jaedpool:
Jaeden was actually calm for once, just sitting at the piano, playing random chords softly with her and Jess’ new puppy sitting at her feet. She heard footsteps approaching, “can I help you?” she called out when the footsteps stopped.
Mimi had been wandering down the hall when she spotted a dog through the open doorway. Unable to resist taking a look, she stopped in her tracks. When she heard a voice speak to her, she said “Oh, I was just admiring your dog. He’s very cute.”

“You too, Mimi.” She wondered if Carol knew her mother, but no one had mentioned it yet so that was probably a question better left to Carol. She wondered if she’d ever meet her. “Is your mom… here?” Tal got a little nervous at the thought of her being there, not ready. “Mar-Vell was…” Tal didn’t know the word for father of her mother. “I am related to him.”
“She isn’t. Not now, at least” said Mimi. She wished her mother was here. Considering the events of the past few weeks, Mimi could really use her moms. When she heard the blonde’s statement, Mimi raised her eyebrows in surprise. “You and Mar-Vell are family? That’s really interesting.” She smiled again. “Have you been at Paragon long?”

“When I was growing up, my grandmother would make mine. But now I just buy them.”

“Huh.” Was all she said before crumpling up the paper. Laura tossed it into the trash that was close to the girl, nothin but net, before looking back over at her. “Unlock and gimmie your phone.” She said holding out her hand with a bitch face on.
Mimi was deflated when the girl tossed away the flyer. And then confused when she asked for her phone. “Why do you want my phone?” she asked. She held on tightly to her purse, where her phone was stashed.

talonvell:
Ever since Talon learned that people on Earth bared their teeth as a sign of geniality, she found herself comforted by them, often mirroring one in response to theirs like she did then. “I know she is… Car—Car-ell?” A brief look of confusion passed through her features but they softened. “Talon-Vell,” she introduced herself in return. “Did she ever mention a man named Mar-Vell?”
“Yes. Carol Danvers” said Mimi with a nod of her head. From her pronunciation of her mother’s name, Mimi was guessing the woman wasn’t from around here. “Its nice to meet you, Talon-Vell” said the brunette. Then, nodding her head again, she said “Mom has mentioned Mar-Vell before. He was a really good friend of hers.”

“ then why did you say it? “ the young goddess tilted her head.
“Natural curiosity” said Mimi. “Things happen. I try to figure out why they happen.” She shrugged. “Besides, that was a more interesting idea than the reality that our school just isn’t built for so many people using hair styling tools all at once.”

Looking at the flyer, Laura picked it up read the tacky but informative flyer. She loved animals, may have risked her life while on the streets to help a dog get away from kids throwing rocks at it one to many times but hell. Worse things to get bruised up for. “Yeah? What kinda hours are you looking for?” She asked, seeming uninterested.
Well, at least the girl hadn’t ignored her and walked away. Or worse, called her something rude. Mimi hated when that happened. “Its very flexible, because so many of the volunteers are students. The shelter is open 12 to 8 during the week, and 10 to 8 on the weekends. Hopefully you can squeeze us into your schedule, even if its only for an hour or two a week.”

Tal would rather fight an army than come up to a stranger and try to talk to them. “Hey!—uh,” she said, walking up to Miriam. “Are you… is, um, is your mother Captain Marvel?” Mother. That was what they used right? Father. Mother. Tal couldn’t really distinguish when to use which one and then the variations of ‘mom’, ‘dad’, it only served to further confuse her.
“One of them is” said Mimi with a smile. “Do you know my mom?” She hoped the woman wasn’t looking to settle some kind of score. Her mother had gone up against quite a few supervillains, and it was possible the blonde was related to one of them. “I’m Mimi, by the way.” Although she supposed the other woman already knew that.

“Yeah, trust me, that would take even more time and patience, and honestly, I don’t know how these people do it.” She laughs, shaking her head. “I don’t have schoolwork, I mean, I still have a number of papers to grade, but other than that, I think I am good in that field.”
“I think its just so hard because this is my last year” she said. “So I’ve got to finish my thesis and its killing me. I can’t even imagine hanging around and doing a dissertation.” She smiled. “Well, that’s good. I mean, grading papers sucks. But its better than having to write them.”

“Messiness. I hate it in other people, but its one of my own worst qualities. During my time as an undergrad, I had a roommate who was always leaving her stuff all over the room. It drove me nuts. Never mind that I do the exact same thing.”

“Same here as a human myself. My family is the most important hing to me and I’m not going to allow something to happen if I have the opportunity to something in their benefit“
Mimi nodded her head. “I think that’s the hardest part of being a hero. You can’t always do what is best for your family. You have to do what is best for everyone. It makes me wonder how my moms did it.”

“You ask me as though I would know, Mims.” She points out and laughs softly, shoulders shrugging. “I am sure that you’ll somehow make your way out of that coursework, one way or another.”
“I suppose I should just be glad I didn’t decide to go to med school or into a field that requires a PhD” she said. “How are you managing with your schoolwork?” Mimi wondered if Ariel had been able to keep on top of everything while Naomi had been missing. She didn’t want her friend’s semester to be made even worse than it already was.

“I agree with you that, but sometimes I feel the effort im giving is not working.. Most people here seem more focused on whatever is going on personally than whats going on around.”
“I think that’s all people, not just the people around here.” Mimi sighed. “Although I suppose its only human to be affected by whatever is going on in your personal life. I know I tend to put my family first.”

Mimi was passing out flyers for Helping Paws. “Hey” she said, waving a flyer in front of a girl who walked by. “We could always use more volunteers down at the Animal Rescue League.”

“Why did I decide to go to grad school? I mean, I know its pretty much required for what I want to do for a living, but I’m never going to actually make it into the workforce if I’m literally buried under a pile of coursework.”
