An embarrassingly long introspection on the parallels and similarities between Jeremy Knox and Richard Gansey III (please fall for this propaganda):

Wanting something more than just the suffocating path their fake and polished families set out for them

Gansey hating the history his first name carries so he goes by his last name 🤝 Jeremy hating the history his last names carry and not wanting to go by either

Having to find out from a third source (Cody/Malory) in an entirely different POV (Jean/Blue) about Jeremy/Gansey’s dark times. Jeremy/Gansey hiding and ignoring and leaving out these dark times because they need to portray themselves as perfectly okay

Gansey calling himself a coward and stupid for when he abandoned everyone a few years ago. Jeremy thinking the same things about himself for his freshman year. Neither of them being able to see that they were simply just boys who needed help

They just love their friends so much. They will be the group leader a million times over despite how exhausting it might get because of the love pouring out of them

They don’t even see an option where everything in their lives and their friends’ lives ISN’T their responsibility to handle

Their never-ending mission to find that thing that will make everything that happened worth it ( @anxiouslyandmessily )

They view themselves so lowly on the inside

They would inconvenience themselves a million times over if it meant they could please other people

Gansey loving the hunt for Glendower because it makes him feel freedom 🤝 Playing Exy representing freedom for Jeremy

Jean/Blue liking Jeremy/Gansey more when they let their real selves show!!

They give everyone so much grace, and always will without fail even when they shouldn’t. But they would never even contemplate giving that same grace to themselves

Their bone deep exhaustion and just the lack of sleep they get. They’re so tired but they won’t sleep

The need to put on such a front and be someone so important (I really can’t stress this one enough)

Jeremy having The Captain Voice that can command an entire room. Gansey having The Gansey Voice that does exactly the same

I want to point out when Gansey was home he thought: “It was killing him to be here.”

Boys who inherited from their families their extreme distaste of showing the uglier emotions in public

Boys who genuinely cannot comprehend that people love and care for them as much as they love and care for others

It took close to two years for Gansey to show (Adam at least) he had anxiety which is just extremely on par with Jeremy

Both boys slowly start deteriorating (mentally) as their books go on because it becomes physically impossible for them to hold all of themselves inside anymore. In TRK Adam describes Gansey as “such a tattered version of the person Adam first met, and Adam couldn’t tell if Gansey was becoming someone different, or if he was returning to someone he’d already been long before.” I’ll bet you we’re getting something exactly like this in TBC but with Jean about Jeremy

The potential of getting a “And Gansey kind of wanted to live” moment in TBC!!!
