NG: That you have to put in the work.  You may not want to sometimes, but you’re not just going to be amazing on your first try.

"But you’re too pretty to be a drummer!”  That’s what they told you, as if that’s a legitimate excuse.  If you were going to do music, you were going to do it on your terms, with the percussion coursing through your bones like the heartbeat of a god.  And you see every poster board in the audience with your name and a pair of drumsticks like exclamation points.   You know exactly what you’re doing. You’re here to set an example.

MANDY SHEPARD – You’ve been giving her drum lessons on the side, in case you can’t play one night for whatever reason.  It...could be going better.

AARON HAYNES – Maybe someday you’ll try things again.  You won’t deny he’ll make a great husband to someone in the future.  But for now you’re just happy to still be in his life.

LINDSEY DAVIS – You’re both drum sisters, and you do your best to make the most of that.  Even if Lindsey does some things you find...questionable.

AH: We’re really trying to focus on writing at the moment.  We love being on the road, but we’re all ready to start working with some new material.

That’s the problem when you give good advice - everyone comes running to you with your troubles.  You joke that you should give up the music thing and open your own advice column.  Of course, all you’re trying to do is keep this ship sailing and the sailors from killing each other.  After all, this is your dream, too.  You’re not here just so smile and wave when the time calls for it.

LionBeat: How is Totally Girls is going to move forward, musically?

SG: I think we’re going to aim for a more well-rounded sound - fall away from the autotune.  I’d love to do some acoustic tracks for our next album.

To be in a group means you do things together, right?  Well, somebody didn’t give the other Girls the memo.  They let you sing, but that’s about as far as your involvement goes.  They don’t listen to your suggestions or take you seriously when you have a complaint.  Hell, they barely hang out with you outside of work.  You’re just kind of...there.

CS: Of course!  Those girls and I have been through so much; they’re more like my sisters.

LH: The girls have all been so kind to me - I couldn’t ask for a better experience!  I seriously have the best job in the world.

When Totally Girls started holding auditions, you went for the heck of it.  You rarely sang anywhere outside of choir and the shower; no way they would really take you.  Except they called you back.  And kept calling you back.  You thought it was all a joke until you were signing the contract at the Millennium office.  Truly a Cinderella story.  But now the joke’s on you, forever known as “the girl who replaced Camilla.”

TRISH VELASQUEZ -- While the other girls have been lukewarm at best, she is the only one who has shown you actual kindness.

AMY GUTHRIE – High school choir brought you close.  You always knew she was going to make it, but maybe only she knew you would as well.

CHRISTINA LUCAS – The Girls and the Sirens are supposed to be rivals (so say the media, at least), but that doesn’t stop you from blushing around her.

DAVE PUCKETT – No matter how kind you are to him, he treats you like the dead fly on his windshield.  Maybe because he also knows you don’t belong here.
