I agree so much with all this!
no bracelet on her through s4 before subway was a screaming telling sign! The beads of their love with Diego were long gone by then
If the bracelet was love
If the bracelet was supposed to be a symbol for love, it's actually a hugely original hint at how Lila felt throughout the series.
Lila had a love interest in Diego. And she "stole" his feelings for her. The bracelet is on a weak elastic band and if it breaks, the beads will spill out.
Lila shows her feelings (bracelet) for Diego during S2. Also, Handler comments that Lila has fallen in love with her target, because she's wearing a bracelet.
Loss of bracelet - loss of confidence. Lila's feelings are confused in the S2 finale, and Diego is starting to realize his.
Diego "returns his love" to Lila and chooses her in S3.
Lila wears the bracelet again, accepts his love and shows her feelings again. Interestingly, Lila always wears Diego's bracelet on her left wrist.
Many years later. Five gives his love to Lila in S4.
She accepts his feelings and shows her own (that she wears the bracelet). She wears the bracelet on her right wrist. The bracelet is made of strong material and thoughtfully intertwined.
Diego reveals Lila's love for Five. Lila kept the bracelet, confirming her feelings for him.
Diego is confused and thinks Lila doesn't wear bracelets because she didn't keep his bracelet, which he later gave her. It's as if Lila doesn't accept his love by doing so. She also probably didn't wear the original one from him later in marriage.
At the end, Lila has long sleeves and "her love" is not visible, but that doesn't mean it's not there. It is also interesting that Diego is again on the left side holding Lila's left hand and Five is on the right side holding her right hand.

Cut Your Teeth, by Kyla La Grange
Didn′t I warn you not to? Didn't I warn you good? Maybe we couldn′t help it Maybe we never should Didn't I say it slowly? Didn't I make it clear? Is it unfair to ask you Why it is you′re still here? You cut your teeth on the lack of answers, singing Come back home and it don′t feel the same Well I bled words onto a page for you And you never knew my name Didn't I make it harder? Didn′t I leave you there? Was it too much to ask you Why it is you still care? You cut your teeth on the lack of answers, singing Come back home and it don't feel the same Well I bled words onto a page for you And you never knew my name Come, go, break your bones They cut you up and never let go Swing low, play your show You call your mother say "take me home" Lights, smoke, don′t say no Another man down if you let them know You cut your teeth on the lack of answers, singing Come back home and it don't feel the same Well I bled words onto a page for you And you never knew my name Cut your teeth on the lack of answers, singing Come back home and it don′t feel the same Well I bled words onto a page for you And you never knew my name And you never knew my name

Treating injuries - making it realistic
This isn't a writing hints blog. I'm just someone who's life outside of my niche feral corner of the internet happens to have a specific set of skills and knowledge that mean I have some inside information on this. No, I'm not in the mob or anything half as fun... but just some little things to think about next time you want to treat an injury in fic. (Or, to be honest, on screen, beacuse DAMN even in canon across multiple fandoms and media some shit is straight up wrong).
So, just some of my rambling thoughts about making things realistic
Wounds
Infection is the thing that is going to cause the most problems. Especially in a post-apocalyptic/survival situation without access to the normal meds that would be used. Clean the wounds. Lots. With copious amounts of cleanish water. There's no point trying to close something still full of debris and dead tissue. Get all that out or in three to five business days, your character is going to have a big problem. Of course, this works as an excellent plot device for wounds that a character doesn't initially declare
Superficial wound closure
Sutures. Sure, the image is good, someone sewing the other one up. But getting them right is HARD. Just the technical skills to place a skin suture are a lot more complex than you'd expect. From selecting the size, material, needle type (see above - just use staples!) to the appropriate pattern. Sure, a thrown in knot most people could manage, but it'll likely be too tight and the wound breakdown within a couple of days.
Surgeons can perform a one-handed tie. But suturing yourself one-handed? Not going to happen... don't make it happen (looking at you canon...)
Most suture material comes with the needle pre-attached (swaged on) so no need to thread it. By far the easiest way to manage is to use needle holders to drive the material through. This has the added bonus that if you don't have sterile gloves, it keeps grubby hands away from the wound as much as possible. Remember the infection stuff I mentioned? No hands. And definitely no licking the suture material to thread it through the needle...
To suture properly you need forceps to hold the skin, needle holders to drive the needle through and scissors. (Some needle holders have blades built in, very handy). Unless a wound is under six hours old, you are probably going to want a sharp blade to do some debriding as well.
So with all that in mind?
Staples.
I'm going to say it once. And then once more for the people in the back. Just staple shit. They're quick, easy and require very little technical skill to place. If I was packing a doomsday go-kit, staples would be in there. They will need to be removed 7-10 days later (wound dependent) but are a good go to for most superficial skin wounds. They hurt like hell going in (strong believer in not doing anything to a patient I wouldn't to myself so I've stapled myself) but it's quick and over with.
Add in any foreign material to a wound (sutures and staples included in this) increases your infection risk. So does this wound need to be closed or can it be kept clean, covered and left?
Deeper wounds
The body has layers. The deeper the wound, the more layers are likely to be affected, and the more will need to be closed up on the way out. Just closing the skin on a deep wound is like giving a car a new paint job when the engine is bust.
Cavity wounds are BAD because of the potential for internal organ damage, bleeding, sepsis etc. Try and avoid if you want someone up and about on their feet again quickly! Especially penetrating injuries like stab wounds. Can puncture an intestine then without intervention you're dead within a few days. A thoracic injury can lead to a pneumothorax. Again - useful plot point if needed, but not if you want them to survive!
Just looking at the abdomen, from surface getting deeper you will encounter: skin - subcutaneous fat - fascia over muscle - muscle belly (can repeat up to three times depending on area) - peritoneum - abdominal contents.
The strength holding layer is usually the planes of fascia between/around the muscles, so to close properly, you need to close these as well.
Making wounds survivable with limited supplies
Stay away from the cavities. Shoulders. Upper arms. Thighs. All nice and dramatic, but unlikely to be fatal with some decent first aid. Know where the major vessels are (armpit/groin/neck) and try and avoid injuries around there unless you are aiming for a kill shot. Anywhere you can feel a pulse is going to be close enough to a big enough vessel to cause problems.
Pressure and packing. Don't lift the bandages away to assess the wounds. Hold them on there and wait to let things clot. Arterial bleeds will be red and pulsing, venous will be darker and oozing. Venous bleeds usually need less attention in terms of surgery, so again, think about survivability (or not.. your blurbo, no judgement here if you plan to kill them off)
Happy to do more of these if people are interested. The brain needed to rant it out...

She's such a pistol.
Looking into her eyes is like looking down the barrel, your heart is pounding in your ears.
Feeling her skin is like hearing the gun cock, you can feel the sweat beading down your temples.
Hearing her moan your name is like hearing the gun go off, the sound is so intense your ears echo.
When she finishes, tightening around you, is like the pure adrenaline of your brain trying to make sense of what just happened.
When she looks you in the eyes, with her mouth parted as you climax inside of her, is like realizing that the bullet missed.
Lying next to her in a breathless daze is like realizing you’ve escaped death, having a second chance at life, the euphoria and thrill still lingering on your tongue.
She’s such a pistol.

Lily Dear!
One of my favourite poems keeps getting into my head lately somehow picking up on the mood of Five's feelings towards Lila.
Mayakovsky had a rather complicated love life with his own married Lila (Lily) involved 💔
Found an official translation into English - it's a tough one to read, but you can listen to the original version put in a song by Splean to catch the rhythm.
Vladirmir Mayakovsky Selected Works in Three Volumes Volume 1 - Selected Verse Raduga Publishers 1985 Translated by Dorian Rottenberg
Lily Dear! In lieu of a letter
The room’s a chapter of Kruchonykh’s Inferno. Air gnawed out by tobacco smoke. Remember – At the window, For the first time, Burning, With tender frenzy your arms I’d stroke.
Now you’re sitting there, Heart in armour; A day, And perhaps, I’ll be driven out, To the bleary hall: Let’s dress: be calmer, Crazy heart, don’t hammer so loud!
I’ll rush out, raving, Hurl my body into the street, slashed by despair from foot to brow. Don’t, Don’t do it, Darling, Sweet! Better say goodbye right now.
Anyway, My love’s a crippling weight To hang on you wherever you flee. Let me sob it out In a last complaint, the bitterness of my misery.
A bull tired out by a day of sweat Can plunge into water, Get cooled and rested. For me There’s no sea but your love, And yet From that even tears can’t wrest me a respite.
If a weary elephant wants some calm, Lordly, he’ll lounge on the sun-baked sand. I’ve Only your love, For sun and balm, Yet I can’t even guess who’ll be fondling your hand.
If a poet were so tormented He might Barter his love for cash and fame. For me The world holds no other delight Than the ring and glitter of your dear name.
No rope will be noosed, No stairwell leapt in. Nor will bullet or poison take my life. No power over me, Your glance excepting, Has the blade of any knife.
Tomorrow you’ll forget It was I who crowned you, I Who seared out a flowering soul. The pages of my books will be vortexed Around you By a vain existence’s carnival whirl.
Could my words, Dry leaves that they are but, Detain you With throbbing heart?
Ah, Let the last of my tenderness carpet Your footfall as you depart!
1916, May 26. Petrograd
These last lines always kill me in all languages 🥺💔

Fivela Appreciation Week 🍓 Day 5 - favorite canon moment
I love angst, angst loves me.
There are quite a lot of canon fivelila scenes that I love with all my heart, but there's just something so special about their last scene on the subway for me. The way Lila makes such a difficult choice, the way Five runs to comfort her, the way she clings to him crying but at the same time says she hates him for it, the way Five says "I know" and gently rocks with her...
