Homophobic? If there is actual proof of Actual Homophobia then please send it to me since if she was homophobic then that is horrible. If you meant "Oh hey you can HC these characters as LGBT+ just don't make it the entire point of the movie" then that isn't homophobia, the movie is for Colombian people first and it's meant to represent THEIR culture.

So, one thing I've noticed is that a lot of people in Encanto's fandom like to Headcanon Bruno and Dolores as autistic or say that they are 'autistic coded' (when I think about the way they both acted in the movie I will admit that it would make some sense, especially in Dolores' case with her sensitive hearing)

I was just a little curious about how you, a native Colombian fan of the film and the characters, feel about those types of headcanons,,, if you're comfortable answering..

I like those headcanons as long as people don’t make cultural things justification to their headcanons, like some of them did with Bruno’s knock knock knock on wood, Dolores’s “squeaks” and Camilo snapping his fingers - all of these are Colombian things and people were saying that they do it because they have ticks and like no they do it because they are Colombian. So as long as the headcanon doesn’t erase the cultural aspects I think it’s totally okay

so first of all I think that those ships themselves are not disrespectful to my culture (even though because of the culture any of Encanto characters would never done something like this) it’s just weird and disgusting so being Latino doesn’t mean that shipping 15 year old Colombian boy with his Colombian uncle is okay and that it’s suddenly not disgusting when you are Latino. Being Latino doesn’t change the fact that it’s extremely weird and yeah as I said before just disgusting. So being a proshipper in Encanto fandom and being Latino is just as disgusting as being a gringo and being a proshipper in Encanto fandom. Being Latino is not a valid excuse for this
