Tove grinned back, and the air around them seemed to get a little warmer.
Several things happened all at once. First, that dizzy, excited feeling filled CJ from head to toe. Second, a little tattoo appeared on the inside of his right wrist; a little blue jay mid-flight, and third, Tove seemed to get a lot more glowey… but that could have been unrelated.
She looked him over, grabbing his face in both hands and squishing his cheeks. “Did it work?? How do you feel??”

Tove felt her heart melt a little, and she returned the hug, kissing the top of his head.
“I know you will.”
She gave him a little extra squeeze, then pulled back and grinned excitedly. “Okay okay! I have already decided what gifts I’m going to give you. All you have to do is accept my offer. So, Cooper Jaybird Crawford, Will you be my champion?”

"No, no no, cmoooon." She pulled her back into the room, throwing open her closet.
the mess was... terrifying. There were clothes stuffed into every corner, nearly exploding out of it. Everything from casual clothes to party fits... even a few formal gowns.
