"...??" Clint glanced behind and just tossed Stark a glare when he looked back. "Wow. You really almost got me there, pal." He sighed, and readjusted his hold on the bow, not even bothering with any arrows at the moment. "Just so you know... I don't like how everything always comes back to bite my ass. We spare a God or two, and suddenly I'm the one watching them. Now, I'm supposed to help watch your back?? Gotta be kidding me..."

Tony's brows raised high, and there was just the slightest (but definitely visible) smirk at his lips. "Woah. Alright, getting a little defensive there. Though I guess that is a thing people do when they're scared, huh." He tossed whatever mechanical part he'd been holding into the air and caught it, tossing it to the other hand, just looking oh so casual. "Don't worry, Clint. I'll protect you from the big bad ghosts. Like the one right behind you."

"So....... You are Loki. Like... Loki-Loki." Clint gave him a short look, thinking it over so briefly, and just trying to piece this all together. Once again he was thrust into a situation that made no real sense, and it was hitting him pretty significantly. He smirked, wryly, and just looked ahead with a shake of his head. "Alright. Yup. This is happening. Mhm."

A short laugh leaving him, and he reached up to scratch the back of his head. Nervous. Annoyed. But more just done than anything else, at the moment.

"JUST great! I love when Fury, or whoever, THOR?? Just tosses me these issues, and expects me to accept it. Guess what? I didn't agree to any of this. What am I??? The glorified babysitter??? Does anyone realize I actually like have a family, too??? Okay. Sure- yeah. Give the God-Kid to Clint. He's good with kids! Yeah! Great idea!!"

He heaved an exasperated sigh, not even sure that he quite knew what the truth was (he wasn't the god of truth, now was he?). "I was born from that Loki, and he...exists. But he is not me anymore than a child is their parent."

"Shit...!" Clint fell against the metal beam, his heart racing a million times per second, and he knew he shouldn't stop in his tracks. There were good nights and bad nights. This just happened to be somewhere in the middle. His side ached, a large cut marring underneath the thin cloth, somehow angled perfectly past his leathers did a blade make contact. He cursed again, thinking back to how it was only an hour since that first encounter of the night, dealing with monsters left and right, and how he could've done things differently.

Now, he could hear the shadows whispering, and feel just a tickle of something in his mind. A shake of his head, and he snapped to attention, bow out in front as he aimed it with perfect precision on the looming target before him. One who had just been waiting, taunting by his mere presence.

"... Sneaking up isn't nice, you know."

"...-- really?... You need to talk to me?" Clint asked it, redundantly, but wasn't at all opposed to this being their interaction, for the moment. Loki tsked, tilting his head as he studied Barton through narrowed eyes. He certainly wasn't helping his image as the 'reformed' trickster by putting on such a hungry expression. He just couldn't help himself, though. There was still something so amusing about the fear in a mortal's eyes when speaking to him. Or did he just have to revel in it, rather than contend with the thought of still being reviled?
