was it really? because he definitely didn't know what was even happening in the moment.

rin itoshi who was stuck staring at you, oh how you held your hands out to him which were filled with simple and the cutest little koi he's ever seen.

his eyes' glance scattered everywhere, he didn't know where to look in the moment. he was starstruck just being in your presence. he didn't know what it was.

he caught himself looking at you more than just once like this.

—whether it'd be at the games he had, you were right there. jumping and cheering his name.

hopefully it was the times you went out for ice cream, as it got stuck on your cheek. it was up to him whether he'd wipe it off with his thumb, or lick it off.

no matter what kind of gossip it is, the drama he’s heard or you’ve heard. what drama you’re involved in, even drama that isn’t related to either of you guys — he’ll gossip about it with you.

“baby did you hear?” rin said to you.

“huh? what do you mean rinnie?” clearly confused. what could this guy — who barely starts a convo first, be talking about.

“okay you might need to sit down for this..” pulling you down to sit next to him on the couch.

“wait what?” panic settling in you, was he breaking up with you? is he tired of you? did you cross one of his boundaries. god, your mind was going crazy.

“you know how our neighbor was tryna get pregnant?”

with relief on your face, you responded with “yea.. we were literally over there like, the other day. we congratulated them rinnie. where are you going with this?”

“just be patient okay? so like — also don’t think about telling anyone.”

nodding quickly, “yes yes whatever rinnie, just tell me already!” clearly getting impatient.

“okay so.. the guy isn’t the father.”

looking at him wide eye — like a deer in headlights. “WHATT, where did you hear this, who told, is this some crazy theory.” speaking so quickly rin couldn’t understand you at all.

“baby calm down, please. i can’t understand anything you’re saying.”

“HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CALM DOWN?? you just dropped a bomb on me. rinnie. tell me right now, where did you get this info.”

“tch, the mother herself.”

“what. wait. are you being deadass with me.”

“yes. she couldn’t keep it anymore, and i was near so she just asked to rant about it.”

looking at him in shock. jaw dropped. “rinnie did she say you could say this to anyone else?”

he stayed silent. that said enough for you.

“RINNIE.”

“i know i know it’s wrong. but like. it’s also fucked for her to do that.” he retorted

staying silent for a bit, you finally speak. “yea.. that’s true. i know she was desperate but that doesn’t give her the right to cheat on him.”

that simple sentence lead to a rant. instead of rin talking about this even though he’s the one that had been told first hand.

the whole reason he even talks about drama is could it always leads to you rambling. he could careless about drama but he loves hearing you talk — looking at you with pure adoration in his eyes.

O4 LOVE COUNTDOWN — Rewind

meeting up with your ex wasn’t the best option, really. it’s late as hell, no one’s around parks this late as well, he might as be planning go kidnapping and/or murder you.

maybe you were still the desperate highschool girl. begging for closure again.

seeing that you arrived earlier than expected, you sat on swing, lightly swinging back and forth. should you text him? telling him to hurry up or just wait.

what if he doesn’t even show up? did he just wanna make you look like a fool again. maybe you’re still so stupid.

pushing those thoughts aside you go on your phone until scaramouche arrives.

hearing a voice say, “hey, i’m surprised you actually came.”

lifting your head away from your phone, you respond. “yea i know, im surprised. so what did you wanna say?”

"uh, how do i start this even. i'm sorry." scaramouche states with a nervous tone.

"that's all?" you replied in disbelief. he told you to meet up here, just to waste your time? giving you false hope?

"no no, of course not. that'd be shitty of me." he said in a panicking tone. "shit, 'm tryna find the right words right now."

you looking at him with little to no remorse in your eyes, he can't help but feel attacked under your gaze."

"i know i was a bitchy boyfriend, i know i wasn't the best to you before or during our relationship. i should've been better to you in highschool, i'm sorry. this is such a shitty apology you deserve a better one. i can't really find the right words, sorry."

"yea i understand why it'd be hard for you to give a good apology right now, but why do you keep saying i deserve better? you realize that during highschool, but you still didn't change? what's the point if you're words are empty, scaramouche?" you retorted to his apology.

looking at you in shock, he doesn't know what to say. why didn't he change? why did he keep leaving you in the dust? why did he treat you the way he did. not even he knows.

"i don't know why i couldn't treat you better and i'm sorry for it. but can we start over, please?" his voice almost breaking

after hearing his voice you can't help but feel a tinge of guilt, even if he's done you badly, you can still feel empathy for him. "i don't think we can. i can't go through that again." you replied, blinking away the tears that are forming.

"you won't thought. i promise i'll treat you right. we don't have to be in a relationship, we can take it slow. just please, let me be yours again." you can't believe it the scaramouche, no kunikuzushi, begging?

you're taken back at this not knowing what to do. weighing the pros and cons of each decision.

"i don't think i could make a decision right now. it's a lot to take in right now."

"i understand, we don't have to be official or anything. can we just talk again, like friends?" he knows he sounds desperate but, who knows when he'll get a chance like this again.

"oh uhm i guess? just know it'll be hard for me to let you in again."

his lips curl up barely to a light smirk, "i know i understand. thank you for at least accepting to talk again."

"yea."

an awkward silence follows after that, staring at your feet not knowing what else to say. looking at your phone again, you realize it's extremely late.

"hey uh, i think imma head home now. it was nice to talk again with you scaramouche." you state breaking the silence between both of you guys.

"let me walk you home?" he suggested, but the tone makes it seem like he's demanding.

"no no its okay." you dismissed him, basically running off before he could say another word.

looking at your back as you run away, he can't help but feel a little bit sad. the use of his stage name, not meeting his eyes, your actions in general. you really have pushed him away. and he can't blame anyone but himself.

O2 LOVE COUNTDOWN — No.1 Party Anthem

“EEEE WE’RE FINALLY HERE!” yoimiya squeals in excitement. seeing the gorgeous lights, everyone’s cheerful face. this was going to be a good night. not even your ex could ruin it.

“I KNOW RIGHT, i’ve been dying for a break from uni bro.” lumine states

“don’t even talk about uni here. this is a stress free zone!!” you state with a sad smile.

“yea yea whatever guys! let’s just enjoy this break for a while. no negative energy!!” hu tao demands, and ayaka nodding in agreement

“albedo your awfully quiet. c’mon enjoy yourself! it’s one of the very few time your away from your weird experiments.” ayaka tells him.

“i’ll try.”

“OH MY GODDD ITS STARTING GUYS!” hu tao exclaims.

the members entering on the stage, each member shone in the spotlight. first, venti, then aether, xiao, kazuha, heizou and lastly scaramouche. the concert begins. it starts off as any other concert.

the band performing their current album. voices singing beautifully. everything’s good! no resentment, sadness, or emotions alike when you see scaramouche.

just you and your friends enjoying yourselves.

“C’MON Y/N LOOK MORE ALIVE! SCREAM THE LYIRICS WITH ME!!” hu tao screams at you. you can barely hear her, but you can still make out some words.

“WE DON’T KNOW THE LYRICS THO?”

“DOESN’T MATTER!!”

“IF YOU SAY SO!”

screaming nonsense with hu tao, genuine smiles between the whole friend group. hell even albedo is smiling, even if it’s barely noticeable.

the band finish their album’s discography. then venti tells in to the mic for the audience, “this is going to be a special concert! our amazing guitarist, scaramouche will be singing a solo today! hope you guys enjoy this, he spent a lot of time and thought into this song.”

the crowd erupting in to cheers, chanting his name, and other members retreating to the back so he could be in the spotlight.

it’s an amazing song honestly, not even you could hate on it. until he looks directly at you while singing a lyric.

“the look of love, the rush of blood. the she’s with me’s, the gallic shrug”

was he hinting at something? you’ve always admired him, anyone who looked in you guys’s direction could see the love and admiration in your eyes.

you wondered during the relationship if it was ever one sided. he never cared for you in public or private. always pushing you away, no matter what you couldn’t get close enough to him. to his feelings.

there’s no use of if’s now, what’s the point of wondering about the past when you’ve got friends who’d be there for you, open about their feelings, treat you like someone, they’re just everything you need.

lumine’s looking at you concerningly, giving you the “you okay? you need some time alone?” look. shaking your head no, with a content smile on your face.

scaramouche is still looking at you. he has been since the beginning since his solo, the concert, in highschool, all the time. in his eyes you were everything. you were too good to be true. something made up from his imagination.

someone who’d been with him, okay with his flaws, didn’t change him and just accepted him as who he is a whole.

making eye contact with him after years. you can say it’s cheesy like a stupid romcom. they say eyes don’t lie, you might just believe that now. that look in his eyes, it was just like yours in highschool, full of love.

thinking to yourself “maybe i do need some time alone. how ironic, literally said you wouldn’t let a random ex ruin this night for you.”

tapping lumine on her shoulder, her turning around, “hey lumine im gonna go take a breath of fresh air real quick.”

“okay y/n, take all the time you need, and stay safe.”

giving her a smile you stepped out for a bit of fresh air. you didn’t even realize you couldn’t breathe when he was looking at you. it was suffocating. he still has that same hold on you even years later.

will you ever escape scaramocuhe, or you should say kunikuzushi. maybe one day you will. who knows, only time will tell.

seeing you at the concert wasn’t what scaramouche was expecting. and he didn’t realize how much he’s misses you until now.

missing your smile, your hugs, your stupid conversations, your care. everything about you. how should he feel right now? sad, happy, longing? who knows. all he knows is that he misses you dearly.

seeing you happy with your friends, he can’t deny he’s glad. you aren’t crying and grieving over someone like him. your cheery self made him feel better. you gave his monochrome world color.

hearing venti’s announcement of his time of singing his solo, he was scared. he wasn’t planning to be singing something he made in thought of you. and you watching him too, he was a little more than nervous.

the lyrics were about you and your actions.

“the look of love”, you’re admiration for him. always there for him, caring for him. you’re love never faltering even after he’d push you away constantly.

“the rush of blood”, you’re gorgeous face decorated with a pink hue when he’s around and you’re energy. you were always full of life, giving him a reason to do anything. and you’re blushing and giggly face every time you guys made eye contact.

“the she’s with me’s”, picking him over anyone. anyone could’ve been a better company then him. he was always quiet, rude and arrogant, so why? why did you pick his presence over any one else’s? “no, sorry, i’m busy with my boyfriend right now.” those word made him feel good. you’d still pick him over anything.

“the gallic shrug”, you’d always say actions speak louder than words, and you ment it. sometimes when you couldn’t find the right words something you’d show it through actions. he was giving you the silent treatment one day but, you still put some effort in to talking to him. even if those methods failed, you’d give him his usual lunch you made, the texts of good morning, goodnight, i love you, take care, etc.

he still remembers you, your habits, your voice, just you in general.

seeing you step away from the concert after you made eye contact with each other, he felt a ting of sadness. did you still resent him for that argument? he didn’t have time to think on it too much i mean how could? he’s performing in front of thousands of people.

he makes a mental note to try to find you after this. if he can’t he’ll text you. even if he’s blocked he’ll find a way.

staring at your door, hearing the banging against it, you can’t lie it’s crazy as hell.

“omg y/n, i swear if you do not open this god damn door right now, imma kick it down and i’m not joking girl.” lumine said. something tells you she means her threat.

contemplating your choices to either open the door or just let her kick the door and let herself in manually. you look at the door knowing you’d be forced to confess you’re secret. slowly opening the door you let lumine in as well as hu tao.

“hu what are you doing here?, i thought it was only lumine.” you said with confusion. “hehe, just in case you get murdered, you’ll be next my client!!”

“okay that doesn’t matter right now, what matters is why are you lying to us y/n. no jokes. tell me and hu the truth.”

“uhm, how about we sit down for this one.” hu tao has a mischievous look in her eyes, “is it that bad y/nnie?”, “unfortunately, yes.”

“okay enough small talk. tell us everything right now.” lumine looks at you with seriousness in her eyes.

sighing before you start talking. “okay so, to sum up why i didn’t wanna go anymore so suddenly is because, my ex is apart of that band.”

both of them looking at you like you’re joking, saying the same line at the same time. “BITCH WHATTT??!!”

“wait you’re joking, like honestly this is some lie to cover up the whole reason.” hu tao says, lumine nodding in agreement.

“i wish i was joking honestly.”

“we’ve been your friend since forever and neither of us have known about this ex??? i was beginning to think you was wuh luh wuh.” lumine retorted

“listen this ex was in highschool. we broke up after a shitty as argument. and i don’t wanna face him again ever. never in my life again. i’ll avoid him in any way that i humanly can.”

“listen y/nnie, i know that it’s hard to get over people, but you can’t let him control your life. he can’t stop you from going to a concert. he shouldn’t matter anymore we’re almost done with university, and guess what your life’s been great! if he doesn’t matter before then he shouldn’t matter now or in the future.” lumine states, she’s always been good with her words.

“that’s true y/n, you need to go live your life, you cnat just not go to somewhere just because he’s going to be there. facing him could help you get over him. you said y’all relationship ended cause of an argument right? you could get closure from meeting him again at this concert. i promise this could be good for you.”

almost tearing up you hug them both. “i love you guys so much, thank you hearing me out and helping em through it, you guys are the best.”

“hehe it’s no problem pookie!” hu tao stated with a bright smile. “what she said y/n, we’re here for you, as well as everyone else. don’t be afraid to open up to us.”

hearing a ding from hu tao’s phone, she checks it, shoving her phone in your’s and lumine’s face. “look!!! even albedo is going now! yoi convinced him.”

“looks like the whole group’s coming.” you said with a content smile.

“yes yes!!! okay intervention over. i’m glad we got this out of the way, now you can enjoy yourself at the concert and not give a fuck about that ex.” lumine said going back to her cheery self.
