Anthony DeVito is a NYC based comedian from New Jersey. He has made many celebrity appearances on shows like The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
I love how his shows are so relevant to our culture today. He has his own take on topic relevant to the youth.
The video posted above is a small clip from on of his most famous stand up comedy shows.

Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski On Love
He states, “too much of what is called love, is fish love.”
People often say, “I love fish,” and then proceed to eat it. According to Dr. Abrahim, this is not love for the fish, but the love for oneself, and therefore one eats the fish to satisfy themselves. Similarly, when people say they love someone, they often mean that they love everything that they're getting from the relationship. Rabbi calls this love, “fish love.”
Real love is about giving, and looking into to the needs of the person you love.

Seville, Spain.
My family and I have always kept traveling very close to our hearts. We take try to take vacations as often as possible. A couple of years back, we travelled to Spain. My sister was very keen on seeing every touristy location on her list. When we went to Seville, a town in Spain, everyone was eager to see the castles and the cathedrals, but my mom and I had given up. We told everyone to continue without us, and instead we went to explore the city alone. We walked around museums and took a long walk on the cobbled streets.
We came across on ice cream parlor with the view of the entire market place. We just sat there looking at the town people, the tram, and absorbed the life around us.
I hold this memory very dear to my heart.

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India.
When I was 12 years old, I went on a camping trip to Rishikesh, India, with my siblings. To make the trip more interesting, we drove to the campsite. On our way there, my uncle stopped over at a bungee jumping site. I was so nervous, and wasn't expecting it all. I was told that this is the highest bungee jumping cliff in India. In no time, I was already standing over the cliff, with my heart pounding in my ears and wind blowing through my hair. There were 3 huge Australian men standing behind, waiting for me to jump. I felt like an ant in front of them.
I was the first one to go among all of us. When I jumped, I feel the free falling phase is the most calm I've ever felt.
With all the intentions to sound cliché, it was a life changing experience.

Coelho, Paulo. The Alchemist, 1988.
The Alchemist is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho which was first published in 1988. Originally written in Portuguese, it became an international bestseller translated into some 70 languages as of 2016. the novel follows a young Andalusian shepherd in his journey to Egypt, after having a recurring dream of finding treasure there.
When he reaches the pyramids, he realizes the treasure is back home where he first had his dream.
Over the years there have been film and theatrical adaptations of the work and musical interpretations of it.
The quote in the image is my favorite pick from the book. It is the novel I never travel without.

How to screw up a chocolate cake
Back at home, I have always been in charge of baking. However, for a change, my younger sister talked me into letting her take responsibility. Obviously, I was hesitant, as baking wasn’t her strongest ability. I decided to sit back and watch the situation unravel.
STEP 1: preheat oven
STEP 2: mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl - flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt
STEP 3: mix all the wet ingredients in a bowl - eggs, butter, vanilla extract, and milk
STEP 4: add both the mixtures and pour into baking tin
STEP 5: forget to add sugar and BAKE IT!
Enjoy your tasteless, hard, “chocolate cake”.

Ken Wong, Mistaken Identity. 2008, Oil on canvas. Mistaken Identity is the term given to what the girl in the painting is going through. The girl doesn’t like to be perceived as someone she’s not. I find the colours used very calming, putting me at a state of ease. The girl appears to be underwater, lost in thought, probably reminiscing about a world free of all worries and problems. She has created a barrier between her and the world, alone with the goldfish that may represent her thoughts. The balance of colours in the painting is very soothing. I feel like I can look at it for hours.

Lennon wall, Prague, Czech Republic. On my trip to Prague a while back, I took a walk with my family to the Lennon wall. Inspired by John Lennon, the wall features beautiful graffiti done by people from across the globe. I remember just sitting there for a long time with my coffee, trying to absorb the raw beauty of the wall. To me the wall signifies freedom of speech. People come and put their art on the wall, trying to permeate peace and love - everything that John Lennon stood for. The wall is always changing and evolving as new art appears over older ones.

KwangHo Shin, untitled. Oil on canvas. KwangHo Shin is an artist based in Seoul, South Korea. This is a mixed media painting, made with oil paints and charcoal. The key feature of his painting is the abstract face of the person. The faceless portrait, full of dark colours, is said to represent the ‘complexity of human emotions’. The faces are said to be beautiful yet menacing. People often see themselves in the portraits or even project faces of people they know. I really like this art piece because it’s very unique. The painting could mean something completely different to different people. I believe the best part about the painting is that it’s abstract and open to interpretation. I have often found myself and my deep thoughts in the way I perceive his paintings.

Grant wood, American Gothic. 1930, oil on beaverboard, Art Institute Of Chicago. American Gothic is the perfect example of being in the right place at the right time. When it first came out it certainly did OK. Magazines and newspapers reprinted the painting while it hanged comfortably in the Art Institute of Chicago but, with the onset of the Great Depression, it became something more to the people. It became a symbol of an unwavering spirit in the face of adversity, celebrating the struggling Midwestern Americans who held their own during desperate times. So naturally, with time, it became the most satirized piece of popular culture in the U.S. The artwork is popularly known for being one of the most parodied paintings of all time. It has many comical versions ranging from 'The Simpsons', 'Muppets', 'Star wars', barbie and ken, 'spongebob Square pants', 'The minions' and even 'Alice in wonderland'.

Start With The Boys. Directed by Vinit Mathew, produced by Alex Kuruvilla, 2014. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nj99epLFqg 'Boys don't cry' - a video directed by the Vogue India team brings to light 2 major troubles facing not only Indian society, but several others - i) the stereotype that boys don't/shouldn't cry ii) domestic violence The video starts with a baby crying, followed by short clips of boys crying in the different stages of their lives - as a toddler, in his early teens, in his late teens etc. In one of the clips there's a young boy crying while the little girl sitting beside him is smiling at ease. This scene is trying to tell the viewers that crying shouldn't be labelled is 'feminine' or even 'masculine', it's just a way for someone to show their emotions. Towards the end of the video, there is a man gripping a woman firmly by her arm. His face is seen red in anger, when the camera shifts to the woman's face which is bruised in many places. It is obvious that she was a victim of domestic violence. In the last scene, Madhuri Dixit, a known celebrity in India, talks of how 'tough men' should not be taught not to cry, but to not make the women in their lives cry. As domestic violence is wide spread problem faced by women of many households, this video held a powerful message for everyone. However, the video did see some criticism - it was called sexist.

Frida Lahlo, fulang-Chang and I, 1940, oil on canvas, The Museum Of Modern Art, New York. Curated by Leah dicker man, Luis perez-oramas, and Veronica Roberts, the FULANG-CHANG AND I is one of the most famous pieces of the renowned artist Frida Kahlo. It was created between the period of 1930s-1940s. The piece features Frieda Kahlo herself and her spider monkey. The pet monkeys seen in many of her works are said to be symbolic of the surrogates for the children she and her husband, the artist Diego rivera, were unable to conceive. In 1938, Kahlo added a mirror to this artwork - when she decided to give it to her close friend Mary Sklar. The reason I find this particular piece fascinating is the thought behind the mirror that was later added to the complete the artwork. She chose to add the mirrors that whenever Sklar wanted, the two friends could be together. I found this gesture very poetic of the artist. I have personally gone to MoMA several times just to adore the beauty of the art and the story behind it.
