I ran across some images of one of these, I thought they were the misguided work of some guy high on fiberglass fumes, turns out they actually sold these. There's not enough eye bleach in the world to un-see this

I remember seeing these on the roads in the Netherlands in the '70's. They really took things like staying in the right lane unless passing very seriously, and the speed limit was the speed limit. These 911 Targas were always on the prowl, going considerably faster than anything else on the road. You'd see them without the top, and the policemen bundled up like the top photo.

I for one never had a great love for Volkswagen Beetles. Cramped in the back, windows completely iced over all winter, slow, noisy, and it had been ingrained in me by my father, who lived under German occupation during WWII, that all things German were to be shunned. Oddly he would go on to own a plethora of later Volkswagen products, but my dislike of the Beetle would never change. All that said, I do like this

There's very few modern racing cars that appeal to me, this was kind of the end of the road. Great livery, and a shape that's still pleasing.

1952 Hudson Hornet convertible. It's dreamy. But why change the exterior colour so drastically to have boring black interior.
