best mando&baby content is when people make them do normal dad n kid things but in space. the baby is a 50 year old frog but he still draws on the walls of the razor crest and has a little plate of baby food to eat. mando still rocks him to sleep like he’s a regular dad n not this infamous bounty hunter/galaxy knight in sick chrome plated armour. the baby is just a baby and mando’s just a dad but they’re in SPACE. that’s peak star wars

people on here give yoda a lot of shit and say that he was a bad mentor but i’d like to contest that Yoda is and has always been cool as hell and the real problem was that in the days of the Republic he was forced into a shitty managerial position, where he had to worry about paperwork and massive unauthorized clone orders and vetting chosen ones and shit like that when really all he wanted all along was to be a delightfully shitty impish little grandpa living in a hut giving cryptic advice to teenagers 

Like remember that episode of the Clone Wars where the jedi council finally tries to put yoda in a retirement home because he starts talking to Qui Gon’s ghost and yoda calls anakin over like “hmmm…. friends, we are, young skywalker. help me escape this silly place, you must. in it for you, a handful of Werther’s Originals is” like that’s who Yoda is, at his core, and the stifling weight of Force monk bureaucracy took that away from him

i think darth vader is the funniest star wars character because he's so stupidly unrelatable to pretty much everyone. when he was in kindergarten, thinking the giant talking slug who owned him might eat him for fun was a legitimate and reasonable problem for him to have, and it's only downhill from there. one of his problems is legitimately weighing if he can die out of the eternal service he swore to his sith master, or if his sith master who once professed that the dark side holds the secrets to stopping death could chain his horrible soul to his rotting body and demand his eternal service be truly eternal. that's a problem he's got. it's not even his weirdest problem, it's just one on the list. you know what other problems he has? trying to navigate getting forcibly turned off like an evil RC car, because his boss installed an off button in him. you know what problems he doesn't have? trying to figure out if he really wants to eat ramen tonight, or if he's actually out of bodywash or if he's good to shower tonight. he's the most unrelatable dude in the whole series and he's even unrelatable to other people in the series, because living through a cool dunk in a river of fucking lava also doesn't happen to people in star wars very often either!

happy garbage family AUs should be like a gauntlet of "holy fuck we were too young for that" and let me explain:

when the twins are born anakin's other crisis, and the crisis right behind that one, gets interrupted by the new crisis of realizing his kids are the first of his blood to be born free. no matter what happens, they were always born free. imagine holding a helpless, sleepy infant that needs you for everything and viscerally knowing that at this time in your life, just twenty minutes old, someone was taking you away from your mother to implant a bomb beneath your skin to control you, because you were property. bonus points for obi-wan holding a squishy helpless neice or nephew and having that moment where his stomach bottoms out because he's realized the same thing.

and i mean honestly for the first nine years anakin kind of dominates the game, but i really want you to think about sweet uncle obi-wan balancing a three year old luke on his hip while luke is wailing and luke's been wailing for about twenty minutes - and obi-wan has a stray thought that anakin didn't exactly have that freedom to be a kid, did he, because if he were loud or intrusive or demanding that was grounds for harm. don't think about obi-wan trying to chase down a giggling leia and thinking that anakin wasn't safe enough to do the same. don't think about anakin being ruthlessly cavalier about it in a way that's not great. however, do think about the two of them hugging, i think obi-wan and anakin should hug

obi-wan trying to babysit thirteen year old twins and knowing, now, how fragile kids really are and how much they really do need praise and care - especially sweet baby luke, who gets ELATED when he's told he's done a good job and is on cloud nine for the rest of the day. and he's there like wow maybe it was kind of bad that i was almost phased out of the order because i was told i wasn't good enough. and also that time qui-gon left me in a war zone, that was REALLY bad.

obviously ahsoka corners the market on "children who are too young for war zones" while the twins are ages 13-17, naturally, like leia cries when she's frustrated because she's a sweet girl who's fourteen and she's a kid, it happens. and ahsoka remembers doing the same thing, crying in frustrated tears, but it wasn't because she failed a test, it was because she was shipped off to a whole new campaign and a whole new group of soldiers died and she feels like it's her fault.

but also padme was the queen of an entire planet at age fourteen and she could only cry from stress at Regimented Allowed Hours, because she had to constantly be putting appearances and her work first. i'm a big proponent of padme going absolutely overboard trying to validate her kids' feelings because her political life was dominated by being strict with her own, and she has a particular weakness for skywalkers. i'm saying that luke is upset for whatever reason and then he and padme split a gallon of space ice cream watching space titanic to experience catharsis together. they're just bawling, but sometimes a good cry is stress relief, you know?

just, you know, the agonizing process of realizing that, yes, it was as stressful as you thought it was, but also, it was much much worse than that. a joyful agonizing process of realizing that you maybe got a bit of a bum rap. but it's okay because you're surrounded by a bunch of other losers who got a bit of a bum rap, too, and you can all collectively make sure that your baby losers don't have nearly as bum a rap as you did.

Stop saying Obi-Wan is a "dad" character– in the prequels he's a gay humanities professor that is chill enough to go for drinks with students and in the original trilogy he's your weird old uncle that keeps trying to get a weed prescription for "pain". There are no father figures in star wars because every character is neurotic.

I have no way to justify this or make it make sense but I do want a thing where Boba ends up out of the sarlacc and onboard the millenium falcon for some reason and he just sort of hangs out being really very unwell and giving them useful hints about the Empire while absolutely twisted on painkillers

thinking wistfully once again about the au where fox accidentally kills palpatine, and then the whole coruscant guard loyally weekend-at-bernies the chancellor of the republic around for three days, trying to find a way to fake palpatine’s public death in a way that won’t lead back to their commander before he can break out of the holding cell thorn has him in and actually turn himself in for murder to someone who cares.
