Blog Post #10
This week I worked on finishing up my final shots for the production pass, as well as setting up the presentation for said production pass! I finished up 3 shots, those being FGV F12-14. I also edited together the audio for the final pass.
Individual experiences
How have you developed as an artist and animator throughout the semester?
I've developed a lot of skills in being able to revise things. Revisions aren't something you'll often get in classes so it was a bit of a learning curve to have to go back and change something from how it was before.
2. What are some areas where you have gained experience or knowledge?
I've gained a lot of knowledge in helping guide a project. In general I've never been the type to be put into leadership roles, but I think because this film came from my original idea a lot of people looked to me for guidance on it. It was a little strange and not something I was entirely used to, but I'm glad to have gained the experience and honestly kind of like it!
3. Was there anything about the production experience that surprised you? How did you handle the unexpected challenges?
Not much surprised me. I think having had experience from the 30 second shorts from last semester really helped me not panic for this one. The real problems we will experience I think are going to be next semester when we start animation and rigging.
4. What are you most proud of in terms of your accomplishments this semester?
I'm very proud of having gotten all of my assets that were assigned to me done in this semester! It was a lot of a work on very important items, but for the most part they are finished (unless we need revisions for animation).
5. What do you think you could have done better this semester?
Getting my blog posts done in a timely manner. As well as being better at planning out my semester to give me equal time to work on all my classes. I fell apart about half way though on.
List some personal goals for the next two semesters.
A personal goal next semester is to be able to finish all of the character rigs. If we want to be able to not panic in our third semester and give our selves the best outcome, I n e e d to get those rigs done.
Another goal I have for next semester is to get the rest of my shots for the 3D animatic done.
Group experiences
How did your group handle the challenges and requirements of the semester?
It was mostly smooth sailing up until this weekend where we ran into some probably with blocking out certain sections in our board. As a group though I think we handled that problem very well by talking it out and giving suggestions! It's also very good that no one in our group seems to take it personally when we may need to revise certain work!
2. In what ways did your group maintain focus on the goals of the project?
I believe a big reason as to why we were able to get as much done as we did as a group is because we had a great scheduler (Mac) and we outlined what our goals were at the very beginning. It kept us all very focused.
3. How did your group handle personal or interpersonal issues that came up along the way?
We didn't have many interpersonal problems as a group. I think what has helped is that everyone is very chill and we've emphasized making sure everyone's feeling like they have a good work load.
4. Do you feel that everyone’s personal strengths are being used well?
I think so! A lot of the animators I'm sure are going to be very happy to get started next semester though!
5. Do you feel that the work is being shared fairly?
Yes. One of the things we emphasize every week in our weekly meetings is seeing if people are feeling good about the amount of work they are doing.
6. What did your group do well this semester?
I think everyone did very well with being flexible with changes as well as being able to focus on their work.
7. What do you feel your group could have done better?
The approving system is something we will be working on more.
8. List some goals that your group has for the next two semesters.
Two goals for next semester are having most of our textures done, and hopefully being done with 1/4 our animation!

Knit Wits Development Week #6
This week I spent most of my time organizing for the upcoming Production Pass 2! This included making turn tables for all the assets and editing the storyboard to include updated segments and new 3D layouts.
I hope next production pass I am able to add temp audio in here to give more life to our scenes!

This week I spent time making the check out counter, as well as creating a plant for it. I still need to add the leaves to the plant.

Knit Wits Development Week #3
Ok, so, major updates as far as the work I've been up to! First off I finished the model for Seed!
TADA!! I'm verry happy with how he turned out. I think the way the yarn looks is great and that I got his vibes down just right.
Because he's finished I oved on to Brocade, and if I'm being honest he doesn't look as great.
While I like his basic shape, the string wrapped around his hair just isn't doing it for me. I think I also need to work out the shape of his hair because it's looking too round.
I also finally got my iPad back so I finally able to get my concept art or the unraveled yarn balls uploaded. So here they are!
And yeah those are this weeks updates!

Knit Wits Development Week 2
Start of week 2! I wasn't able to finish the concept art for this week, but I did finish the shot list as well as do some music research for the sounds of this film!
Another thing we worked on this week was getting our working agreements written down. With that that is most of what happened for me this week. I will be getting the concept art done by tomorrow night.

Knit Wits Development Week 1
We are finally developing our short films! In general this first week of development has been one of a lot of excitement. I'm very happy to be working with such talented people and feel just really honored and lucky to have gotten my idea chosen to be a short film.
Aside from just standing around being hyped, the group and I got a lot done as far as getting organized goes. We met on Friday last week to start establishing roles, general goals for the end of the semester, and also the 5 pillars of our film. I have kind of taken the role of directing people to what needs to get done, and Mack and Isabel have helped me a lot in keeping myself organized.
When we met on Monday we mostly just spent time establishing a main asset list. The Xcel spreadsheet was created by Mack as well. I am again very grateful for their organizational skills. Isabel also had made a Discord server at that point so we could all communicate.
Finally, Wednesday we established some norms and started on concept art and deciding which parts of the story board need to be polished up. Isabel, Sam, and I then spent time writing a more solid script for the scroll adding as many egregious yarn and cat pun as we could. Here's what we came up with:
(still not the solid script. w e n e e d m o r e p u n s.)
My task for the next week is to write out the rest of the shot list, create concept art for pin cushions and some unwound yarn, as well as approving and giving notes to the rest of the concept art.
