I have been worrying the trouser leg of the 'Music Business' since the early 1970s. To be sure during the first 20 years I did not make much, if any, actual music but I did supplement my main income spending my weekends and holidays working in support roles such as lighting, drum tech, record engineering and carrying stuff for the likes of UFO, Gryphon, Friars' Club Aylesbury and Rene DeKnight. At the beginning of 2007 I decided to start the MikeWillStew project and try to record some songs, more or less from scratch. In 1994 I had managed to record 3 tracks for a stillborn pre MP3/My Space era cassette-in-the-post scheme.Life kept on getting in the way and though I did start this blog in 2007 it has lain dormant. Until now that I have retired.MikeWillStew was conceived as a virtual power trio but I realised that that requires a quality of chops I do not possess so I have co-opted Enoch, our virtual engineer, to form a Bass, Drum, Keyboards and Guitar combo. Occasional audio snippets* of progress along with short videos and gear reviews should show up here. This project is purely for my amusement and if nobody ever hears any of the stuff I produce I do not care. However if you do hear anything you like please get in touch through this site and/or tell a friend.Follow the link below for a fuller backstory to MikeWillStew if you wish. Thanks, Michael * Snippets will be mostly 'Radio' mixes i.e mono and of limited bitrate. Some very short samples and bonus tracks may be posted in high-fidelity. All music and videos are ©MichaelWSStone.1994-2017 unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

Lune-y Tune from Michael Stone on Vimeo.
This time the CTC in Lancashire had a 100 mile Challenge Ride which took in the city of Lancaster and specifically the cycle/foot path alongside the River Lune. Then along to Glasson Dock and over the toll bridge that divides the Ecclestones. Congrats to the lads(!) for completing the course. We didn't have much choice to be honest.

Out with the CTC in Lancashire again featuring the coast, a jubilee tower and the Trough of Bowland. Almost 92 miles all told. Notice the frighteningly accurate impersonation of a 5 year-old playing a recorder.

RidingTheSeaWall from Michael Stone on Vimeo.
On a bicycle ride with the Cyclist Touring Club we rode along part of a sea wall on the North West coast of England. I have composed a little soundtrack for it which contains 7 apposite musical references. Can you spot them? 2 are somewhat obscure. No prizes on offer, sadly. This is the first piece I have recorded after a 3 year hiatus so my performance skills are a little rusty but this video needed to be posted in a timely manner so here it is warts and all.

Finally...
Welcome to the MikeWillStew feat:Enoch project and its Tumblr.
It has taken 10 years since I first thought of doing this to finally acquiring all the gear I wanted and, most importantly, having the time and space to set it up and actually start recording stuff.
Above and below this post are 2 short examples of what I have managed to do over the past few years and a taste of things to come.
Soon I hope to post some videos of a tour around my set up and some reviews of my kit.
I hope you find them interesting.
Cheers,
Michael
