fled to Reefer Rick’s.
Snippet:
“Hi! I’m Robin” says Robin, taking Jamie’s hand and shaking it. Jamie stiffens. “Dustin’s told us you’re like El? That’s great, I mean, really great, you don’t know how much we appreciate you helping us” Robin is still shaking Jamie’s hand as she continues “You’re Jamie, right? Or Nine? Do you go by Nine? I’m not sure which is less offensive-“
“Okay” says Steve as he puts his hands on Robin’s shoulders “Why don’t we just get settled over here, yeah?”

Chapter 7 – Skull Rock
There’s a wet squelch of Eddie’s foot as it hits the ground, stepping out of the boat. They made it to shore, on the other side of Lovers Lake. He offers a hand to Jamie. She takes it, stepping out of the boat.
They hadn’t said a word to each other since they started paddling to shore. Both too in shock of what just happened. Poor Eddie, now having witnessed it twice.
Eddie pulls the walkie from his inside jacket pocket. It’s dripping with lake water. He tries to shake some of it off “Great” says Eddie. He tries to turn it on, but no luck; it’s fried.
“Is it dead?” asks Jamie... poor choice of words.
“...Yeah” he says, shaking more water off it.
“Here” says Jamie holding out her hand “Maybe I can dry it out.”
Eddie hands her the walkie. Jamie looks around before walking over to a spot on the ground. She sits with her feet tucked under her and sets the walkie on the ground. She hovers her right hand over it.
A few moments pass, Eddie’s been pacing, periodically looking at Jamie.
“Why don’t you sit down, try to conserve your energy” says Jamie.
“Little too antsy to sit still” says Eddie.
“Well, you’re making me nervous.”
"How long is this gonna take, exactly?”
“I have to do it slowly, unless you want a melted walkie” says Jamie, sounding a little annoyed.
“We need to get somewhere safe and secluded” says Eddie.
“We need to contact your friends. We have no supplies and nowhere to go” says Jamie.
“Do you not remember what just happened? The cops are gonna be scouring the lake any minute looking for us” says Eddie “We’re playing with fire by sitting here.”
The walkie bursts into flames. Jamie’s breathing is a bit heavy “Shit” she picks up the walkie, and grunts as she gets up “Now it’s definitely fried” she walks over to the lake and tosses it in. She shakes her hand and the fire on her hand goes out.
She walks up to Eddie, whose staring at her wide-eyed “Guess we’ll do your plan” she crosses her arms.
"Hey, uh... your nose" says Eddie.
Jamie puts her finger up to her nose, there's blood coming from her left nostril "Oh," she starts to wipe it with her hand "...That happens."
"It-" Eddie shakes his head "So, you're okay?"
"I'm fine" says Jamie.
Eddie clears his throat “Uh, well… I think there’s a place we can go.”
"Great" says Jamie, sniffling her nose.
Eddie awkwardly turns around “It’s... this way.”
 ...
After walking a while, they both hear a sound in the distance. As they both stop walking abruptly, Jamie lightly grabs Eddie’s arm, making him flinch.
She looks at him. She tries to hide her hurt her facial expression from his reaction “...Sorry” says Jamie.
“No, it’s- I’m just jumpy” says Eddie.
Jamie doesn’t say anything, avoiding eye contact. Yeah right.  The sound occurs again in the distance.
“It sounds like a jackhammer” says Eddie.
"...Jackhammer?" asks Jamie.
“Probably a construction sight... and I bet they have walkies. Come on” says Eddie, leading the way.
 …
Eddie and Jamie are crouching in a mix of big green bushes and tree branches. They’ve watched a couple of men go in and out of a porta potty. They’ve noticed they set their belt down, a belt that contains a walkie, on a pile of wood sitting in a truck bed, before they go in.
“Stay here” says Eddie. He runs to hide next to the truck. A constructor worker sets their belt down, then walks over and goes inside.
Eddie sneaks up and pulls the walkie out of the belt, then quickly runs back to meet Jamie.
“Nice work” says Jamie “Now what?”
“Now, we go to Skull Rock” says Eddie. He starts walking, leading the way.
“Uh, what’s Skull Rock?” asks Jamie.
“Just... trust me, come on” says Eddie waving his hand for her to join him.
Jamie lets out a breath of air and follows him.
 ...
“This... is Skull Rock” says Eddie as they come into the clearing.
“Oh,” Jamie can see how it looks like a skull, made out of rock “I see.”
Eddie walks inside of it, Jamie following. He crouches down and leans against the right wall, she does the same on the opposite side.
“If these guys don’t answer, I’m just gonna assume they’re also dead at this point and we can just call it a day” says Eddie.
“...Way to be Mr. Optimistic” mutters Jamie.
Eddie turns on the walkie; he speaks into it “Dustin, can you hear me? Wheeler?”
...
“Eddie. Holy Shit” says Dustin voice through the walkie “Are you okay?”
“Nah man. Pretty... Pretty goddamn far from okay” says Eddie.
“Where are you?” asks Dustin.
“Skull Rock. Do you know it?” asks Eddie.
“Uh, yeah, that’s near Cornwallis and-“
“Garrett, yeah. I know where that is” says Steve’s voice.
“Is Jamie still with you?” asks Dustin.
“Yeah, she’s here” says Eddie, looking up at her.
“Okay, hold tight. We’re coming. We’re coming” says Dustin.
Eddie nods his head, squeezing his eyes shut. He drops his hand with the walkie and sets it on the ground. He puts his hands in his face, letting out an exhausted sigh.
“Eddie” says Jamie.
He looks up to her.
“They said they’re coming... we’re gonna figure something out” says Jamie.
Eddie shakes his head “You don’t know that. From what I can tell, we are capital S, Screwed.”
 ...
Jamie’s picking at her fingernails “That guy... Patrick... is that... is that what happened to...”
“...To Chrissy?... Yeah” says Eddie.
“...And you guys... think I can stop it?”
“I don’t know...” says Eddie.
“There wasn’t even anything there... was there?”
“No” says Eddie “It’s like... it’s like it’s inside their head, or something.”
...
"I'm just glad I didn't have to- I mean, not glad that happened to him, I just- I didn't want to have to... you know..." says Jamie.
"...Maybe he would have just gotten scared and, backed off" says Eddie.
"...I guess so" says Jamie. She looks to Eddie "You're not... scared of me... are you?"
"No... I mean..." says Eddie.
Jamie shyly tucks her hair behind her ear then slowly sits on the ground. She sits crisscross applesauce, placing her hands in her lap.
"I'm just not used to it, is all" says Eddie "I'm actually used to people being scared of me."
"Scared of you?" asks Jamie.
Eddie gives a slight smile.
"You're not scary" says Jamie.
"Well I've been off my game the past couple of says, due to unforeseen circumstances."
"Mm, yeah, blame it on Vecna."
Eddie chuckles "I will, cause he's the absolute worst."
Jamie smiles back at Eddie, she breaks eye contact looking down at her lap.
“So, does anyone ever come out here, to Skull Rock, I mean... do we need to be worried?” asks Jamie.
“We should be fine..." says Eddie "We’ll just, need to keep an ear out."
“Kind of a, neat place... to hang out” says Jamie.
“Yeah, it’s kind of a known spot, for specific... activities” says Eddie.
“What kind of activities?” asks Jamie.
“You know... making out and such. Stuff normal horny high school teenagers do” says Eddie.
Jamie looks away flustered “Oh...” she stares into her lap, fiddling with the sweatpants material by her ankles.
Eddie didn’t mean to make her uncomfortable. But hey, she asked. Then again, he didn’t need to say activities. He realizes there might be another reason why she’s uncomfortable: She’s not a normal teenager. She didn't seem to know what a jackhammer was. She said she was in a lab, then a mental hospital. Has she ever been to school? She did say earlier “...Can’t remember a time where I wasn’t locked up somewhere.”
...
“Have you ever... been to school?” asks Eddie.
Jamie looks up at him, thankful he changed the subject.
“Some, when I was little... when I was with my parents” says Jamie.
God, please don’t ask her about her parents. She can’t handle that right now. She’s struggling to keep it together enough as it is. Maybe they can go back to the awkward discussion of making out, and she can tell him how she’s never kissed anyone... ever... yeah no, hard pass on that as well.
“Oh, so you’ve never gotten to experience the true joy of American high school?” asks Eddie.
Jamie smiles “No... unfortunately.”
“You’re not missing out, trust me. A bunch of nobodies, trying to be somebody. Conforming to societies standards of what’s right, what’s wrong, what’s cool, what’s not, who’s worth paying attention to, and who’s worth getting shit on.”
“...And, after they decide, what’s right, what’s cool, and who gets shit on, they come here and make out?” asks Jaime.
Eddie laughs “Now you’re getting it!”
Jaime laughs “...What about after school?... What then?"
Eddie’s smile fades “Shit well... I was gonna graduate... but then... ”
“...I’m sorry” says Jamie.
“Why are you sorry? Not your fault.”
“I know, I just... it still sucks.”
“...Yeah” says Eddie. He stands up “Well, what I had planned for my future doesn’t require a degree anyways, not really.”
“What did you... have planned?”
“Oh, you know just, touring... with my band, livin’ it up. Making it big” says Eddie. He looks over to Jamie and scoffs “Sounds stupid, I know.”
”You’re in a band?” asks Jamie.
“Yeah.”
”What do you?…”
”Uh, guitar.”
Jamie smiles and nods “Hm… it’s not stupid... I mean, I’m as tone deaf as a dead fish, but still, don’t sell yourself short... not before you’ve even tried” says Jamie.
Eddie walks over to Jamie, “And the...” he slides his back against the wall until he’s sitting next to her “Being wanted for murder?”
“Right well... we’re working on that” says Jamie, trying to hide her slight smile.
“Right” says Eddie, not hiding his.
“So... what else is school like?” ask Jamie.
“You really want to know?”
Jamie looks into Eddie’s eyes; she nods her head.
“...Uh, okay, well, you get up at the ass crack of Dawn, right? Or at least, you’re supposed to...” starts Eddie.
...
About 30 or so minutes later, there’s a voice in the woods “Bada bing, bada boom. There she is, Henderson. Skull Rock. In your face man. In your stupid, cocky little face” says Steve has he comes through a thin patch of tree limbs.
“Doesn’t make sense” says Dustin.
“Yeah, yeah. Even with it staring you in the face, you can’t admit it. You just can’t admit that you’re wrong, you little butthead.”
There’s a loud thump as Eddie’s feet hit the ground, jumping from a rock “I concur. You, Dustin Henderson, are a... total butthead.”
“Jesus, we thought you were a goner” says Dustin. He walks over and gives Eddie a hug.
Eddie hugs him back “Yeah, me too, man. Me too.”
“Where’s Jamie?” asks Dustin.
Jamie comes out from behind the rock Eddie had jumped off. She walks and stands next to Eddie.
“Hi” says Jamie.
“The hell is she wearing?” asks Steve “Metallica?”
“Hey! Never, speak ill, of Metallica. Okay, Harrington?” says Eddie pointing his finger in his face.
Steve furrows his brows at him “Whatever, dude.”
Nancy, Robin, Max, and Lucas now walk up the trail and join them.
“Oh, more people” says Jamie. She makes eye contact with Max. Jamie’s not able to read Max’s expression. Max starts to approach her. Oh no, here we go again. Jamie stiffens.
“Here” says Max handing Jamie what looks like jeans and a blue T-shirt “I figured you’d probably wanna get out of Reefer Rick’s clothes. You look about my size and, I’m not sure what your style is. I know El’s is a bit different from mine, but hopefully these are okay?”
“Oh... thank you” says Jamie, taking the clothes from Max.
Max looks down at the bag in her hand “Oh, and here’s some stuff too, to freshen up. Not that you stink or anything, I just, figured... you know.”
“Thank you” says Jamie, taking the bag.
“Yeah” says Max, giving an awkward smile “And... I’m sorry about earlier... I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that” says Max.
“It’s okay...” says Jamie “So, you believe me now, that I’m not Vecna?”
“No, I know, you’re definitely not him” says Max. Jamie gives a slight smile.
“But one thing to know... in case you ever need it.” Max gets close to Jamie, lowering her voice “He likes to use your memories against you. Bad ones... but... you can block them out...with the good ones. It’s not easy... but... I don’t know... it saved my life” says Max.
“Right, yeah” says Robin. She lets go of Jamie’s hand.
Jamie goes behind the rock she was behind earlier to change clothes, as the rest of the group goes to settle near Skull Rock. She looks at the blue shirt, it’s a bit plain. She’s not sure what her style is, but she’s not getting a tingly feeling or anything looking at it. She decides to just keep wearing the Metallica shirt. But she’s definitely putting on some deodorant and changing into the jeans Max brought her; those she likes. Plus, the sweatpants she’s wearing are now caked in mud at the bottom. Also, her once white slip-ons, now brown in color

Chapter 6 – Hey, Freak!
Jamie is lying down in the boat. Her left leg is lying flat, her right leg bent with her foot on the floor of the boat. Her back is leaning against the seat of it. Her head is tilting sideways to the right, leaning against the inside of the boat, sleeping.
Eddie's sitting on one of the stools, looking out the window. He’s been turning back, eyeballing a six pack the gang brought him for a while now. He could really use a beer... hell he deserves one.
He stands up and walks towards the beer. The floor creaks. He pauses and looks at Jamie, it didn’t wake her. He leans down and pulls out a can. He looks at Jamie before turning and walking back to the stool. He sits down and turns his back around to look at Jamie as he slowly opens the can with a loud snap of hissing carbonation. He grits his teeth at the noise. However, Jamie still doesn’t wake up. Success.
Eddie turns back around and looks out the window. He sighs and takes a sip of beer. A moment passes, he takes another sip.
“What are you doing?” asks Jamie right next to his side. Eddie sputters out his beer with a jump. He falls off the stool and onto the ground, landing on his side.
Jamie’s hand quickly slaps over her mouth in shock, then tries not to laugh.
“God dammit!” says Eddie.
“Are you okay?” asks Jamie, still trying to stifle her laughter.
“What the hell is wrong with you?! I thought you were sleeping” Eddie says, standing up.
“I was, but then I saw an opportunity to terrorize you.”
“Don’t you think my poor crippled heart has been through enough?”
“I’m sorry. As... hilarious as that was, I’m sorry” says Jamie.
Eddie rolls his eyes and picks up the stool “Feet of a goddamn field mouse” he slams the stool in the upright position and sits on it.
“Sorry I made you spill... your beer” says Jamie.
“It’s fine, only spilled a little” says Eddie.
Jamie walks over to the six pack, now five pack, and picks up a can. She examines it “You know I’ve never had one?”
Eddie looks over to her.
“I’ve never had any alcohol. Like, ever.”
Eddie stands up and walks over to her. He slowly takes the beer out of her hand “Probably for the best... don’t think a drunk superhero would be very effective” says Eddie.
Jamie picks up the box of Honeycombs from the ground. She opens it and shoves her hand in. She takes a handful into her mouth “Since when are you the goody two shoes in this relationship?” she asks, mouth full of honeycombs.
Eddie gives her the side eye.
“Plus, the amount of drugs and tranquilizers I’ve been on, I doubt a little beer would do anything to me” she looks at the beer can in his hand.
“Well let’s not find out today, kay sweetheart? Maybe once we defeat Vecna and if I don’t go to prison, then, we’ll get you a proper first drink.”
“Fine” says Jamie, taking another handful into her mouth.
...
“Eddie?” asks Jamie.
“Mm?”
“What if I don’t want to fight this Vecna person? I mean, this whole superhero thing, I think you guys are exaggerating, maybe just a little.”
“I don’t think anyone’s gonna force you, but... you’d kind of be saving our asses. Dustin seemed excited about it. He must think you can do something” says Eddie.
“And the girl? Max?... she... kind of hates me.”
“Oh, come on now, hates a strong word. I think she was just, being protective, of her friends” says Eddie.
“Protective... from me. So... she thinks I’m dangerous. I mean I am, I- I can be, but I always try to avoid using my... abilities. Especially,” she looks to Eddie then looks down “...I’ve done things I’m... not proud of.”
...
“Well... I forgive you, if that means anything” says Eddie.
Jamie looks at him softly “I appreciate the sentiment anyways" she sets the cereal box on the floor.
...
“Dustin asked me if I still had my powers. Does that mean, Eleven’s are gone?” asks Jamie.
“I don’t know... I guess so?” says Eddie.
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
“Why not?”
“Cause we... were born with them... I don’t get how they can just, go away. Trust me, I would have done that already, if it was possible.”
...
Suddenly, they hear a vehicle approaching. Eddie quickly crouches down, Jamie mimics him. They slowly come up to look out the window and see a truck. Jason’s truck. Eddie quickly crouches down, pulling Jamie down next to him.
“Is it them?” asks Jamie.
“No. Shit. Shit, we are so screwed” says Eddie.
“Why? Who is it?” asks Jamie.
Eddie runs over and looks out the other window of the boathouse.
“Eddie?” asks Jamie.
Eddie runs and grabs the walkie “Dustin, you there? It’s Eddie, you remember me, right? Hey, if anyone’s there, I really think we might be in a bit of trouble here, okay? Wheeler?”
He smacks the radio “Anybody?!” Eddie’s panting heavily, clearly frightened.
“Eddie, try and stay calm. Maybe they'll just leave” says Jamie.
“No, Jamie, you don’t understand, those guys are looking for me and they are going to kill me.”
Jamie cautiously lifts her head and looks out the window again... Okay, now she's panicking a little.
 ...
The sun has set, it’s now dark outside. Jamie’s sitting against a wall near Eddie, staying out of sight of the windows. As Eddie’s looking out, keeping an eye on the house, he suddenly sees Jason in the upstairs bedroom window, looking directly at the boathouse.
He quickly crouches down and tries again on the walkie “Dustin? Please. Are... are you there?”
Eddie stares at the boat, coming up with an idea “Never mind” he sets down the walkie. He looks to Jamie “Come on” he says, ripping the tarp off the boat.
“What are we doing?” asks Jamie.
“Getting the hell out of here” says Eddie. Jamie stands up and runs over to the boat, helping Eddie “Just so you know, I can’t swim” says Jamie.
Eddie grabs a paddle and hands one to Jamie “Then I suggest staying in the boat” he starts moving the boat out of the dock, he grabs the other paddle “Get in.”
 ...
Eddie and Jamie are now on the lake in the boat. Eddie is in the front, paddling on the left side. Jamie is in the back, paddling on the right.
“Hey, freak!” yells Jason.
Eddie and Jamie both turn around, panicked. It’s Jason and his friend, Patrick.
“Where do you think you’re going?!” yells Jason.
“Shit” says Eddie “Switch me!” he says to Jamie. She quickly gets up and they trade spots.
“Hey, who’s in there with him?” asks Patrick.
“I have no idea” Jason squints his eyes “Probably another member of his sick cult” Jason begins taking off his jacket.
...
Eddie tries to start the engine of boat, pulling on the string “Come on! Just, come on...”
“You scared of some water? Let’s go!” Jason says to Patrick as he’s taking off his shoes. Patrick starts taking off his jacket.
“You piece of shit!” says Eddie, the engine is still not starting “Come on. Gotta help me out here, man” he says patting the engine. He pulls the string again “Come on!”
Jason climbs into the water.
Eddie pulls again “Come on, you piece of shit!” he pulls it again, and again “Goddamn it!” he smacks the engine in frustration.
Jason is now completely in the water, swimming towards them.
“Eddie!” yells Jamie. Eddie whips his head around “Switch with me” she says.
“It’s busted!” says Eddie.
“No, I know... I’m... I'm not gonna let them hurt you... switch me” says Jamie.
No time to argue, or even think, Eddie switches spots with her. Jason is swimming towards them, and now so is Patrick.
“What are you gonna do?” asks Eddie.
Jamie isn't sure how to answer, she doesn't even know what she might do. As they get close, Eddie grabs an oar. He stands up, holding it as a weapon.
“Hey, stay back man!” says Eddie.
Jamie still sitting, grabs the edge of the boat and scoots closer to the edge.
“Stay back!” yells Eddie.
Jamie takes a deep breath; she slowly lifts her left hand up.
Suddenly, Patrick stops swimming. Jason turns around to Patrick “Hey, come on, we almost have them!” says Jason.
Patrick looks around in fear, ignoring Jason.
“Hey, Patrick” says Jason “Patrick!”
“What are you doing?” Eddie asks Jamie.
She looks at Eddie “Nothing I-... I’m not doing anything.”
“Patrick!” yells Jason.
All of a sudden, Patrick gets pulled completely under water making all three of them jump.
...
It’s quiet, Patrick’s just... gone. They all look at the spot he was in, confused as to what happened.
“Patrick” says Jason “Hey, Patrick... Patrick!”
There’s an aggressive splash as Patrick shoots up out of the water, about ten feet into the air. This makes Eddie stumble backwards and fall out of the boat.
“Eddie!” yells Jamie, looking into the water where he fell. She looks back, seeing Patrick floating in the air. Patrick’s left leg breaks, snapping loudly.
Eddie resurfaces in the water, gasping for air. All three now watching Patrick. His right leg snaps. His right arm snaps. Jamie whimpers and covers her ears, trying to muffle the horrific sound of his bones cracking. His left arm snaps. His jaw snaps. Finally, his head snaps backward, and his body suddenly drops, then smacks into the water.
They’re all frozen. Eddie still trying to stay afloat, swims and grabs the side of the boat.
“Eddie” says Jamie, taking her hands off her ears. She shakily reaches her hand out to help pull him up into the boat “Are you okay?” asks Jamie. Eddie nods his head, breathing hard. Jason is shaking with fear. He turns around, looking at them. Jason opens his mouth as if he were going to say something, then doesn’t. Eddie falls into the boat with a grunt.
Jason stares at them for a few moments, before turning back and slowly swimming towards Patrick. He struggles to grab onto him, petrified at the condition of his now dead friend’s broken and lifeless body. He gives Eddie and Jaime one last look, then begins swimming, pulling Patrick’s body to shore.

“Unfortunately, it’s not much prettier in here” Eddie gestures his hand out for her to go first.
Jamie steps inside. She paces around a little, before standing awkwardly, folding her arms at her chest.
“Do you... wanna sit?” Eddie takes the tarp off the boat.
Jamie remains silent as she steps into the boat. After she sits down, Eddie gets in and sits across from her.
“So… superpowers, huh?” asks Eddie.
“Really won’t let that go, huh?” asks Jamie.
“Can you really blame me?... what... what kind of powers are they?”
Jamie stares at him then at her feet, unsure about sharing.
“You don’t have to share. Just, curious. I mean, if you’re like this... Eleven person, and if they thought you were Vecna... that’s... some pretty powerful stuff” says Eddie.
“Well, Eleven and I... we’re different.”
“... Different how?”
...
“...What does this, Vecna guy do?” asks Jamie.
Eddie sighs. This chick loves to change the subject. She is seriously, not a sharer. He’d really rather not relive Chrissy’s death again explaining it, but Dustin did say to fill her in on what’s going on.
“Well, this girl... from school, Chrissy. She came over to my trailer for... something... and then all of sudden she was in this kind of... trance. And... I couldn’t wake her up. I tried but she just wouldn’t. Then her body started like... levitating... and her bones they... they snapped and-“ Eddie clears his throat “Sorry.”
“I- I can’t do anything like that” says Jamie.
“What?” asks Eddie.
“That maybe sounds like something Eleven could do. Moving things… with her mind, but... yeah, I’m... I’m not like Eleven.”
“Oh...” says Eddie. He’s a bit relieved that he isn’t sitting across from someone that was possibly capable of doing something like that. Something that horrific.
“Shit, well, if we had told them that, that would have cleared things right up. That you know... you’re not Vecna” says Eddie.
“Well, I didn’t know what they were talking about! I mean Vecna? What kind of name is that anyway?” asks Jamie.
“Vecna isn’t his actual name. It’s just really similar to this D&D character, so we’ve been going with that.”
“Mmhm...” says Jamie.
“So... what can you do?” asks Eddie as he pulls a pack of cigarettes and a lighter out of his pocket.
“I can... generate heat...” says Jamie.
What does that, mean exactly?” asks Eddie as pulls a cigarette out of the box.
“Heat, which... can become fire and um...”
“Shit, so-” Eddie puts the cigarette in his mouth and begins to hold his lighter up to it “Uh- Wait, here” says Jamie as she leans forward, sticking her hand out towards his cigarette.
“You want one?” he asks, with the unlit cigarette hanging in his mouth.
“No, I just-" she points out her index finger to his cigarette "I’m trying to show you.”
Eddie leans forward with this cigarette in his mouth and she touches her finger to the tip. As the end of the cigarette begins to light, he inhales.
They look into each others eyes as she removes her finger. Eddie takes the cigarette out of his mouth and exhales the smoke.
“You really shouldn’t smoke, though, it’s bad for you” she says, waving the smoke out of her face.
...
“So, I’ve heard” says Eddie “Wait so... you can... basically, make fire with... your hands?” asks Eddie.
“Or feet or- I mean it's" Jamie gestures to her entire body "All of me I just, direct it I guess... ”
“Well, that’s just... about the coolest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
“Yeah?” asks Jamie, surprised at his reaction.
“Are you serious? Totally badass!”
“Mm... I don’t know about that.”
“Oh, trust me. My D&D group” he looks down at his shirt “Oh, hey! Hellfire! Look at that! Man, they’d probably bow down and kiss your feet. Maybe even bake you cookies, or whatever else you wanted. Especially, Gareth. God love him.”
Jamie lets out a light laugh “I light one little cigarette and it sounds like you guys are ready to follow me into Mordor.”
...
"Did you just make a Lord of the Rings reference?” asks Eddie.
Jamie looks down, twiddling her fingers.
...
“Oh my God... are you a nerd?” Eddie teases.
“Excuse me! Reading that does not make me a nerd” says Jamie.
“Oh, it absolutely does.”
Jamie scoffs at him.
“Hey, I read it too! So, we’re both nerds” says Eddie.
“Yeah, you, maybe a little more.”
“Ah, your words don’t wound me. Believe me, I’ve heard it all. And there are worse things than being a nerd.”
"A freak?" asks Jamie.
"...You catch on quick" says Eddie, flicking the ashes off of his cigarette.
“Well... in that case... it’s kind of my dream spot for a vacation” Jamie looks at her nails, picking at them as she talks “Well, fantasy location anyway I-, I’d probably thrive in that environment, you know?... Maybe take a lava bath, or something."
She looks up at Eddie and finds him staring at her intensely.
“...Now you’re looking at me like I’m a freak” says Jamie.
Eddie scoffs, he finally breaks his stare and looks away “If anyone’s the freak here, it’s me, sweetheart.”
“Yeah, you said that but... guess I don’t see it?” says Jamie.
He takes a puff off his cigarette, then exhales the smoke “Oh, I’ve always been seen as one. It’s actually my nick name at school, ‘Eddie the freak Munson’, And... plus, they think I killed her. Chrissy. I was with her when it happened and typically a girl like that would not be associating with a guy like me so, painted a pretty easy picture in their minds of what happened.”
“...But you didn’t” says Jamie.
“Yeah, well.”
“You’re not a freak, Eddie.”
“I know people that would bet money against that, hell their car. Their mother.”
Jamie gives a look of sympathy to Eddie. She entirely relates to how he’s feeling. Her powers were rare, most kids at the lab possessed the ability of Telekinesis and traveling with their mind. Kali, 008, of course, had different abilities as well. To make people see whatever she wanted them too. But that’s practically harmless, she’s not actually hurting the person. Jamie’s powers were dangerous, through and through. Her parents, as much as she can remember them, were scared of her. Despite how much they tried to hide it and not treat her any different than her twin sister, Macy. Even Macy at times... she’s seen a look of fear in her eyes, mounted on top of lingering resentment towards Jamie, for what happened to their parents. Macy’s told her before she doesn’t blame her, but Jamie knows she’s the only one to blame. There’s no doubt about it, she was a freak. Even In a lab full of other kids with superpowers, and in a mental hospital. Not that it was a competition, but... she was the freak of freaks.
...
Jamie breaks the silence “Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.”
“Are you having a stroke?” asks Eddie.
Jamie laughs “No! It’s a quote, from Alice in Wonderland. It took me a week to memorize it, and then another week trying to figure out what the hell it meant.”
“Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me” says Eddie.
“Well... I think it means: People see you, from a certain perspective. Their perspective. And even though, it’s probably not accurate. It must be some image you’re projecting, on some level. And you can spend time worrying about changing their perspective, to see all of you, and not just that image... Or, you can just, be. And be okay with letting them see what they want.”
...
“Yeah, no... I- I can see that” says Eddie.
“Okay, or it’s a bunch of gibberish and the author was doing cocaine. But I’d like to think it’s the first one” says Jamie.
Eddie laughs “So, you read a lot, huh?” he asks.
“Yeah... not much else to do in that place. Other than lose your mind.”
“Well, I hope the outside world hasn’t been too disappointing, thus far” says Eddie as he puts out his cigarette.
...
“So, you and Eleven, how do you know each other? I mean are you guys like, related?” asks Eddie.
“No, we’re not related... she was just, another kid... at the lab.”
“Wait... Hawkins Lab?”
Jamie nods her head.
“Why were you at a lab, where they do military research?” asks Eddie.
“I don’t know... I mean... we did tests” says Jamie.
“What kind of tests?”
...
Jamie’s head begins to flash with images again. She has a device with wires on her head... Screaming. Blood is pouring from both her nostrils. There’s a man, engulfed in flames, screaming. Another man, dressed in white, desperately trying to open the lab door, but it won’t open. The man on fire collapses to the ground, screaming in agony. The room is filled with smoke, the other man is coughing harshly. There’s now blood coming from Jaime’s eyes. The man collapses to the ground. Jamie's breathing hard, her face covered in blood. Her eyes roll into the back of her head. Her body goes limp, and she falls out of the chair, onto the ground, unconscious.
...
Jamie looks at Eddie with watery eyes and an angry expression “... don't wanna talk about it." A tear falls onto Jamie’s cheek. The tear slowly hisses and evaporates, due to the heat coming off her skin.

The Queen of Fire Meets the King of Hellfire: CH 4 - Mad Max
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ST4 but with Jamie (Nine/009). I used the comic book (Into the Fire) as a rough starting point. Jamie possesses Pyrokinesis (the ability to create/control fire). Starts off when Eddie’s already fled to Reefer Rick’s.
Snippet:
“Jamie?” asks Eddie.
The lock on the door clicks and Jamie cracks the door open the tiniest bit, peering through it. She examines Dustin and Max.
“See? Look at them. Harmless” says Eddie. Max gives an awkward smile. Dustin gives a big goofy smile and waves.

Chapter 4:  Mad Max
Eddie, Dustin, and Max are outside the backdoor of the house. “She’s sleeping,” Eddie says in a lowered voice “So, you guys stay quiet, and I’ll try to bring her out. And... try not to be weird.”
“You got it” says Dustin.
They all quietly walk into the house. Dustin and Max follow Eddie as he walks up the stairs and to the bedroom door. It’s closed now. He softly knocks “Jamie?”
...
“Jamie, it’s Eddie.”
 ...
“Eddie?” she asks from the other side of the door.
“Yeah, hey so uh-“ says Eddie.
“I heard cop cars” says Jamie “I thought... I thought you turned me in.”
“No, no way, I wouldn’t do that. I promise. They went past here, towards the trailer park. I don’t know what’s going on.”
 ...
Jamie unlocks the door and opens it.
“Wait, Jamie!” says Eddie.
She gasps as she sees a boy and a girl standing behind Eddie. She quickly leaps back into the bedroom, slams the door, and locks it.
“Wait!” yells Eddie “Jamie, these are my friends, Dustin and... Max?” he looks to Max for confirmation. Max quickly nods her head.
“-and Max!” says Eddie.
“You just said you swore you wouldn’t tell!” yells Jamie “You’re a lying asshole! “SCREW YOU!” she bangs on the door. Dustin and Max look to each other with wide eyes, this'll be interesting.
“Jamie, listen!” says Eddie “You can trust them. Why would I have brought them here if you couldn’t? I said no cops and I meant it, but these guys can help you, if you let them.”
 ...
 - - -
Jamie is now sitting at the table she and Eddie were eating at earlier. Dustin is sitting in the other chair. Eddie and Max standing further behind him.
“So, Eddie says you might need some help” says Dustin.
Jamie looks at Eddie, still obviously angry “Maybe.”
“What’s going on exactly?” asks Dustin.
“I just... need to get out of Hawkins… ” says Jamie.
"Why?" asks Dustin.
"Because it sucks, okay?" says Jamie.
“Fair enough" says Dustin "... Do you have any friends... family?”
“No... it’s just me.”
“Why did you come here?”
Jamie shrugs “It’s the first safe place I came across.”
“Well, where did you come from?” asks Dustin.
Jamie looks at Eddie, he must have not told them everything. She’s unsure if she should tell Dustin the truth, that she had escaped from Pennhurst Mental Hospital.
Eddie suddenly steps in “It doesn’t really matter, does it? I mean she just needs some help getting out of Hawkins.”
Jamie was gladly surprised Eddie covered for her “Yeah, exactly” she awkwardly looks to the side. She drops her left arm, letting it fall open on her lap.
“Well with everything else going on, it’s unfortunately, a bit low on our list of-“ Dustin does a double take, looking at the tattoo on her wrist.
“Holy shit” Dustin looks up at her face. She looks back at him, scrunching her face. Dustin takes a big gulp, his mouth and throat now completely dry “Holy shit. HHOOLLYY shit” says Dustin.
Jamie’s eyes grow big with concern, unsure of what’s going on.
“What, dude?” Eddie asks. Dustin practically falls out of his chair and runs to grab Max’s arm. He begins to pull her down the hall into the bathroom.
“What the hell are you doing?” asks Max as she’s being pulled by Dustin.
“Dustin?” asks Eddie.
“I just need to side-bar with Max really quick! It’ll just take a second!” yells Dustin, his voice high-pitched and wavering. He slams the bathroom door behind them.
Jamie and Eddie look down the hall then at each other “Your friends are also freaks” says Jamie.
“Thank you” says Eddie with a genuine smile.
...
Dustin and Max now in the bathroom, “Dustin, what are you doing?!” asks Max.
“Shhh! She’s a number!” he whispers.
“What?” asks Max.
“She’s a number like Eleven! I saw it on her wrist, zero zero nine, she’s number Nine!”
“Holy shit, are you serious?” says Max.
“Holy shit” says Dustin.
“What do we- how do we- where did she come from?” asks Max.
“I don’t know, but we’re gonna find out. She couldn’t have gotten any luckier, finding us? And with everything that’s going on? I mean it’s like fate!” says Dustin.
“Please, Dustin, you really believe in all that fate nonsense?”
“All I know is, out of everyone in this town, we found her. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. But you gotta love the Universe’s timing.”
“Wooh!” Dustin claps his hands together and shakes his whole body, trying to physically get the nerves out “Okay, let’s get back out there, we’re trying not to be weird, remember?” asks Dustin.
“Wait” says Max holding Dustin’s arm.
“What?” asks Dustin.
“The timing” says Max.
“The timing?” asks Dustin.
“You’re right. It is a little weird that all this stuff starts happening. The Upside-Down, coming back. And then she, someone like El, with powers, shows up.”
“...You don’t think, she has something to do with it?” asks Dustin.
“Maybe, maybe not. Only one way to find out.”
 ...
Dustin opens the door and her and Max walk back to Eddie and Jamie. Dustin slowly sits back down in front of Jamie, Max standing behind him. Both giving even more awkward smiles than earlier and having a more intense energy than before.
“Hi” says Dustin.
“...Hello” replied Jamie.
“So... where is it exactly, that you came from?” asks Dustin.
“Does it really matter?” asks Jamie. Geez, why are they so adamant on knowing her past?
Dustin doesn’t want to push Jamie, knowing all too well how delicate Eleven was to deal with in the beginning. Max, however, begins to reach a breaking point of frustration. The last couple years of her life have been ripped apart, filled with loss, despair, and anger. Because of this. Because of the Upside-Down. She’s been doing her best to hold it together. But this Upside-Down bull-shit has overtaken her, her family, and her friends one too many times. She is sick of the manipulation. She’s pissed, really pissed.
“Look” says Max, taking an aggressive step towards Jamie “We don’t know you, and some seriously crazy shit has been going on. So, you’re gonna tell us where you came from and what you’re doing here. Now” says Max.
“Hey, take it easy” says Eddie.
“No” says Max looking at Eddie then back to Jamie “We’re done playing nice.”
Jamie doesn’t understand what this girl’s problem is. She’s no stranger to emotional outbursts, she’s had plenty herself. Not to mention in the hospital, she’s had other patients scream at her, and hell normally, she’d scream back. She’s seen things most of the general population couldn’t even imagine, there and at the lab. She’s had no choice but to learn to fight back if she’s been backed into a corner. But she doesn’t go picking fights. Not to mention for years now, she’s always been on a dose of sedative medication, making her very nonchalant to most triggers. She can tell she’s possibly withdrawing from it, feeling more alert than before. However, she looks to Eddie, whose giving her a sympathetic look. She makes the decision to not escalate the situation, since perhaps... maybe they can help her.
“Pennhurst...” says Jamie.
"Pennhurst... the mental hopsital?" asks Max. She and Dustin look at each other confused.
“Why were you in Pennhurst?” asks Dustin.
“Why do you think I was there?” Jamie asks sarcastically “Some real nice friends you have, Eddie.”
“Seriously, guys-“ starts Eddie, but is interrupted by Max.
“How long, have you been there?” asks Max.
Jamie shrugs her shoulders “Can’t remember a time where I wasn’t locked up somewhere.”
“And what, you escaped?” asks Max, the conversation begins to increase in intensity.
“Yeah” says Jamie.
“When?” asks Max.
“Yesterday!”
“Yesterday? How interesting!” says Max, raising her voice.
“What the hell are you talking about? You know what,” Jamie stands up “You people are crazy! And that’s saying something, coming from a MENTAL PATIENT!”
“Woah! Jesus Christ, can we all just calm the hell down?!” asks Eddie.
“Max, seriously...“ says Dustin.
 ...
“Why did you kill Chrissy?” asks Max. Dustin’s mouth hangs wide open, Eddie looking more confused than ever. Everyone’s staring at Jamie.
“Well?!” asks Max.
“What?!” yells Jamie, throwing her hands up “I don’t know a Chrissy! And I didn’t kill anyone!”
“Okay everyone, STOP!” yells Dustin.
“Jesus Christ” Eddie puts his hands in his face. Max and Jamie are staring at each other intensely.
Jamie’s eyes begin to water. Of course, her first time out in the real world, the first few people she meets, already accusing her of being a monster. And sure... she’s killed people before, accidentally. Is Max maybe talking about someone at the hospital, when she escaped? She knows she used her powers on one person. And... set part of the building on fire. But she didn’t kill anyone... did she? She hopes not of course, she's not a cold hearted nutcase but, if she had... this girl certainly doesn’t seem very forgiving, and she’s not sticking around to find out, and get dragged back to that place.
“I... I’m leaving” Jamie says, her voice breaking. She only takes one step towards the exit and Max steps in her way.
“Like hell you are” says Max.
“Get out of the way” says Jamie.
“Max... don’t” says Dustin coming to her side, grabbing her arm.
Max takes a quick glance at Jamie’s wrist where her tattoo is, then back up to her face. Jamie mirrors her actions, not sure what she was looking at. She wouldn’t be looking at her tattoo... would she?
As far as Max knew, Jamie had the same powers as Eleven. If she tried to stop her, she could get flung against the wall, or worse, end up like Chrissy.
The room was so quiet you could hear a pen drop, aside from the heavy angered breathing coming from Max and Jamie. Both of their chests heaving. Dustin and Eddie stay frozen, unsure if a full-blown fight is about to happen.
Then... Max steps out of her way. Dustin lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Jamie begins to walk to the backdoor, quickly glancing at Eddie, looking extremely hurt.
 ...
“We’re friends with Eleven!” yells Dustin.
"Dustin!" says Max.
“We can’t just let her walk away!” says Dustin.
Jamie stops walking “Eleven?” she whispers to herself. Images begin to flash in her head. A little girl... Shaved brown hair... Big brown doe eyes... In the rainbow room... wearing a hospital gown... A big grey door with the number “11” posted on it... Eleven, In the testing room... Wearing matching light grey sweatshirt and sweatpants... She’s sitting in a chair... wires on her head... Playing games in the rainbow room.
Jamie’s eyes are now filled with tears, one falls from her eye and rolls down her cheek. She’s definitely experiencing some drug withdrawal. Her emotions and access to her memories, both getting stronger. A new emotion begins to set in. Fear. They know who she is and where she came from. She holds her wrist and looks at her tattoo. She was looking at it. She slowly turns around, “Eleven?” asks Jamie, practically whispering.
“Yeah” says Dustin.
“How do you know Eleven?” asks Jamie.
“It’s a long, really long story, but... she’s, our friend. Look Max, I get that you want answers, but I’m sorry, I’m just, not getting Vecna vibes from her. She genuinely seems clueless” says Dustin.
“Hold on a minute. You guys think she’s Vecna?” asks Eddie “No way. No way in hell.”
“She’s a number, like Eleven” says Max. Eddie shakes his head at her, not knowing what that means. “The girl with superpowers” says Max.
“Oh...” says Eddie, he looks over at Jamie. The tattoo. Nine. His face grows a look fear as he comes to the realization.
“And the timing, and the fact that she ended up here with you. Is a little too suspicious, okay? So, excuse me, for trying to call it like it is” says Max.
“Or... its fate. We were meant to find each other, and defeat Vecna, together” says Dustin “So, please... don’t go. I think we all just need to talk and clear the air.”
“Why do you guys just assume I’m the bad guy?” asks Jamie. That hit home with Eddie, knowing all too well how that feels.
“I guess we’ve just been duped one too many times and we’re getting ahead of ourselves. We didn’t mean anything by it” says Dustin.
 ...
“Hey, can you hear me? Dustin?” It’s the walkie, Robin’s voice.
“Yeah, what’s up?” says Dustin, into the walkie.
“We have a lead. We need to meet and brainstorm pronto, Mike’s basement” says Robin.
“Uh, we may need to spend just a little more time here. There’s been some... developments” says Dustin into the walkie, as he looks at Jamie.
“What do you mean? Is everything okay?” asks Robin.
“Yes, we just- I’ll explain later” says Dustin.
Steve voice comes through the walkie “Unless it’s absolutely urgent, Henderson, we really need you with us, okay? We need your weird little genius brain to make sure any plan we come up with goes off without a hitch.”
Dustin sighs “One sec,” he says into the walkie “They must have found something really important. Would you... would you wanna come with us?” he asks Jamie. Jamie sees Max’s roll her eyes, clearly not okay with the suggestion. It’s not like Jamie can go anyways, she is still an escapee.
“There’s probably people looking for me... I shouldn’t” says Jamie.
“Eddie, are you okay if she stays?” asks Dustin.
“Do I really have a choice?” asks Eddie. Ouch, that kind of hurt, Jamie crosses her arms and looks down.
Max walks up to Eddie “Look, if you trust her, then you trust her. But... I would keep one eye open if I were you.”
“Where is Eleven?” asks Jamie “I... can I see her?”
“She... actually lives in California now, with our friend Will” says Dustin.
“Oh...” says Jamie, a bit disappointed.
“We’ve been trying to get ahold of them. Her mom, Joyce, works a job from home where she’s on the phone a lot, so the lines been busy but, we’re trying” says Dustin.
“Her mom?” asks Jamie.
“Not her birth mom. She’s Will’s mom and, they’re technically family now? We’re all, kind of family now” says Dustin “...You guys should probably go back to the boathouse, it’s a little safer than in here. Eddie, you have your walkie, if you need us...” Dustin opens the front door, and then stops to look back at Jamie “You do still have your powers, right?”
Everyone turns to look at her. Jamie nervously looks down at her feet, then back up “Yes” she replies quietly.
“Okay so, you guys stay here and brainstorm. Eddie, fill her in on everything. We’ll meet back here as soon as we can” says Dustin.
Jamie nods. Eddie still a bit stunned at all the new information, just mutters “Yeah, okay.”
Dustin speaks into the walkie “Robin, are you guys on your way to get us?”
“Yes sir, pulling up in t-minus 20 seconds” replies Robin.
“Copy that” says Dustin “Okay, let’s go” Dustin says to Max.
Max gives Jamie one last look before closing the door behind her. Dustin and Max now on the on the other side. They see Steve’s car and start walking towards it. As they’re walking, Max looks to Dustin “If we come back and he’s hurt, or worse, dead, I’d just like to say right now, that I told you so” says Max.
Dustin stops walking, he looks back at the house, then back at Max, who keeps walking ahead of him. He really hopes he’s right about his instincts. Steve’s car pulls up and parks. Dustin jogs up to it, he and Max get inside.
 ...
On the inside of the house, Eddie quickly locks the door.
He looks to Jamie “So... superpowers” says Eddie.
“Your friends, suck” says Jamie.
“I seriously didn’t know they were gonna grill you like that, I’m sorry. That whole conversation, I was confused for most of it. I’m the newest, very new, member of their little secret dimension club.”
“...Let’s just, go to the boathouse. Before they come back and burn me at the stake” Not that she would. She physically can’t, but still an appropriate metaphor for the situation.
Eddie begins walking towards the backdoor, he gestures for Jamie to walk in front of him. They go through the backdoor and head to the boathouse.

Chapter 3 – So, There’s This Girl...
Eddie eats as Jamie looks around the room. “Found it!” says Jamie. She brings it to the kitchen table and opens it. She’s standing over the table, flipping through the pages. She finds the section she was looking for. Her index finger slides down the page, searching. She flips to the next page. She does this with the next couple of pages “Dammit” she says, closing the book.
“What?” asks Eddie.
Jamie sits back down in her chair “She’s not in there.”
“Who?”
Jamie glares at him.
“You know what, I’ll stop asking questions” Eddie takes a swig of his beer.
Jamie’s biting her fingernail, considering opening up a bit to Eddie “My sister... my twin, actually.”
Eddie looks to her.
“She probably moved as far away from me as possible” says Jamie.
“Well, what’s her name? Maybe I can try and find her.”
“No just, forget it.”
“Oh, come on, we’re on a fake first name basis” says Eddie as he takes the last bite of his SpaghettiOs.
She looks to him with a smile “What about a map?”
“Map, right” Eddie stands up and starts to look. He walks into another room, coming out a few moments later “Here we are milady” Eddie opens it up and puts it on the table “Okay so... we’re here” he points his finger on the map to their location “And you were, here” he puts his finger on Pennhurst Mental Hospital. She grows an annoyed look on her face and rolls her eye at him. She continues to look at the map and notices a landmark, she puts her finger over it. Hawkin’s Lab.
“That’s Hawkins Lab” says Eddie “They do Military Research there, or used to, but I guess something went wrong like, six months ago? And it’s been abandoned ever since.”
Images begin to flash in Jamie’s mind again. Fire... She’s screaming... there’s a device with wires on her head... Blood coming from both her nostrils... There are two figures... One of them, on fire. More screaming... Alarms going off. Suddenly, no more screaming... Just the sound of crackling fire... The smell of flesh... burning. Then... darkness.
...
“Are you okay?” asks Eddie.
“Yeah... I’m just, tired” she says rubbing her hands on her face.
“Well, there’s a bed, or a couch.”
“The couch belongs to that spider now.”
Eddie chuckles “I can’t promise the bed will be much better.”
“I’ll risk it” Jamie stands up and begins to walk towards the stairs. She reaches the top of the stairs and turns around, looking down at him “You’ll wake me.. if someone’s here?”
“Absolutely, go get some sleep” says Eddie.
“You seem awfully eager for me to go to sleep. You triple swear, no cops?”
“I promise.”
She awkwardly taps the handrail with her palm, then walks to the bedroom. She slowly closes the door behind her, leaving it cracked open.
Eddie sighs. He walks over to the couch; quickly inspecting it for a spider before sitting.
...
Eddie decides not to try and call them on the walkie, not yet. He needs to figure out what he would even say to them, and to Jamie. He tries to occupy his boredom by throwing crumpled up pieces of phone book paper from where he’s sitting on the couch into a tiny basket on the floor.
He hears what sounds like a car pulling up to the house. Panicking, he runs over to the window and crouches down. He sees that it’s Steve’s car. Steve, Dustin, Robin, and Max get out of the car, carrying what looks like groceries. “Shit” he promised Jamie he wouldn’t tell anyone she was here. But on one hand, she did escape from a mental hospital. And on the other hand, literally everything else that's happened the past 48 hours. Okay, he’ll just talk to them first about his situation and go from there. But not in the house. He runs to the back door, and goes outside to meet them, as they head towards the boathouse.
“Eddie, hey!” says Dustin.
“Hey!” says Eddie.
“What were you doing in the house?” asks Dustin.
They all walk inside the boat house “Oh, I was just looking for more food. Perfect timing” says Eddie.
...
Once they’re inside, Steve leans against a wooden beam on the right, Robin leans on the left wall. Max sits down on a stool to the left side of the boat.
Eddie notices a pack of Yoo-hoo and takes one. He climbs inside the boat and sits down.
“Honeycombs?” asks Dustin holding up the cereal box to Eddie.
“No thanks, just ate” says Eddie.
“I thought you just said you were looking for food?” asks Robin.
“Oh, yeah. Sorry, my brain is all over the place, obviously” he reaches out his hand to Dustin and takes the box of cereal. He opens it, taking a handful in his mouth.
Dustin sits down on a stool, on the right side of the boat.
“So, we got, uh, some good news and some bad news” says Dustin “How do you prefer it?”
“Bad news first, always” says Eddie with a mouthful of Honeycombs. He takes a sip of Yoo-hoo.
“All right. Bad news” says Dustin “We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro, and they’re definitely looking for you... Also, they’re, uh, pretty convinced you killed Chrissy.”
“Like, 100% kind of convinced” says Max.
“And the good news?” asks Eddie.
“Your name hasn’t gone public yet” says Robin “But if we found out about you, it’s a matter of time before others do too and once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you.”
“Hunt the freak, right?” asks Eddie.
“Exactly” says Robin.
“Shit” says Eddie.
“So, before that happens, we need to find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence” says Dustin.
“That’s all, Dustin? That’s all?” asks Eddie sarcastically.
“Yeah, no, that’s pretty much it” replies Dustin.
“Listen, Eddie, I know everything Dustin is saying sounds totally delusional, but we’ve actually been through this kind of thing before” says Robin “I mean, they have a... a few times, and... and I have once. Mine was more human-flesh-based, theirs was more smoke-related, but bottom line is, collectively, I really feel like we got this.”
“Yeah, see, we usually rely on this girl who has superpowers” says Steve “But, uh, those went bye-bye, so uh.”
“So, we’re technically in more of the—” says Robin.
“Brainstorming phase” says Max.
“Brainstorming” says Steve, snapping his fingers.
“There... There’s nothing to worry about” says Dustin.
Steve nervously laughs, nodding his head in agreement. Eddie looks at them dumbfounded. Are these guys serious?
...
“Well, since everyone is just brimming with confidence, maybe a little too much... and everyone here seems to be okay with lying to their parents, cops, and so forth... I feel like I should tell you guys something... but I really need to know I can trust you with this” says Eddie.
“Eddie, of course you can trust us. I think we've proven that by now” says Dustin.
Here goes nothing. “So... there’s this girl... in there” Eddie tilts his head towards the house.
They react, all at the same time:
Max: “Excuse me?”
Robin: “Pardon?”
Steve: “Gross dude, right now?”
Dustin: “Say again?”
“It’s not like that!” says Eddie
“You said she’s where?” asks Max.
“In the house” says Eddie.
Everyone starts groaning, trying to process the information, Steve throwing both his hands to his head.
“Is she alive?” asks Max.
“Jesus, of course she’s alive! She just showed up out of nowhere. Well, not nowhere, but she doesn’t know who I am, and I don’t think she knows anything about what's going on.”
“Is she a friend of Reefer Rick’s?” asks Dustin.
“No, she- Look I think you guys might be able to help her, I don’t know. You’re helping me and my whole fucked up situation. I told her I wouldn’t tell anyone she was here, but I don’t know what to do man, all of this is just too much.”
“Okay” starts Dustin “Okay, we are flexible people if anything, helpful. So, let’s maybe... see what we can do.”
“Excuse me, what if once your name goes public, she goes blabbing to the cops? Oh yeah, I saw that guy, he’s just there yonder” says Robin.
“Yonder?” asks Steve.
“I don’t think she would. She’s kind of in a similar situation. It’s hard to tell, she’s a bit... abrasive” says Eddie.
“When does the drama stop, honestly?” asks Steve.
“I should talk to her” says Dustin.
“Why you?” asks Max.
“Because I’m the most personable. And look at this smile! She won’t be intimidated.”
“Fine, but I’m going with you, obviously” says Eddie.
“Woah, woah, woah, pause! Everyone, can we just think a little more here before we act. What are you even going to say to her?” asks Robin.
“If Eddie isn’t concerned about her running off to the cops, then we need to try. He said she needs help” says Dustin.
Suddenly, the sound of police sirens. Everyone freezes.
“Oh, she totally ratted you out!” says Steve.
“Tarp!” says Robin “Tarp! Tarp!”
Eddie quickly hides under the tarp. The rest of the group runs to the window. They watch as cop cars and an ambulance fly by the house and toward the trailer park.
“They’re not stopping here” says Max “Looks like they’re headed to the trailer park.”
Eddie slowly gets out from under the tarp. His heart racing, his life flashed before his eyes, thinking this was it.
“I wonder what’s going on” says Robin.
“Only one way to find out” says Steve.
“Should we split up? asks Robin.
“I’ll stay” says Max “Maybe having a girl there while you talk to her will help. How... old is she?”
“I don’t know. Our age?” says Eddie, gesturing go himself, Robin, and Steve.
“Is everyone cool with splitting up?” asks Dustin.
There’s a mutter of “Yeah’s” and head nodding.
“Okay, let’s do it” says Dustin “Everyone, as always, keep your walkies close.”

The Queen of Fire Meets the King of Hellfire: CH 2 - The Tattoo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ST4 but with Jamie (Nine/009). I used the comic book (Into the Fire) as a rough starting point. Jamie possesses Pyrokinesis (the ability to create/control fire). Starts off when Eddie’s already fled to Reefer Rick’s.
Snippet:
“What’s Hellfire?” she asks before eating the spoonful.
“Oh, uh” he looks at his shirt “It’s a club I run.”
“Mm, what kind of club?”
“It’s uh, a club where we meet and...” he’s starts drumming his fingers on the table.
Jamie squints her eyes at him and leans forward “and?”

Chapter 2 – The Tattoo
“I’m- I’m not crazy. Just, so you know” says the girl.
Eddie shrugs then stirs the pasta “...No judgments here”, even though he’s judging a little.
“I’m not, really. It’s a long story, why I ended up there. I’d rather not get into it right now, but just know, I’m... normal- well not totally normal, but I’m not...” she finds herself stuck, not knowing how to explain.
“Not crazy, got it” Eddie continues to stir “You know I’m bit of a freak myself, so as I said, you are not gonna get any judgement from me.”
“Please, how are you a freak? Aside from being a drug dealer on the run.”
“I’d rather not get into it right now” says Eddie, mocking her earlier statement, and still trying to lighten the mood a little.
“Fair enough” she picks up the glass, walks over to the sink, and fills it with tap water.
...
“Can I at least get a name? Even a fake name?” asks Eddie.
“Jamie” she leans against the counter and takes a sip of water.
“That real or fake?” asks Eddie.
“Guess you’ll never know.”
Eddie smiles to himself.
“And yours?” asks Jamie.
“Eddie.” Shit, should he have told her his real name? Why did he just blurt it out like that? I guess for some reason, on some level, he felt like he could trust her. Well, it’s too late now.
Jamie can see he looks a big panicked after telling her “Hey, we agreed no cops, so... it’s nice to meet you, Eddie.”
He relaxes a little “Likewise.”
 - - -
They’re now sitting in dingy chairs, at a small cheap dining table. They each have a bowl full of pasta and a spoon. Jamie with a water, Eddie with a beer. Much more formal dining than he would have done had he been alone.
Jamie takes a spoonful into her mouth “Careful it’s hot!” says Eddie.
Jamie stops and looks at him “I have a high tolerance for heat” she says with a mouth full of SpaghettiOs. She scoops another spoonful, thick steam dancing off the top.
“And we play a fantasy board game with these made-up characters. It’s seen as really nerdy or satanic or both. It’s actually one of the reasons I’m considered a freak” Eddie confidently eats a spoonful of SpaghettiOs and quickly spits half of it out “Shit, that’s hot! How are you eating that?!”
Jamie tries to refrain from smiling as she scoops another spoonful from her bowl. Eddie takes a swig from his beer, attempting to cool down his mouth.
“How is playing a board game satanic?” asks Jamie.
“Well, some of the characters can be a bit, dark and evil, but there’s hero’s and good guys too. It's all propaganda bull shit.”
She picks up her glass of water “Propaganda bull shit. I'm intrigued” and takes a sip.
While doing this, Eddie notices a little black tattoo on her wrist “009”.
“They stamp you guys over there or something?” asks Eddie.
Jamie sets her water down and gives him a confused look “What?”
“The number on your wrist. Nine?”
She quickly looks to her wrist then pulls it toward her and under the table. She looks at her not yet empty bowl “I’m... done eating” she picks it up with her other hand, gets up from the table, and takes it to the sink.
...
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry” Eddie says holding his hands up “I also have tattoos. So, I think it’s cool you have one.”
Jamie leans against the counter and crosses her arms “It’s anything but cool..."
“Okay...” Eddie says quietly to himself. He decides to give up on the conversation. This girl is seriously rough around the edges. He plays with the spoon in the SpaghettiOs.
...
“Do you... have any clothes I could borrow?” asks Jamie.
“Sure, there might be something you can wear. Might be a little big” says Eddie. Reefer Rick must have something she can wear around here somewhere.
“That’s okay, I don’t mind” says Jamie, motioning to her current outfit.
Eddie gets up out of his chair.
“Wh- I didn’t mean right now, you can finish eating” says Jamie.
Eddie waves his hand dismissively “It’s fine, I’ll just go find something really quick. It’d probably be in the bedroom, upstairs.”
Eddie goes up the stairs and into the bedroom. Jamie looks down at her tattoo, brushing her thumb over it. Memories begin to flood her mind. She’s at Hawkin’s Lab... There’s fire... Screaming. She squeezes her eyes shut, trying to avoid the memories.
The sound of Eddie’s footsteps coming down the stairs pulls her out of her memories. Eddie walks up to her, holding a black shirt and black sweatpants.
“You mentioned Metallica earlier so,” he does one quick shake of the shirt and holds it up to show her. It’s a Metallica T-shirt.
“I don’t really know them that well... They don’t let us listen to that kinda stuff. They think it promotes bad behavior” says Jamie.
Eddie scoffs “It does no such thing. Well, I’m not a great example, but overall, it’s still music, ya know? Sure, it can be intense but” Eddie hands her the clothes “Wait, if you’re not allowed then how do you know them?”
“People sneak stuff in... I saw them in a magazine. And one time, a visitor snuck in a Walkman for his cousin. It had a Metallica song. I only got to listen to it once before it got confiscated” says Jamie.
“One time’s all it takes! Which song?” asks Eddie.
“Uh... Master of Puppets, I think?”
“Ah! A masterpiece!” he says with a smile.
“I... wasn’t sure what to think. I’d never heard anything like it before.”
“You should have found a better hiding spot! Could have listened to it over and over.”
“Well, I wasn’t the one who was in charge of it, it’s not my fault.”
“Fair enough. But you gotta listen to more! I have tons of their tapes and albums. Well not here, but... you know maybe sometime” Eddie starts to feel like he’s totally geeking out in front of her and starts to become a little embarrassed.
“Yeah, I mean... maybe when we’re not on the run... sometime, sure” she says softly. She shyly looks down at the clothes in her hands, forgetting they were there “I’m gonna... go change” she walks up the stairs and into the bedroom, she closes the door behind her.
...
Eddie goes back to the table and sits down. He scoops a spoonful of SpaghettiOs and begins to sing to himself “Come crawling fasteerr” he takes the spoon into his mouth and continues “Obey your masteerr.” Music reminds him. The walkie. Holy shit. He gets up and runs over to the walkie on the counter. He should contact the gang for an update. Maybe some more beer, definitely some food. But most of all, Jamie. He can’t call them here, can he? Maybe they can help her somehow? But what if she totally flips her shit? Okay, maybe he doesn’t call for now. Hopefully, they just don’t show up-
He hears the bedroom door open. He sets the walkie back down and runs back over to his chair, sitting. Jamie comes down the stairs. She’s now wearing an oversized Metallica shirt and sweatpants, also a little oversized, but at least they’re not falling off. She and begins searching around the room.
“Looking for something?” asks Eddie.
“I don’t know, maybe a phone book, or a map?”
“I think there’s both of those around here somewhere, but why would you need a phone book, you plan on calling someone?”
“I don’t know, maybe. I’ll have to see if I can find them first. They probably don’t even live in Hawkins anymore.”
“Who?” asks Eddie.
Jamie opens her mouth to speak then closes it “Let’s just, find the phone book first and then go from there.”
Eddie starts to get up “No, actually, I’ll look, you eat” says Jamie. She’s thankful how willing he is to help her, it’s kind of sweet, actually. She takes another glance around “Seriously, this place is disgusting.”

The Queen of Fire Meets the King of Hellfire CH 1: Damned Spiders
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ST4 but with Jamie (Nine/009). I used the comic book (Into the Fire) as a rough starting point. Jamie possesses Pyrokinesis (the ability to create/control fire). Starts off when Eddie’s already fled to Reefer Rick’s.
Snippet: She looks back in the direction she came from, then starts to run again in the opposite direction. As she’s running, the back of her shirt reads in big black letters, Pennhurst Mental Hospital.
 Chapter 1 – Damned Spiders
There’s a figure flashing past thick trees in the forest. The sound of snapping twigs and crunching leaves on the ground, as it goes by. It’s breathing heavy. It slows down, coming to a stop. There’s a person hunched over, hands on their knees, trying to catch their breath. They have long brown hair flowing down as their head hangs. They’re wearing a pair of white slip-on shoes and a matching set of light blue scrubs. They lift their face, it’s a girl. She has a lightly freckled face and blue eyes, filled with fear and exhaustion. She looks back in the direction she came from, then starts to run again, in the opposite direction. As she’s running, the back of her shirt reads in big black letters, Pennhurst Mental Hospital.
The girl spots a house next to a lake in the woods. As she approaches, it’s quiet, not a soul in sight. She cautiously walks up to one of the front windows, peeking in. The place is a mess, looking deserted. She tries lifting the window, but it’s locked. She goes to the front door and tries opening it. Locked. She goes to the back of the house and attempts to open the backdoor, also locked. Why would someone care so much about keeping a dump like this locked up? Frustrated, she tries one of the back windows, and thankfully, it’s unlocked. She lifts it up slowly, it will only open up halfway. It’s a tight fit, but she can make it. She crawls in, head and hands first, then pulls her feet in. She plops to the floor on her side. She stands up and closes the window back.
She turns around and notices she’s in a kitchen. She moves forward slowly, still not sure if someone could be in the house. She’s extremely thirsty, quickly walking over to the kitchen sink and turning on the faucet. She sticks her head under, gulping the tap water. Suddenly, she hears a thump. Fuck. Was that in the house? Was it outside? Maybe it was an animal, she was out in the woods. She looks over and notices a knife set holder on the counter. She walks over and pulls the biggest knife out of the set. She slowly walks down the hallway, looking in each room as she passes. All of them in disarray, but still, no one in sight. She walks back in the other direction. As she passes the couch, she hears the front door being unlocked. She quickly ducks in front of the couch as she hears the front door swing open and quickly shut. She hears the door get locked from the inside. Listening to their footsteps, she can tell they’re coming in her direction. She crawls around, avoiding the persons sight, now hiding behind the back of the couch.
A few moments later, she hears clattering: the opening and closing of drawers and cabinets. A male voice speaks “Yeah, you’ll do.”
She slowly creeps her head around the side of the couch, just enough for one eye to see in that direction. She first notices a dark brown, almost black, fluffy head of hair. She then sees the strangers face.
As we know, this is Eddie Munson.
She watches as him put a pot on the stove. As he goes to find a can opener, he glimpses at the knife set. He notices the big one is missing. The girl goes back to her original position behind the couch. Oh god, does he notice it’s missing? She needs to get the hell out of there before he sees her, but she can’t move now. She’ll have to wait until he leaves the room.
Eddie starts to half panic, trying to rationalize. Was that always missing? Did I take it out when I got here? But he’d been in there earlier, rummaging for beer and food. He could have sworn it was there. Why didn’t he grab a knife earlier? Okay- his paranoia is getting the better of him and now his thoughts are just rambling. He decides to drop it and continue to prepare his food, he’s starving.
Hearing him go back to cooking, she peers her head around again. This time, there’s an enormous spider, right next to her face. She lets out a squealish scream and quickly shuffles back behind the couch.
“Shit!” the can drops from Eddie’s hand and onto the floor. He backs up into the counter. Does he run? Does he investigate? Who the hell would be here?!
“Who‘s there?” Eddie asks sternly.
No answer. He slowly begins to walk toward the couch. He pauses, let’s not make the same mistake twice. He walks to the knife set, pulling out the second biggest knife.
The girl hears the sliding of the knife out of the holder. She squeezes her eyes in frustration. This is gonna get ugly. She does not want to fight anyone, but she is not going back to that hell hole. As she hears the footsteps get closer, she decides sitting on the ground isn’t the best fighting position. She leaps out from behind the couch holding out the knife defensively. Eddie jumps standing across from her, but then quickly mirrors her stance with his knife.
“Jesus! Who are you?!” asks Eddie.
“Who are you?!” asks the girl.
“I asked you first!”
“I- have the bigger knife!”
“So?!”
“So! I’m asking the questions! Are you the only one here?” asks the girl.
Eddie struggles to answer. What the hell is going on?
“Are you?!” asks the girl.
“Yes!”
“Is there anyone else coming?”
“No! Look, you don’t need the knife! I’m a chill guy. Just, relax” says Eddie.
“You can’t tell anyone I was here. I’ll leave, but you can’t tell anyone.”
Eddie begins to panic. Leave? No, she can’t leave. What if she tells someone she saw him here? He’d have to find another place to hide, or worse, he’ll be caught and arrested.
Thankfully, an idea pops into his head.
...
“Hey, can I be totally honest with you?” asks Eddie.
She shakes her head and knife at him for him to get on with what he’s saying.
He lowers his voice to a whisper “I’m also hiding from the cops. So, believe you me, I will not be calling anyone.”
“Why would you be hiding?” asks the girl.
“... Drugs. I’m a drug dealer. Cops already got my buddy and now they’re looking for me.”
...
She stares at him intensely, trying to figure out if she believes him or not “If you’re lying-“
“I’m not. Cross my heart. I mean, do I look like a stand-up citizen?”
She looks him up and down. She shrugs her shoulders “Maybe a member of that… Metallica? group.”
Eddie scoffs “You flatter me.” Thank God, she has no idea who he is.
She slowly lowers the knife “So... who’s house is this?”
“Friend of a friends.”
She looks side to side “It’s kind of a dump.”
“No, yeah, it’s a piece of shit.”
“Spider,” she points back to the couch with the knife “There was a spider, that’s why I freaked out.”
“Ugh, spawns of Satan…” He’s trying to lighten the tension, and she can tell he’s trying to, but there’s no way she’s letting her guard down.
“Now, am I allowed to ask about,” he gestures to her person in general “This whole situation?”
“I’d prefer if you didn’t.”
“We’ll that doesn’t seem very fair. I shared my demons. I mean what even are those? Scrubs? You run away from your job as a dentists assistant?”
“Look, I just need a place to lay low for a while. I’m tired. I’m hungry...”
“Hey, Me casa es su casa... wait, did I say that right?”
“Yes, you did… do you… have any food?” asks the girl.
“I was just about to eat myself, but… there’s not much. Haven’t had a chance to go to the store” he says with a slight smile.
“Well, what do you have?”
“I was just about to make SpaghettiOs. Hawkins finest.”
“...Works for me.”
Eddie goes back toward the kitchen. She follows him, keeping a distance. Eddie sets down his knife on the counter. He picks up the can from the floor and continues to open it “You okay with splitting it?” he asks.
“...Yes" she says.
Eddie can tell she’s still nervous, as she fiddles with the knife.
“You don’t need the knife ya know. Just a couple of strangers eating SpaghettiOs in an abandoned house” says Eddie.
“Was that supposed to be reassuring?” she asks.
“Yeah, that may of... come off a little creepy. Apologies.”
He lights up the fire on the stove and dumps the cans contents into the pot. He looks at the somewhat dried blood coming from of her nose. She also has a cut and slight bruise on her left cheekbone. He walks and grabs a rag on the counter and hands it to her. "You might wanna..." he motions wiping the rag over his face.
It takes a second before her demeanor becomes a bit timorous. She reaches to take the rag with one hand, then notices she still holding a knife in the other. She slowly holds the handle side of the knife out to Eddie. He takes it, and she takes the rag. She puts it to her nose, dabbing the blood.
"I'd hate to see the other guy" says Eddie, attempting to lighten the mood.
She looks away. You really would, she thought. She puts the rag to her cheekbone and slightly grimaces as it stings. He goes back over to the pot on the stove.
“I’m gonna get some water. Are there... cups or something?" she asks, motioning to the cabinets.
"Should be, in that one I think" says Eddie, pointing to the cabinet on her right. She walks up to it and sets the rag down on the counter. She notices a walkie talkie sitting there “What’s this for?” she asks.
“Oh, uh....” think Munson. She may freak out if she knows you’re in contact with other people. “To listen to the cops. See if they’re talking about me. I’ll know if they’re coming and need to bolt.”
“Oh... didn’t know you could do that.”
“Yeah,” says Eddie, with an exasperated breath “It’s real handy” ...that was a close one.
She reaches up and opens the cabinet. As she’s grabbing a cup, Eddie sees the back of her shirt. In big black letters: 'Pennhurst Mental Hospital' .
While setting the glass down, she realizes he’s reading her shirt.
“Shit” she says, quickly turning her back away from him.
