Teresa longed for an escape from reality and she felt that going to space might be the exact way to do that. She also thought that it would be an excellent way to escape her stalker ex-girlfriend.

Teresa Elizabeth Walker was the eldest child born to a loving couple just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. Teresa’s parents were a newly wedded couple in their mid twenties, her mother Rosa was a kindergarten teacher and her father Christopher, a luxury car salesman. The two met in university, falling in love and getting married soon after.

Teresa’s childhood was as normal as any, she was well liked in school, and had good grades to boot. When she was fourteen years old her parents had another child, a little boy named Zachary, who would eventually become one of her best friends, despite the age difference. In school Teresa was involved in a plethora of clubs and extracurricular activities, she was the captain of the volleyball team, she played a shooting guard on the basketball team and she was a student tutor for chemistry and biology classes.

When Teresa finally graduated high school she was named valedictorian and her parents couldn’t have been more proud. Unsure of exactly what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, Teresa used a grant she received from her high school to go into the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Biomedical Science and Enterprise, specializing in biochemistry at Georgia State University the fall after she graduated. Being less than four hours from home meant she could still have her independence but she also knew that she’d be able to come home any time she needed to. During her time in university Teresa worked part-time as a Starbucks barista to help pay for her living expenses while she was there. She was very studious and didn’t party much, this lead to her finishing her degree a bit early and at the top of her class no less.

After finishing her bachelor’s her plan was to go back and get a masters degree after working for a year to save up some money and apply for grants, however, on a trip home to prepare for her graduation ceremonies, tragedy struck.

While her and Zack were out on a little excursion, their family home mysteriously caught fire, trapping their parents inside. The fire department managed to get Rosa out of the fire but she passed away in the hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Suddenly, things didn’t seem so bright anymore for Teresa, she was all alone at 21 with her 7 year old brother and the family dog who had been outside during the fire.

Unsure of what to do and where to turn, Teresa spoke to a social worker that was on call at the hospital, who suggested putting Zack into foster-care. Teresa refused and both her and Zachary ended up staying with a friend of hers from high school while funeral arrangements were made.

After the funeral the two took what little they had left and moved into a small apartment in Georgia. Teresa immediately enrolled her brother in school and also picked up a full time job working as a receptionist in a medical clinic in order to continue taking care of him. She received a large settlement from her parents after their untimely death and she used this money wisely, only dipping into it when she had to or if there were large expenses such as school fees, vehicle repairs, etc. that she couldn’t pay for out of pocket. The two lived comfortably, sometimes dipping below the poverty line as a result of Teresa’s pride keeping her from using the money her parents left her. She felt like it was almost cheating at life. While Zack excelled in school she was always so proud of him, making sure that she was supportive of whatever he wanted to do was always important to her because that’s what their parents did for her.

Once he turned sixteen and went off to university she couldn’t have been more proud, using their inheritance to make sure that his dorm and anything else that wasn’t covered by his scholarship was paid for. Once Zack was gone it felt like there was another hole in her chest, just like the one their parents left.

It was at this point that Teresa felt stuck, she entered the dating scene, going on the casual date here and there until she finally thought she had met the one, although, the one for her was quite unexpected. Teresa had never identified as anything other than straight but after one night out at a club with this person she felt as though her entire world had found its center.

The couple spent a full two years together, but soon the constant phone calls and check-ins became less endearing and a lot more concerning, Teresa began to feel as though she couldn’t share any details of her life with them without being bombarded with questions about who she was with and why. It didn’t take long before their behavior got completely out of control, following Teresa to work and sitting outside for hours on end, constant accusations of cheating and lying, all to manipulate her feelings towards those of guilt and self loathing. Eventually, Teresa had enough, breaking off the relationship and promptly moving out of the apartment the couple had shared.

Things didn’t end there though, they on top of being an ex, they were a stalker too, constantly blowing up Teresa’s phone and following her everywhere, eventually it lead to her getting a restraining order and moving outside of the state. She eventually spent the next eight months running from them. Constantly on the move to avoid them getting her address, then one day the calls and messages finally stopped and Teresa felt as though a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. But she also felt more alone than ever, having pretty much lost contact with her only sibling and moving states away from her friends.

It was during this time of moving around and trying to get back on her feet that she ended up discovering the Minerva Project. She thought long and hard about sending in her application, she was scared of the unknown but also excited by it. After a long night of drinking she finally applied.

Teresa is a person who is unapologetically herself. She is clever and almost as intelligent as they come. She is an emotional person which she hates since she likes to be in control of herself and the situations around her. She feels everything very strongly which can lead to her holding grudges despite how laid back she tries to be. Most often people describe her as being funny and relaxed but she can also be quite intense. Teresa is very guarded when it comes to talking about herself, she doesn’t feel like she has anything worth talking about and even if it is, it stings too much for her to even consider it.  She is a fiercely loyal friend and a passionate lover, she is also a very dedicated and head strong person when she sets her mind to something.

She has a cat named Floyd that she’s had since he was a kitten, after her break up she wasn’t used to an empty house and decided to get a pet. Teresa is a dog person but on her way to the shelter she saw a bag on the side of the road with a lump in it. Having a weird feeling about it caused her to stop and look inside, she found a tiny six week old kitten who after nursing him back to health became her best friend.
