The Moon

The Moon is an astronomical body that orbits planet Earth and is Earth's only permanent natural satellite. It is the fifth-largest natural satellite in the Solar System, and the largest among planetary satellites relative to the size of the planet that it orbits (its primary). The Moon is thought to have formed about 4.51 billion years ago, not long after Earth. The most widely accepted explanation is that the Moon formed from the debris left over after a giant impact between Earth and a Mars-sized body called Theia.

Liquid water cannot persist on the lunar surface. When exposed to solar radiation, water quickly decomposes through a process known as photodissociation and is lost to space. However, since the 1960s, scientists have hypothesized that water ice may be deposited by impacting comets or possibly produced by the reaction of oxygen-rich lunar rocks, and hydrogen from solar wind, leaving traces of water which could possibly persist in cold, permanently shadowed craters at either pole on the Moon.

Spaceship Evaluation
I think overall I am pleased with the results of my spaceship. I decided to give a big engine kind of effect as it went with my story of space racers, I think that it looks more evolved into the future. I enjoyed painting it and making it look older and worn out by dry brushing it, however I found it hard to glue bits on as it is very small it became tricky to glue on stuff, especially the wires at the back as they kept coming off from where I glued it, I added on small bits of wire which I think makes it look better and more detailed. I really enjoyed doing the kit bashing method to develop a spaceship as it really helps you think of the structures of a spacecraft and also how functional it would be if it was made in real life, I think that it really opens up a window of creativity and makes it easier to come up with ideas on creating a spacecraft.

Moon Landing Conspiracy Theories
Moon landing conspiracy theories claim that some or all elements of the Apollo program and the associated Moon landings were hoaxes staged by NASA, possibly with the aid of other organizations.

The most notable claim is that the six manned landings (1969–72) were faked and that 12 Apollo astronauts did not actually walk on the Moon. Various groups and individuals have made claims since the mid-1970s that NASA and others knowingly misled the public into believing the landings happened, by manufacturing, tampering with, or destroying evidence including photos, telemetry tapes, radio and TV transmissions, Moon rock samples, and even killing some key witnesses.

‘Shine’ is an animation directed Alexander Dietrich and Johannes Flick and produced by Mareike Keller.
I thought that it was very good, the characters are very adorable and I really like the concept of the two male creatures trying to impress the female creature, and in the end she choses the one that can't light up like the other one that ends up exploding, I think that it was really well made.
vimeo
‘Bloom’ is an animation directed Rafael Vallaperde is is also his original concept. the layout, Modeling and Animation is by Kawe de Sá and the shading and Lighting was done by both Kawe de Sá and Rafael Vallaperde.
I think that this one is very aesthetically pleasing the scenery is very beautifully made and the bug trying to get away from the fly traps is very well done.
vimeo
NOMINT and Tony Zagoraios(Yeti Pictures) were assigned to create the new idents for the Greek TV channel SKAI. The versatile shape of SKAI’s new icon (“the cube”) becomes part of our everyday life and calls us all to discover the multiple sides of the channel’s new character.
I loved the motion in it as it was so smooth and it was very bright and colourful, I really enjoyed watching the movement.
youtube
This one is very satisfying and I like the colours and the metallic objects getting squashed and folded into different things.
vimeo
This one is really amazing, it looks so realistic and I think it is kind of scary how real it actually looks, it is so smooth and I like the movement of the camera as it looks very clean looking.

Unruly Heroes

Set in lush and lively environments, the game will spin a version of the tale that is more lighthearted, colorful and funny than the original while still communicating the deeper message of what it takes to be a hero: Trust, determination, wisdom and courage. The players are invited to mix jumping and climbing challenges with high-intensity combat against an army of enemies and memorable boss characters.

While the Magic Design team has worked on a variety of hugely successful games, many of the most applicable lessons learned for the development of Unruly Heroes have come from their work on Rayman Legends and Valiant Hearts, where they learned about elegant tools for building 2D games.
Magic Design uses Unity as a powerful base to build their game, taking advantage of several built-in features such as the Audio and Particle Systems, not to mention the ability to bring the game to every console and desktop system on the market.

Trinity
Trinity is the pilot episode for a VR series set in a future where humans have long been extinct and androids are fighting a final war against an all-powerful AI.
To ensure they used their budget efficiently, director Boivin insisted they film rehearsals in normal 2D film to edit the story, and prep as much as possible before the 360 VR shoot. Locations were scouted in Prague, where they found a vast "post-apocalyptic" warehouse for cheap.
Final touches were perfected in Unity with the Post-Processing Stack for effects. “Did you know the blacks are different from Vive to Rift?” asks Gros. Thanks to the color-correction capability, the DoP was able to tweak colors for each platform. In the end, the sweat equity and combined experience of veterans Hamilton, Gros, Boulos and visionary director Boivin not only secured impactful results for Trinity, but also delivered a solid experience that stands up for VR at large.

Escape from Tarkov

At a fundamental level, Escape from Tarkov is about tense and realistic gunplay and advancement by looting. Sporting a massive selection of guns and modifications, along with a realistic ballistics model, death in the game can come quickly and painfully. Adding to the realism, weapons need to be cared for lest they wear out and jam or overheat. Similarly, players will need to tend to their own health as bones break, wounds bleed, and exhaustion sets in.

Escape from Tarkov’s large levels and locations allow players to gain tactical advantages over one another and also provide different aesthetics for each battleground.
Battlestate turned to 3D terrain generator World Machine to procedurally create the perfect environment on which to stage compelling gameplay. Once the base was generated, the result was split into 35 sub-terrains and given a custom LOD system and dynamic terrain output preforms.

Why I used planes in Unity
I used the prefabs of moving planes and also a stationary plane as I thought that they looked like spaceships/spacecrafts, which tied in with my story that I developed that included spacecraft and also the Mars theme.

3D Environment Evaluation
In Unity I made a 3D landscape, I made an enviroment by making different heights and a range of textures to make it look semi-realistic. I think I achieved making it look like the moon when it comes to the textures and the craters that I made to make it appear to be the moon and I added in shading around the edges of the craters which adds to realism a bit using a black seamless texture that I found on the internet, however, when it comes down to the medium sized mountains I think that it kind of turned into something else. I also made a pool of water in a big type of “crater” with a strong current which aren’t on the moon. I also added prefabs (which are moving objects), I added in flying spaceships and also a moving car but they do sometimes get stuck on the higher mountains and also sometimes fall off the edge of the world.
However I did have some troubles using the platform, such as the controls when moving about around the screen sometimes I would find it hard to remember or forget as you have to hold down ALT when you want to move your perspective and move around and sometimes it wouldn’t let me move around or was veery slow.

Why I chose to build a world in Unity
I chose to build a world in Unity because I really like using the software, I think that its a great way to design a world that is so detailed and customisable. I really like the tool options on it as the textures are really handy for making detailed terrain and I like how you can change the size and opacity of the brush. I wanted to make something semi-realistic and something good that went with my story, I really enjoyed building world on there when we tried it for the first time and I thought it was fun, so that is why I chose to build a world.

Space Suits

A space suit is worn to keep a human alive in the harsh environment of outer space, vacuum and temperature extremes, they are often worn inside the spacecraft as a safety precaution in case of loss of cabin pressure and is mandatory forte wear outside. Spacesuits have a self-contained oxygen supply and environmental control system is frequently employed to allow complete freedom of movement, independent of the spacecraft.

-IVA suits are meant to be worn inside a pressurized spacecraft, and are therefore lighter and more comfortable.
-IEVA suits are meant for use inside and outside the spacecraft, such as the Gemini G4C suit. They include more protection from the harsh conditions of space, such as protection from micrometeorites and extreme temperature change.
-EVA suits, such as the EMU, are used outside spacecraft, for either planetary exploration or spacewalks. They must protect the wearer against all conditions of space, as well as provide mobility and functionality.

Environment Story
The story for my 3D environment.
Two teams of astronaut scientists go to the moon where they are collecting samples to find life after earth, instead they find a deserted area where a large crater is filled with acidic water, one team goes down to test the water, however, two members don't make it back after something drags them under the acidic chemicals when they went to test it.

My completed animation I made by drawing all 63 frames by hand and then imported them into iMovie where I edited it, overall I am happy with the outcome I wish I could have finished it as it would look a lot better and drawn the frames bit neater as it would have a cleaner and smoother look.
