Learning Japanese through comprehensible input because traditional English methods are kinda poopoo.

Hullo yall, my name is Kyle, I’m 30 years old in the midwest US. I had been attempting to learn Japanese on and off for years, until things started clicking about a year ago. Since then I’ve gone through Duolingo, Wanikani, Bunpro, Genki… but most English resources were either too verbose or just weren’t making sense to me. Wanikani was good, but teaching and memorizing onyomi before kunyomi made anything that wasn’t a compound difficult to read.
Then I found Cure Dolly and Comprehensible Japanese (her videos are literally my cocomelon rn), and things actually started making sense.
My blog name comes from my どうぶつの森E+/Animal Crossing town, みかん林村, or Mikanhayashi (orange grove). Ideally I’d like to use Animal Crossing, and probably some Pokemon too, to create a sort of daily output in Japanese through this blog.
