Spring Date with Caleb

First try at Fanfic, hope turns out well.

“2 weeks is way to long” you think as you scan the park entrance for him. A week long mission in the mountains overlapped with his fleet operations leaving us with only short calls and text messages. Today though he is back and you’re excited for the date you have planned.

Suddenly a smooth voice whispers in your ear, “Looking for someone in particular?”

”Caleb!!” you squeak as you do a turn jump in surprise. A second later you throw your arms around his center gaining a small chuckle from him as he returns the hug. Dressed in casual jeans, t-shirt, and jacket he matches perfect with your light spring dress.

”What’s on the agenda for the day pip-squeak?” he asks after a minute of enjoying your reunion.

”The weather is suppose to be nice and warm so wanted to walk around the park to see the tree blossoms and a picnic snack at the pond.” You answer picking up the basket you had set down earlier while waiting for him.

”Sounds great” He smiles while grabbing the basket from you. “Lead the way”

Taking his free hand you lead him towards the main walking path through the park. As the weather report predicted the day is sunny and warm. Unlike some of your shared haunts this park is one you never been to together and you excitedly point out all your favorite things you found the last time you visited. Caleb leisurely walks next to you with a smile on his face interlocking his fingers with yours to keep you close. It may have been a bit of a walk but you eventually find the pond you have been looking for. Though not too big the water is clear and the area is clear of people and mess. Setting up a blanket under a tree you have him sit near you while you serve both of you the snack you packed. While the conversation flows smoothly while you eat you start to see a wariness in his face.

”Caleb is everything ok?”

”Everything is just fine” He tries to deflect

”Stop, you promised you would not do that anymore. These say otherwise.” you refute lightly poking at the bags under his eyes. “I understand about not telling me everything top secret is secret but don’t lie about being ok when you clearly aren’t.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” He says softly while reaching one hand to cup your check lightly stroking it with his thumb. “I am just tired. There were delays and we got back later than expected. I didn’t want miss seeing you so only had time to shower and change before heading here.”

Leaning in to his hand on your check you place your hand over his. “Next time just tell me, I would have been just as happy curled up taking a nap next to you. In fact, here.” Moving away you sit with your back against the tree and pat your lap. “Now’s a perfect time for a nap.” When he just looks at you, you reach over to grab his arm pulling him down so his head is on your lap. A small blush starts to tinge his checks in ears as you slow start running your fingers through his hair.

“Close your eyes and rest. I have you for now.” Softly you hum an old slow song you use to enjoy when you were both young while continuing to run your fingers through his hair. It takes a bit but his breath starts to slow and his face softens as he sleeps. For while you just let him sleep there as you enjoy him being with you in this beautiful scene. If only these times could last longer but it is a beautiful day and the park is pretty popular. Even with getting an hour alone together soon you hear other people approaching and Caleb wakes to the sound.

“Feel a little better?” You smile down at him. The look he gives you in response makes your Heart skip a beat

“Much” he smiles, “Thank you.”

Sitting up he turns to look at his surroundings “Looks like our little paradise is getting busy.”

”Yeah, let’s continue on and get back home. Then we can order dinner in and watch a movie.” You suggest

”I like the sound of that” He says as he starts to clean things up. Once everything is in the basket he stands and helps you to your feet folding up the blanket and putting in the basket as well. Holding out his hand for you; interlocking your fingers once again you both head along the path again. As you get closer to the end of the path you come along a breath taking sight that takes in the majority of the park. Seeing a park bench to the side you pull him towards it and indicate to sit down. “Let’s just enjoy the view for a minute.” You suggest. Sitting on bench together the wind starts to pick up. He puts his jacket around you and snuggles you into his arms softly whispering “Can’t have you catching a cold, pip-squeak”

As you turn your face into his chest you enjoy the smell and feel that is uniquely Caleb. Though you know things can be rough its times like this that you are overjoyed that he is here and back with you once again.
