In El Rayno, players take on the role of advisors seeking to influence court personalities to their benefit, with the goal of recruiting the most powerful allies to win the game. Since KCD2 came out, the fandom got a lot bigger and seems very much alive! so I decided to repost my old kcd fanart - made before the second game came out. I still love the first and the second one very much.

I feel like so many fanfics have Hans being vapid, stuck-up and nasty, like he's like that for maybe 15 mins at the beginning of the first game (im biased but that bit feels like a terrible attempt at jockular humour from Hans) but 90% of the time he's not like that at all. Or maybe people are just holding a grudge because he refused to haul sacks with you that one time...

Hans is not a brat, but he is childlike: he has a tendency to take everything at face value. He has a simplistic worldview and tends to believe "if i act honorably i will be treated honorably" which is why Bergow and Brabant are able to trick him so effortlessly, why he thinks he can just be honest and say he's a noblemen (and be believed) when he's caught poaching, and it's why he thinks if he can just be the perfect ward, Hanush will allow him to take control of his estates.

Hans thinks everyone is as honest and straightforward as he is. He's naïve in the sense that he believes the world operates as it "should" do, without the complexities and crookedness that it actually operates with.
