Marmalade breakfast this, you wear fine things well that—the REAL moment that Edward Teach fell head over heels in love with Stede Bonnet was when Stede suggested negotiating with the Spanish in ecclesiastical Latin.
Ed: ...Well, I HAVE to fuck him now.

"THEY OWN THE MONEY"
"The sponsors are all pulling out of the show." "But our country legalized same-sex marriage already. I don't get it." "Even though most people are okay with it, not everyone is. Especially not the conservatives. Most importantly, they own the money."
In episode 8 of "The Ex-Morning," Phi and Tam's rekindled relationship is outed online, resulting in the loss of all of their show's sponsors.
I loved the inclusion of this discussion because it recognizes the milestone of progress that marriage equality was, but it also reminds viewers that—as in most countries—a lot of the power still rests in the hands of bigoted conservatives who control the flow of money.
And also…
Even though Phi confirmed it to the public rather than hide, the buzz of him doing it is what attracts sponsors back.
It's not like their love moved hearts and minds. It just got people talking enough that sponsors want to monetize it.
This buzz is likely why the board wants Phi back in his original spot as weatherman.
…And why Phi tells Tam he won't take it because he wants to earn his comeback. The career he had was only his through going viral due to something in his personal life, so I can see him not wanting a comeback under the exact same circumstances. I love the writing in this show. :')
This is why you can't paint all GMMTV series with too wide a brush. Some are shallow cash-grabs, some are deeply meaningful, some are delightful romantic comedies with social commentary tucked inside the lining, etc.
