Lemonade Mouth is still iconic because it was the only one of the newer DCOMs that actually touched on topics not used in kid’s movies, diversity, dealing with the friendzone and being mature about it, following heritage, dealing with loss, getting used to step-parents, how fascist high schools can be honestly this movie was WAAAAAAAAY ahead of its time

Has anyone noticed that Megan thee Stallion is one of the biggest musicians out and there was very little news or social media coverage on her being shot and shot at multiple times...not even a single lil “thoughts and prayers” from any of the tiktokers that use her music daily or the brands still preaching of a Hot Girl Summer..across cultures, everyone let Megan’s identity and likeness impact them and across cultures, no one gave a single fuck about that woman. It’s so saddening. like I hope you all understand that at best, black women’s fame = them being a commodity, not genuine care. Like god imagine if someone like Ariana was shot by an ex/friend/anyone?? We’d hear about it for weeks and yet Megan barely got a drip of attention. And the attention she did get? Jokes. Thousands and thousands of jokes. It’s easier to find tweets joking about the situation or being a doctor checking out her ass as opposed to tweets of any concern, and there’s many tweets dismissing that little roach that shot her. It’s extremely disturbing and exactly what we mean when we say black women are seen as bottom of the barrel on this planet, not given a single fuck about (but taken from until they have nothing left ofc)

Popular white feminist bloggers on here are like “I’m an ally! I’m anti racist!” *police language used by poc to describe racism* *talk over people of color* *act like experts on racism but say the stupidest shit about it* *complains about the “”misogyny”” against white women and the “”homophobia”” against white gays enacted by women of color and gay poc calling them out* *ridicule and harass poc when they hear information about racism they don’t like* *overall do the same shit they were doing 5-10 years ago but this time with the guise of being anti racist*

‘He was my everything’: Boy who drowned in Brookings pond remembered for smile, generosity
The body of Molu Zarpeleh, 10, who was reported missing last Thursday night, was recovered from a privately-owned retention pond along 12th Street South around 8:40 a.m. Friday after authorities searched the pond, according to a new release from the City of Brookings.
A tip that Zarpeleh had been pushed into the pond that circulated on social media has been redacted by the tipster, said Chelsea Bakken, public information officer for the City of Brookings. Investigators also reported that tips they received Friday related to circumstances surrounding the incident were not true but won’t state why. Police are ignoring it and ruling it an “accidental drowning but his mother says differently.
“A 10-year-old boy would not just take his sandals off and walk into the water,” she said. “He didn’t know how to swim.”
Brookings police and the Brookings Fire Department searched for Zarpeleh until about 2:30 a.m. Friday before the search was stopped due to safety concerns, poor lighting and murky water, the release states. Searchers used pumps from Brookings Municipal Utilities and Brookings County to remove about 300,000 gallons of water from the pond during the resumed search Friday morning
“Molu died, but I can’t say ‘was’ yet,” Mole said. “He’s my first child. He’s my only son. I don’t want to use the word 'was.’ I can’t imagine him not living.”

Why is it that when Black people and people of colour have been calling out racism in youtubers for literally ever since they had a platform everyone would just call us over sensitive and unable to take a joke and aggressive and tell us we just need to get over it, but now the exact same people we’ve been calling out for years for this exact stuff are finally getting what they deserve because what, white people finally wanna draw a line? We are constantly dismissed and neglected when we voice our pain at how pervasive racism is in the entertainment and we were just told to shut up and take it in silence. What the fuck changed and why did it take so fucking long? It really goes to show how much people don’t give a shit about what we have to say.
People keep saying “it was acceptable to make those jokes then.” No it fucking wasnt. You were just a stupid white person who didn’t care and just laughed along because you were all as fucking racist as the idiots making those jokes and videos themselves. Accept that and take accountability for it instead of trying to dismiss these actions as a “product of their time,” because it wasn’t. We were always trying to tell you how hurtful and unacceptable it was, we were always calling it out. There was never a time we found it funny. You just didn’t listen because you were too busy laughing along. Black people and people of colour have never found racist jokes against them funny, we don’t think it was funny in 2011 and we didn’t think it was funny today. It’s always been hurtful to us and we’ve BEEN saying it but you never fucking wanted to listen when it was inconvenient to you and your comfort and entertainment. Black people have never found black face or police brutality jokes funny. Jewish people have never fount anti Semitic jokes to be funny. People of colour have never found racist jokes to be funny because these things have never been “racist JOKES” to us, they’ve just been RACIST.
Racism wasn’t funny to you because it was 2011, racism was funny to you because you were fucking racist.
