She watched her father die. Her heart was shattered that day, the little joyous seven year old having been torn apart viciously by a cruel world who cared only to protect itself. Her whole world was gone. And when she looks busy in her biology work, or zoning off staring at a wall, shes back in that old detective's office coloring on blank paper with the crayons he kept specifically for her on his desk. Shes back with the person who filled her life with light.

When she studies criminology, shes right back there. Shes in that chair, in his coat. It feels right.

Her mother warns her that pursuing the case would earn her the same end as her father. She brushes her off.

She followed her father's footsteps as her mind and sanity degraded, a little girl simply yearning for a father's embrace once again. He was her safe space, her light.

She wants to see justice for her long gone father. But as she sits in his chair, exhausted, she hasn't slept in days. She can imagine him here in this place.

And then she hears it

The click of a gun.

That is the second time a detective has died in this very office. And hopefully... the last.
