of the many many metaphors in kill la kill i could probably write whole paragraphs on, one that really gets to me is the big stupid final boss fight being ryuuko, right after declaring her lesbianism, completely unshackled by shame and wearing a skimpy, sexually-liberating outfit made from the love and blessings of her friends, versus her evil fascist mom, the figure piece of a hive mind, wearing an oppressive, skin-concealing shinto wedding dress steeped in centuries of traditional femininity and nationalism.

i tend not to take museum photos of things unless i think i can take a good one, and this was in a glass case so it had a lot of glare, but the sargent exhibit at the met has the only know photograph of madame x before he repainted the shoulder strap and seeing that for the first time in my life made me feel like my body was made of static
