“May Melqart and Eshmun deliver your land to destruction, your people to be deported; from your land. May they make your food disappear from your mouth and clothes from your body, oil for your ointment.”
Damn, nothing more romantic than destroying cities with your dress up and travel buddy.
I remember sketching this all the way back in dec, but decided to get off my lazy ass and 🇫🇮 recently bc I was tired of looking at it and I’ve been less busy this week. Anyways what better day to post Eshmun and Melqart than today. Maybe I can finally work on that Ashtart and Anat sketch that I’ve also been to lazy to 🇫🇮.

Eurocentric occultists who practice demonolatry and get most of all their information of the Middle and Near East from very flawed English translations of the already biased Bible. Wouldn’t be a bad thing if they weren’t shoving western occultism on a foreign ancient religion that didn’t respect maligned spirits, or weaponized Goddesses like Inanna or Asherah just to justify calling anyone associated with the Abrahamic religions sexist bigots.
I think one of the most frustrating things about this conspiracy theory that Lilith was an ancient Mesopotamian goddess that was demonized and erased is that it minimizes and erases actual Mesopotamian goddesses like Ishtar and Ereshkigal. People are out here throwing goddesses under the bus in the name of feminism.

IlDgn~goodol pals. Hopefully I can cease the lazy little doodles and post actual finished pieces. I have a few I’m too lazy to finish, and I get distracted and want to draw other things like ancientbl. I love all the gods and goddesses equally, but I do have to admit that I’m a bit biased towards the bread god.
Hc for personal lore. While Dgn has a father(Sky), El does not. He simply popped into the universe one day. And Dagan will often call Hadad, Hedwa. Bc I just thought it be a cute nickname.

It's been so long that I forgot how to spell their names. But I still adore the daemonIfrit pair.
Quirky silly Hc's for these wholesome little demons!
Abezethibod would kick an old man out of his wheelchair and force him to climb several flights of stairs to reach his heart medicine.
Both Ephippas and Abezethibod have a negative reaction score on Kiwi farms, and they both have more than 100 messages.
Abezethibod likes donating to watch towers. He also likes destroying ancient egyptians' monuments because he's anti-human and hates culture. Ephippas also likes destroying ancient monuments, but he makes sure nothing is left behind. It's not that bad if everyone does it ig.
Abezethibod was the real one who translated Sanchuniathon's writings into greek. Abezethibods translations were shit and he was better off pissing on Sanchuniathon's works and being met with way better results.
Ephippass likes brutally murdering mythical creatures and monsters. Serves them right because they're weak bastards. But he's unable to kill mythical beings that originate from the general area he was born in because a Al-Buraq is more baddass and based then a bitch ass pegasus. (Just rip its wings off, and it's a regular, dumb horse, lol.)
In their free time, Ephippas and Abezethibod force puppies to drink vodka and smoke cigarettes... I'm running out of bad things to list...

I have written 11 alternative endings for the Legend of Keret and only 4 of them are serious dramatic angst while the rest is just pure crack fic material.

It was a hard pick, but Maki deserves everything. I’ll find time to draw my other favorites like Nanami or Shoko… or that bastard Mahito…

Old draws I forgot about.
That which Mesopotamia god test are you test was boring as hell and I literally skipped through all the dumb questions.

Deity images I’ve compiled up of Kothar, Astarte, and Eshmun. They’re the best and Eshmun and Kothar don’t really have images of them so I took the time to dedicate a piece to them.(But the Kothar one is just a shameless self indulgent drawing.)
I love the lore between Eshmun and Melqart, like I can’t take it seriously when Melqart dies and the first thing The God of Healing does is cook a quill, which somehow manages to resurrect Melqart because he likes smells food. In a nutshell, basically.
I’m going to make a piece for Melqart and Pidray later.

Throwing these doodles out into the ether. Most of my designs for these deities are scattered throughout my insta(in spite of the notably worse quality) I should preface that their merely concepts for when I do make professional sheets, but that’ll be a while from now.
Anyways random note, when I was reading the Aqhat myth I had this stupid hc where the reason why Anat didn’t go to Kothar for a cool badass bow was because she has a habit of breaking all her weapons due to the hunts and battles she persistently throws herself in.(I love that woman so much she steals every scene.)

Because they’re all monochromatic they all blend in with each other and it makes for a boring look since it’s all just bleak colors(These guys aren’t fun to draw) except for Blot mouse, he’s a gem.
Small tip: When drawing multiple characters like this, completely abandoned the line art process. It is not worth it. Instead just make the sketch more cleaner.
