Herbal tea was good enough, though it wasn’t exactly his favorite considering the small amount of times he’s actually tried it. He groaned at hit his head down on the wood in confliction, looking up at the clock. 32 minutes, because of his good behavior and productivity at work he was given some pretty lengthy lunch breaks, and if he wasn’t allowed to have em — Splendid wasn’t above threatening to quit, losing him would be a big crash in his department.

“ That does sound really nice… but I’m a pretty deep sleeper and you don’t do good with loud noises, I don’t wanna wear out my welcome, and if I don’t wake up in time then they’ll take out a chunk from my paycheck — assholes ”

“...”

    He frowns at them giving another pat before sighing.He moved to go get some hot water.Luckily he keeps his tea packets at his desk ready to go.Passing the cup he dropped a bag in it and sat at his chair.

“Well,no helping that I guess..Just try to get some sleep afterwards then...I know you probably taken worse but your healths still important.”

His fluffy ear twitches at the touch, flattening to get more of the pats, “ I’ll be fine… I think, I’ve fought monsters worst than sleep, I can take a little fatigue! ” — as if on cue, the peaceful atmosphere of the library and knowing he has a friend nearby makes his eyes droop and himself yawn.

Splendid stretches and fidgets with his hands, trying to keep himself awake, seeing the irony of timing made him giggle like a child, he saw it as hilarious, glancing at Flippy he smiled, “ Do you have anything to like… drink here? Coffee? Tea? Anything to keep a tired hero awake? ”

   The little yawn says otherwise.As he patted them he hummed abit contemplating what he has.

“Coffee?..No me and caffine do not mix..”

   The jitters,the heart pounding,anxiety,the fight or flight mode.It’s a recipe for disaster.A sure fire way in triggering him,he should know he used to drink it before to battle his drowsiness considering he was plagued by nightmares for a short while.But drinking coffee wasn’t worth it if he ends up losing it.

“I carry herbal tea...Come on ches,alittle nap won’t hurt you.I have a nice bean bag with your name on it,and i’ll be sure to wake you up before your breaks over okay?”

“ That’s a nice way to look at it! Now you know that I’m the famous hero Splendid and now I know that you’re… ”, he went quiet, while he did know who Flippy was, he also knew that the bear didn’t like that side of him at all — he can’t say he liked it either though, he hated fighting his friend, especially since that friend is in a frenzy they can’t control.

“ I’ll keep your secret, no matter what, I know you don’t really like thinking about it but those moments don’t change anything — at least on my side, you’re still Flippy and you’re still my friend! My best friend, actually! ”

“Thank you.”

   He was forever grateful they considered them his best friend.He’s been trying to get better with therapy and medication.Breathing exercises the works,it’s why he chose a silent,calm library to work at.Somewhere he wouldn’t stress or worry about ‘Flipping out’.It’s not completely perfect but it’s the better choice considering how hand’s on and dangerous other jobs can be whenever it’s for him or other’s.

“I’m gald you said that Chesnut..”

   He gave a small smile and moved away from the cart to sit in his chair and gently patted his friends head.

“Now then..if you still have time on your break you should take a nap.”

“ I’m fine, don’t worry about it flips — just stayed up a bit too late, nothin too big. I’m sure this comes as a big shock so I get it! I… hope you still wanna be friends though… ”, Splendid stood straight, nervous and smiling, hopeful that they’d still be close, even with their limited time in the library he enjoyed the conversations they’d have and he always make sure Flippy was involved in his ramblings — he thought their time was well spent together and he hoped the bear saw the same.

   He relaxed slightly.He was relieved the other still acted the same,it’s only fair he does the same back..

“..Of course I do.You’ve stuck around dispite knowing about...”

    His voice trailed off not wanting to finish his sentance.But the other should have a idea who he is referring to.It’s a surpise on his part how he still has a friend after learning that.It’s hard for him to approach others due to his PTSD but these convo’s between the the two that happen at his work.They mean alot to him.

“You know mine,I know yours..A fair trade I suppose?”

Feeling as if a weight was lifted from his shoulders, splendid smiled tiredly, laying his head on the wooden desk — the idea of his true self being put on blast kept him up all night as he kept a keen eye on any and all news on his hero persona. “ That’s a relief, I was so worried you’d expose me to some news station, tons of people would’ve done so already, those fake fans… ”

Noticing the rush Flippy was apparently in, Splendid smiled, leaning over the desk again, not yet realizing that he’s the reason for the panic, “ You need help? Never knew being a librarian could be so difficult, I’m on my lunch break, I could spare some time n’ help out if you want! ’S the least I could do for you keeping me a secret! ”

    Okay he needs to take a breath and calm down.If he keeps fidgiting like this he’s gonna panic more and start hyperventilating and the spiral downhill will not end well if he flips.Pausing in putting the books away he stared at them laying head on the desk asking if he needed help...Right.This wasn’t a big deal.This was certainly surprising but the other seems to have it rough with this whole double life..Boy he can imagine...He weakily chuckled and put a book on the pile.

“It’s..fine.really I just need to process this...Besides you look...Tired.Really tired...Are you okay?”

Anxiously looking around the library, Splendid was growing impatient. He was in his normal civilian clothes and searching for that damned librarian bear, just when he was a about to reach his wits end, he saw a flash of green that went just behind the librarian desk — he wasted no time rushing to the desk and leaning over on the wood, he looked like a crazy person but this was his reputation at stake, he can't let someone who knows who he truly is roam free!

Looking behind the metal cart filled with books, he let out a sigh of relief seeing the bear, he anxiously tapped his claws against the wood as he spoke, “ Flippy! Just the bear I wanted to see — so uh. . . about what you saw back there with the twins n' stuff. . . you haven't told anyone right? Can't let that get out, ya know? ”

He was casually pushing the cart as he put books away in their respected aisle.Once he was done he  returned to the fron desk with his cart to load up the next set he’s collected from the other’s returns.Though when he was doing that he heard tapping.His ears twitched and he smiled about to greet till he saw the squirrel on the other side of the desk.

  His eyes widen and he ducked behind the pile.Ah why now?He was just forgetting about that incident.How else was he suppose to process how he found out chesnut was the superhero of the city?Yeah they beared some resemblance but he didn’t meet the hero enough in their superhero persona to connect the dots till now.    Trying to calm down he shook his head and started to load his cart back up.

“No.Nope!Spl-…er Chesnut.I haven’t..I won’t…I promise.”

Casually just holds up a really big stuffed bear to Flippy's face. And I mean like... REALLY big. It's literally as big, if not BIGGER, than Ai' herself. Don't ask where she got it. Just take her offering. Of love. Also it's a semi-apology for mother-nature being an ass.
