A Halloween children's storybook, written and Illustrated by Yasmin Erwan.

"Who doesn't like Halloween? Dressing up, getting candy, and most importantly, having fun. But one boy is different than most, he's scared of Halloween!

Is Halloween really that scary? Casper's mum and sister think otherwise. Follow Casper and his family's adventure in trick-or-treating and learn a little about the history of Halloween."

Concept Design Assignment 02

The design for Detective McArthur’s office is based on the late Victorian and Edwardian era, with a European setting, focuses on conveying the story of a struggling detective investigating a case.

The interior is heavily inspired by detective/mystery noir film sets, particularly the office area. Key elements include shutter blinds, vintage furniture, an investigation board, and clutter to give the room a “lived-in” feel and add personality.

Concept Design Assignment 01

The story is set in the early Edwardian era and revolves around a detective investigating a missing children’s case.

McArthur’s design draws inspiration from detective and police uniforms from the Early Edwardian era, with the aim of creating a realistic yet uniquely progressive character.

Despite facing discrimination and judgment for being the only woman police officer in the department, she takes pride in inspiring other young women. Her appearance is clean, pristine, and feminine, emphasizing her professionalism and strength.

For Detective McArthur’s props, functionality is prioritized, as she is equipped with a magnifying glass, police badge, and a leather sling bag for her casefiles.

Stages of death

A series of artworks exploring the different stages of death. In order of appearance;

I Pallor Mortis; An after-death paleness that occurs due to blood loss and the heart that no longer beats.

II Algor Mortis; The change in body temperature post-mortem to match the ambient temperature.

III Rigor Mortis; A post-mortem change resulting in the stiffening of the body muscles.

IV Livor Mortis; The gravitational settling of blood in the body after death, causing a bluish-purple discolouration of the skin.

There has been a rise in missing children's cases and Detective McArthur is assigned with said cases by her sexist police chief. He thinks it's a simple case that any woman could solve.

She is irritated by this because her peers don’t take her seriously as a detective.

Our clever detective stumbles upon a glowing portal made out of tree bark that sprouted out from the concrete. Could this be the reason why so many children are going missing?

The Orphanage

A detective is assigned the mysterious unsolved case of missing children and will stop at nothing to find them.

Detective McArthur is an intelligent, brave, and dedicated police officer. As the only female officer in a workforce dominated by men, she faces all kinds of discrimination and challenges. But she never lets it bring her down and aspires to be an inspiration to other women.

After many restless nights filled with research and investigation, it is revealed to McArthur about the existence of fairies and mythological beings. In her particular case, there lives an evil fairy mistress in a fairy dimension who kidnaps children, leading to the puzzling disappearances.

It’s up to our detective to find a way to get to the dimension and bring the children back home.
