Review: Shiratsuki Route

overall ratings:
plot 6/10
cg art 6/10
enjoyment 6/10
shiratsuki's route was the first i played and sadly to say, i was left disappointed. his route was not a bad one, just that it was more.. anti-climatic and lackluster than i would have hoped for it to be. the problems faced in his route were trivial and i felt like the romance was a little rushed- (dont @ me please this is my opinion and this is what i genuinely feel)
i wont lie, the entire reason i actually looked into dairoku was because of shiratsuki on the cover art. he caught my attention and i took an interest in the game. however, i really didnt like how different he looked in the game as compared to the cover art :"(
his CGs were decent, not good but not bad for me. i mentioned in the masterpost earlier that i am not a big fan of the CG in the game and sadly to say, shiratsuki's CGs were among those that i least liked among all 5 LIs.
shiratsuki spekas like an old man and i do enjoy that about him however, it makes him unique. for real he sounds like an oyaji xD i reslly like his voice actor so that is a bonus for me.
i don't dislike shiratsuki, in fact he's a very fun and cute character that i enjoy interacting with. however, truth to be told, i rather romance kokko than shiratsuki. i don't know, his route just doesn't feel so enjoyable to me compared to the reviews i have read before playing it.
his romance end was sweet, but nothing particularly special for me. his lost love end wasn't too bad, it really proved to you how different the situation would be based on the choices you made, give you the feeling of "if only shino phrased her words differently, this wouldn't have happened". the friendship end was alright as well, i preferred it over the romance end tbh.
his route just didn't feel special for me and i wanted to get done with it asap. it wasn't a bad route but i couldn't say it was a good one either. i did have fun seeing the little interactions with the side characters though, it was really wholesome.

overall thoughts:
it is not a bad game, just that it was not quite as enjoyable as a whole as i wanted it to be. there were certain parts where i was wuite bored of the storyline and wanted to zoom through it asap, but there were many cute moments as well.
i enjoy that shino gets along with all the ayakashi so we get interactions with many different characters. some scenes however felt a little dry.
the plot however is an interesting one, fairly organic. however i do think that people who are unfamiliar with many japanese words may struggle to understand some parts of the text.
the selling point of this game for me was the voice actors lineup. so many familiar names, even for side characters, i went crazy. toshiyuki toyonaga, takahiro sakurai, ishikawa kaito, toki shunichi, and much more, i was sold alright. i want give praise especially to toshi, who did an excellent job in conveying semi's character. he did a good job singing the ost as well, i am a huge fan of toshi and his works and he was actually the main reason why i got the game.
my biggest complaint unfortunately is regarding the CG. while i do understand that it is the artist's art style, i felt that it could've been done better for many of them. i love the character designs, even the side characters, but the CGs just didn't feel as wow and kya as compared to other otome games and i felt like they did not bring out the beauty of the original character designs.
let's talk a little about the female lead, akitsu shino.
for a mc, i love shino's character. she's not overly feisty, but she does have her haughty moments as well. and she is not a damsel in distress. our girl here has personality and she is strong.
i would say though, i am not particularly fond of the character design. in fact, i held back on buying this game initially because i was really put off by her character design. but she looks prettier the more i look at her so all works out fine for me. i wished they gave her a different hairstyle though.
as such..
i wouldn't all out recommend this game but if you are bored and need suggestions as you have played almost all the popular games out there, this game is a decent consideration. the story is light-hearted and funny, and all the characters are likeable. the gameplay duration is alright as well, normal for an otome game (40-50hours). i wouldn't recommend this to someone who is just starting to play otome games but it is not a bad game, thought i do think there are many parts that actually could be better.
