Former BMW F1 Driver Still Aiming for a Race Seat in 2019
33-year-old Polish motor racing star Robert Kubica has set his sights firmly on securing a race seat for the 2019 F1 World Championship. The Pole had to settle for a reserve and developmental role with Williams this season after failing to secure a racing berth.
The former BMW Sauber driver became the first Polish driver in F1 back in 2006 but sustained a serious injury whilst taking part in a rally car event in Andorra back in 2011. Kubica partially severed his right forearm, leading to a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Since 2013, Kubica has made appearances in a host of rally and endurance events, but he still harbours an ambition to compete again at the highest level in Formula One.
Kubica is part of the backroom team at Williams for the 2018 F1 World Championship, acting as the team’s primary reserve and occasional Friday testing driver. He has witnessed Williams’ slump in fortunes at first hand and publicly admitted that there was little to like about the team’s 2018 car. When recently asked what his favourite aspect about the latest Williams car, Kubica could only say that “the livery is nice”. While the third most successful F1 team in the history of the sport have mustered just four points all season so far, at the other end of the grid things are hotting up nicely.
Technical difficulties plagued the Mercedes team at crucial points of the Austrian Grand Prix, allowing Red Bull’s young prodigy, Max Verstappen to step in and take the chequered flag. Lewis Hamilton surrendered his World Championship lead in the process, but the latest F1 odds still make Hamilton a 1/2 favourite to claim his fifth world title this year.
Returning to Kubica, the Pole is relaxed about the prospect of driving for Williams next season, suggesting that his future could be elsewhere as “there are more teams” and opportunities in the coming months. Toro Rosso’s struggling driver, Brendon Hartley is reportedly in danger of losing his drive. Helmut Marko, head of Red Bull’s driver program, insisted Hartley was not going anywhere “at the moment”, but acknowledged that the situation was “not pleasing”. Kubica is reportedly one of three potential mid-season replacements, with up-and-coming stars Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Giovinazzi said to be possible contenders alongside the Pole.
The summer break is fast approaching for the 2018 F1 World Championship and many of the leading drivers prefer to have their long-term futures sorted prior to this period. Options on drivers for next season will expire in the autumn, so Kubica should have a good idea of his race seat options within the next few months. For the meantime, Kubica will continue to get minutes behind an F1 wheel where he can for Williams in testing. In many ways, driving Williams’ 2018 car is a real baptism of fire, but if he can get a tune out of it in any way, the team principals of many other teams will surely take notice of Kubica’s potential for 2019.

Car insurance: add-ons, fees and charges
When you want to take out a car insurance policy, you can choose between three different levels of cover: third party; third party, fire and theft; and fully comprehensive. Though third party coverage is the bare minimum requirement for legally driving on UK roads, you might find that the highest level – fully comprehensive – is actually cheaper, as high-risk drivers can often favor third party only.
Taking out “fully comp” cover, as it is colloquially known, would also assure you that you are covered for repairs and replacements to not only third parties but also your own vehicle. However, it would still not cover you for every single eventuality. To make up for this, you could opt for various “add-ons”, too – and even use of a rudimentary policy could incur fees and charges like those cited below.
Example add-ons to… add on to an insurance policy
Once you are holding a policy, you can usually expect it to provide you with a courtesy BMW should your customary vehicle be damaged and so need to be left in the garage while it is repaired. However, policies can differ in whether they could indeed guarantee a replacement BMW and, if they could, whether that vehicle would be like yours in both size and make. If the policy would only provide a basic vehicle as a temporary replacement, you might be attracted to enhanced courtesy car cover, which enables you to improve what would be available. Meanwhile, if your BMW car keys are lost, replacement keys – and locks to go with them – could be funded by what is known as key insurance. Breakdown cover is yet another example add-on cited on the Which? site.
Watch out for hidden little expenses
You might prefer to forgo any add-ons in an attempt to rein in the expense of your car insurance as much as possible. That’s your decision to make, but you could still be caught out by various little fees and charges that eat into your budget in a way for which you originally hadn’t accounted.
For example, if you hold a policy that you would like to change, actually tinkering with it would likely incur what can be called an adjustment fee. Changes capable of bringing fees of this type include changing your name on the policy – a possibility if you get wed – and adding a second driver.
The added expense of paying monthly for a policy could also elude your notice. You might have theorized that chopping up the cost of insurance into monthly chunks would surely let you spread that expense. However, going down this route would entail you taking out a loan to which a high rate of interest is attached. Sometimes, the APRs of such loans can reach 40%!
To what extent can you avoid such costs?
It’s easy to be cynical about insurers’ tendency to charge such easy-to-overlook fees. In March, the Daily Mail reported that UK insurers were yearly making £800 million from “rip-off extras”. Furthermore, that’s only considering the income that was publicly disclosed; as not all of the leading insurers are transparent, they could be helping to conceal a much higher total haul. There remain clever means through which you could bring down the price of car insurance. Those means include waiting for a policy to expire before you switch insurers; otherwise, you could be hit with a cancellation fee, the Which? website warns.
When looking for a new policy, use a broker like Call Wiser. Visit the Call Wiser website to learn more about how this company’s services could help.

Spy Video: Hardcore 2019 BMW X3 M Tackles the Ring at High Speeds
The Bavarian based carmaker BMW is on a full swing with its newest prototypes being tested out on different parts of Europe; following recent tests of the new 2019 Z4 M40i at Autodrome de Miramas in the South of France, the future BMW X3 M has been put to work at the famous Nurburgring track, in Germany.
Judging by the evidently stripped-off camouflage, these are perhaps the prototype`s final tests before a final debut, presuming at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, this September. To see the SUV`s stage of development, you can also access the spy video below.
From a visual standpoint, the hardcore model from the X3 series presents itself with an extremely aggressive body style, highlighted by a number of impressive M goodies. We are dealing here with updated front and rear bumpers, along with new side skirts and roof-mounted spoiler. The whole look is complemented with the now much larger alloy wheels.
Mechanically, the new 2019 X3 M features new braking system, sports suspension, along with the carmaker`s updated launch control and retuned electronics, all increasing its driving and handling capabilities.
From previous posts, we also know that the interior of the 2019 BMW X3 M is going to come with a lot of new improvements compared to the previous model. We are expecting more M goodies, better high-end materials and the company`s latest high-tech gadgetries, also underpinning other new models from BMW.
As for powertrains under the hood, word has it that the new X3 M will be equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo-charged inline six-cylinder engine, also known as the S58 pot, the same that is put on the 40i models. In the X3 M, the engine could come up with around 454 horsepower. This means that it would be around 99 horsepower more powerful than the M40i, with a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h done in 4.0 seconds. Without the M Driver`s Package, the top speed will stop at 250 km/h, or 280 km/h with the system installed.
You can find more details about the future 2018 BMW X3 M in the spy video below! Stay tuned and don’t forget to share your opinions with us!

New 2019 BMW Z4 M40i Spied in Miramas, France, Testing Phase Is Closing to an End
Following a series of spy photos which revealed the upcoming BMW Z4 fully camouflaged while performing different testing sessions, a couple of new updates have emerged on the surface, showcasing the future convertible model at BMW`s testing facility in Miramas, France, performing what appears to be the final tests, just before heading for production line in a couple of months.
Autodrome de Miramas in the south of France is the company`s second largest well-known centre after Nurburgring where some of the finest prototypes are being put to the ultimate tests rides before reciving the go ahead for production. It offers the perfect conditions to test out the prototypes` driving capabilities, power and much more.
Speaking of the test mule`s final tests on the Autodrome de Miramas, Jos van As, Director of Application Suspension, also stated:
“The vehicle concept of the new BMW Z4 is geared consistently towards agility and driving dynamics. The high level of body stiffness and the very rigid suspension attachment provide the perfect basis for a set-up that guarantees the performance qualities of a genuine sports car in terms of steering precision as well as longitudinal and transverse acceleration.”
Reportedly heading for an official European unveiling at the 2018 Paris Motor Show this September and heading towards markets worldwide at the beginning of 2019, the new BMW Z4 in its top variant M40i, will come with an evolutionary design language, with lines borrowed from the concept unveiled some while ago at the Pebble Beach.
The car`s muscular and aggressive body style is also given by the plethora of M goodies. We should find as well the M lightweight alloy wheels, lowered sports suspension system with electronically controlled dampers, M sport braking system or electronically controlled lock for the rear axle differential.
In the engine department, the all-new 2019 BMW Z4 M40i is likely to feature a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. The power and torque figures are not provided yet, but it could easily exceed 265 kW and 500 Nm of torque that the engine produces in the X3 M40i. Stay tuned for more upcoming details!

2019 BMW X3 M40d Arrives in Europe This July, Packs Increased Power
After the arrival of the bigger and much more stylish X4 M40d sibling, the German based carmaker has also announced the introduction of the same variant from the X3, with sales to commence this July. Prices haven’t been yet released but we expect fresh news in the upcoming period.
Compared to last year`s model, the new 2019 BMW X3 M40d is much bigger, wider and enhanced with even more technological gizmos inside the cabin. However, the big news is that this year`s model is enhanced with more power.
Dealing with the G01 BMW X3 M40d, the gorgeous model comes with a B57 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine, developing a good 326 horsepower and impressive 680 Nm of torque, available at as low as 1,750 rpm. On the other hand, its brother in arms the X3 M40i comes with 370 horsepower and only 500 Nm of torque, the latter one being tenth second faster.
This means that the 2019 BMW X3 M40d performs a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, at a top speed which is electronically-limited to 250 km/h, just like most of the carmaker`s new model lineup. The power is sent to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission, the same which gears up its M40i sibling, too.
Even if it packs a 3.0-liter displacement with such important performance figures, power and torque, the new X4 M40d seems to be highly-efficient in terms of fuel consumption. It thus manages a combined consumption of just 6.5L/100 km, while the CO2 emissions combined don’t exceed 169 g/km.
As for exterior visuals, the new BMW X4 M40d is easily standing out from the crowd with the M Sport package, which enhances its aggressive looks. The most important highlights are the Cerium Gray exterior accents, as well as the 20-inch alloy wheels now coming with M Sport brakes. The model is standardly equipped as well with M Sport suspension system and variable sports steering system.

BMW M550i xDrive Shines in Abu Dhabi with AC Schnitzer Body Treatment
If you really fancy high-class and exclusively-modified BMW models, then you should definitely visit the carmaker`s most impressive dealership in the world, located in Abu Dhabi.
BMW Abu Dhabi Motors offers a real spectacle when it comes to fine customizations. With more than 200 models (classics, iconic, new) on display, the dealership has achieved world fame and is visited by more than 250,000 people every year. And if you also happen to be there these days, don’t forget to snapshot the newly added BMW M550i with the well-known body treatment courtesy of AC Schnitzer.
Even if it`s not the M5 which everybody seems to favour these days, it`s closely sitting next to it – it is the M550i xDrive – standing out from the crowd with the exotic Aventurini Red and new stylish bits from AC Schnitzer.
While the 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine remains stock with the impressive 456 horsepower and a 3.9 second sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, the M-infused body has received a couple of new enhancements from the German dedicated BMW tuner.
The car`s main highlight is the fixed rear wing which increases its aerodynamics, providing more downforce. There is also the custom exhaust system, which is a characteristic of the tuner, along with carbon fiber accents and the new 20-inch AC Schnitzer alloy wheels.
Also, the car sits better and lower on the road, thanks to the new spring kit working in tandem with the stock adaptive M suspension system. This means that the ride height has been lowered by 25-30 mm up front and 20-25 mm at the back. This means greater stance and increased visuals.
The aero kit also comprises some subtle carbon fiber accents on the new front lip, while the rear diffuser has also been enhanced a little bit to offer that aggressive punch you may otherwise find on the hardcore M5.
The interior is not that flashy as we might have expected, however, there are a couple of new goodies that make it quite an eye-catcher. Some of the areas have been finished in black to complement the exterior, while the infotainment system for the rear seats offers plenty of high-tech gadgetries. The white accents with use of wood trim provide a high-class feel.

G30/G31 BMW 5-Series with Sterckenn Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler Lip
The latest creation from BMW, the all-new 5-Series in the G30 and G31 variants is extremely-well built, the model coming with advanced design language and plenty of high-end features inside the cabin. More than that, if you opt for the M Performance package, you get more exclusive styling bits which increase its aggressive looks.
However, there are tuners worldwide that can take the visual customizations to a whole new level. Let`s take for instance the BMW dedicated tuner Manhart, which has already established a name for exclusive and aggressive programs.
Taking a look at the below 5-Series model from BMW, you might think that it is another customized built from Manhart tuning firm. It does resemble, but it is actually signed by another aftermarket shop that has added a couple of carbon fiber bits over the car`s body style. So we are not dealing here with modified styling cues, as the tuner`s work imply its own bits over the stock body parts.
The tuner in question is Sterckenn, a UK-sourced shop that also loves customizing BMW models. And for this lad here, the only condition here is to be fit with the M Performance package. According to aftermarket specialists, the model in question has received a carbon fiber front lip over the car`s own M Performance front spoiler.
To achieve that, the technicians have used 100 percent (pre-impregnated) carbon fiber technology which under high temperatures and pressures ensures unique carbon fiber body parts. The end result is ensured by Autoclave curing, allowing thus rigidity, strength and quality of the aforementioned body part.
The good news is that the new carbon fiber front lip does not spoil the car`s appearance, enhancing thus its extremely aggressive design that can be otherwise achieved by tuners like Manhart. Hence the resemblance with the German tuner own body parts.
You can find more about the tuner`s new piece in the media gallery below! Enjoy and don’t forget to share your opinions with us!

Video: BMW Motorrad Unveils Concept 9cento Superbike
While BMW is busy testing out and preparing its latest models, Motorrad division is also in the works of latest superbike concepts. One of them has just been released in the media and is presumed to lead the way for a future bike in the Adventure Sport series.
Motorrad`s new concept is titled 9cento and represents “the ideal sports touring bike”, with a stylish and an extremely aerodynamic design. As the company also mentioned, the concept gives us a “look ahead to what an exciting new Adventure Sport model might look like.”
Besides the couple of details about its style, there are no any info concerning the amount of power it will come with. However, Edgar Heinrich, Head of Design at BMW Motorrad, gave us enough reasons to believe that the concept is fit to wear the carmaker`s badge, stating:
We’ve created a bike that combines the appropriate power with reliable sports touring properties and above all lots of riding fun, so it’s an attractive overall package. It brings together the best of the sports, adventure and touring segments to produce an exciting concept – in a class which has not seen this kind of model from BMW before.”
The BMW Motorrad Concept 9cento features an extremely appealing design, with plenty of new aluminum components, ’hovering’ side panels, nicely-sculpted fuel tank, as well as a windscreen which provides protection against the elements.
The new concept is also extremely practical, coming with an ”innovative storage space concept”, featuring a clip-element on the rear of the motorcycle. The bike can also be had with a rear passenger seat or storage case.
Mechanically, the Concept 9cento comes with a milled aluminum rear carrier and carbon fiber reinforced plastic frame, along with a touring-focused suspension system which provides increased comfort and a ”sense of light-footedness.”
Other significant details can be found in the official video presentation of the BMW Mottorad Concept 9cento Bike! Enjoy and don`t forget to share your opinions with us!

Manhart Powers-Up BMW M4
When it comes to heavy BMW customizations, Manhart tuner from Germany is my favourite. They recreate distinctive power upgrades, however, in the last years they have also created special aero programs for all sorts of models.
We have had the pleasure of telling you about many BMW M2s, M3s, M4s or some from the X lineup, all featuring spectacular aftermarket body parts or impressive upgrades under the hood. And I will always keep updating you about any new projects Manhart will be carrying out on a BMW model.
Today we have the opportunity of telling you about the below BMW M4, the gorgeous M4 with good looks and extraordinary performance, which has received a new power module and a couple of new mechanical stuffs.
The whole project is called MH4 550 and comprises some new ‘’toys’’ which make the model more powerful. We are dealing here with a carbon fiber intake system in-house built by Eventuri tuner, and which increases the engine soundtrack and adds more power. With the new exhaust in one place, the tuner also added new cat-less downpipes which help the gas to exit into the Manhart muffler system with a custom piping. And there is of course, the new ECU remapping, also helpful in boosting the power.
Speaking of power, the BMW M4 by Manhart is equipped with the famous S55 3.0-liter twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder engine, developing 331 kW and 550 Nm of torque. However, with the new systems installed, this lad here is capable of 405 kW and a staggering 820 Nm of torque. Performance figures haven’t been provided, but given the standard 4.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, we expect this lad manage at least 3.9 seconds.
Other technicalities refer to KW Variant 3 coil-overs and new high-performance wheels with wide tires, all increasing the car`s stance and stability. At the exterior, the model is tweaked with M Performance Parts, all made from carbon fiber. The most important ones refer to M Performance front spoiler, M Performance rear diffuser and new bonnet with GTR vents.
As for interior adjustments, the technicians from Manhart have fitted a red roll cage and Recaro bucket seats, while the rear seats have been removed to make the car lighter. There is also the M Performance Alcantara on the steering wheel and black Alcantara seats for a more luxurious feel.
