I made a confession a while back venting about my friend who keeps undressing my favorite girl whenever she comes over and just leaves her naked - and keeps doing it despite how many times I’ve asked her to stop.

WELL.

The other night, I sat on the floor of my studio, put on an Ab Fab marathon on my tv, got out my sewing kit and scrap fabrics, and made my girl a new outfit that is not only cute af (I might be biased), but is also SUPER tricky to get off of her unless you know the trick. So now my friend can’t try to undress her without screwing her up, which she knows will be bad news if she does, and hasn’t laid a finger on my girl since❤️

I love custom character dolls. I love when someone cares about a little fictional dude (or dudette) so much they gotta recreate them as a doll. I love seeing how they approach the sculpt, wig, outfit. I love seeing the photos. And I love the idea of having a 3D blorbo I give IRL headpats to.

I like official character dolls too, of course, but there’s just something about the necessity of effort for custom dolls that is very charming to me.

I'll be your friend, anon! I love BJDs, I love crafting, I love all doll related things, it's all I ever want to talk about! 💕

It seems one aspect of my real life also applies to my hobby/bjd life: the people who are constantly posting about ~positivity~ and proud of being ~chill, drama free, only good vibes allowed~ are actually the most dramatic, unchill, toxic people. IRL I have friends who are actually drama free good people and great to talk to. In the local bjd community, they're harder to find. Don't wanna spam my IRL friends not into the hobby with hobby talk, and I just want an actual level-headed, chill, unproblematic person to talk to about bjds. So far I've found none. Most of the people into the hobby I have talked to locally just want to talk about themselves, their dolls; are bitter that some people locally are able to afford more dolls and doll stuff than them, snooty, judgemental and demeaning to newbies in the hobby that are not as knowledgeable as the experienced members, proud of getting into debt for dolls/having multiple layaways at once, pressure you into buying their stuff because they need money (I don't give in to this), or pressure you to follow their pages/accounts/share their stuff on SNS. Like, most of the people in the local bjd scene are one of, combination of, or are all of the above! Especially the big-daddies/ uncle collectors. I just want someone to gush about the newly released dolls by some artists/companies or ask some tips for creating stuff without the conversation devolving into passive-aggressive remarks about learning how to google, or learning by experience, or wow-you're-so-lucky sarcastic remarks.

However I need your help to compile them, as I need new, up to date information and I don’t want to copy the DoA page for the first one. I’m cobbling together what I can so far.

BJD under $200 is for exactly as the title, with a subsection for $200-300.

Legit BJD links will be links to BJD shops, websites, Etsy pages, wherever those obscure legit links are, since they are well-hidden in search results. If you already have any of this kind of information handy you’re welcome to add that. Any information is useful, so if you only know 1 BJD under $200 you’re still welcome to submit that info! You can submit via reply or confession.
