i am alive! i needed this weekend off to rest since after i returned from the festival on monday i went straight to work OTL fortunately this week should be fairly ok so i'll catch up with everything

in the mean time i'm finally at canto iv but i am currently stuck at dongbaek's boss fight... i love you girl but you gotta stop killing me </3

i'll eventually make a post about all of my thoughts and interpretations but let's just say most of my reactions during this canto can be summarized to i get why yi sang wants off i do

having read Demian the way they delivered it's message in the game is top notch. the seek of the self is inglorious and shameful by nature, breaking established taboos within the confinements of our inner worlds and the moral/ethical expectations placed upon the self is extremely daring to the individual and the other. to rebel from the norm and hope for peace is but delusion and Sinclair's distress and naiveté over it was very nicely done and the "birth" from the egg as well

having the two worlds expressed by robotics and humans is very on the nose but effective in it's message. in Demian the "perfect" is seen as replacing the less savory parts of our inner selves for this idealized version of what it constitutes to be human via religion or other means, while the true "human self" is censored and part of another world overseen by Abraxas. still this "perfect" is a comfort, a safety net and an origin, it's hard to strip away from it willingly much less gently, what Sinclair goes through in the game is but much more brutal and i enjoyed the hell out of it i can't wait to see how Demian will pay off later down the road (i mean even Dante manages to see him?? I'm eye emoji at that)

"Bloody hell, mate. You gonna eat that scran or just squint at it? Giving me a second hand bug in the gut." Heathcliff pauses in consuming his own meal- in this instance some thing with mashed peas on it- to judge Yi Sang's pace (or lack thereof) with his own.

The comment rouses him from introspection, it's not that the meal is unappealing, while on the road one can't be picky with what's offered, it's just that Yi Sang isn't as food driven as the rest. He can rejoice in the chance of something different or more finer, but ultimately it merely serves it's purpose to fuel him and not much else. Still, he can concede that the more their meals are shared, the more he has grown to enjoy the atmosphere and camaraderie it brings. There's a certain warmth to seeing his fellow sinners indulge themselves freely, chattering away and bounding over something as simple as a meal.

Yi Sang keeps to himself as always, choosing instead to observe rather than participate. But that doesn't prevent others from trying to include him.

"..." There's a pause as he looks between his plate and Heathcliff's, the stark difference between them would be laughable to the others for how is it that Heathcliff is half way through cleaning his plate and Yi Sang's is still nearly full. Perhaps he should take a bite to appease the sinner, but his wording had him worried the other may want more food.

With a simple push, he offers his plate to his fellow colleague. In their crew there were quite a few gluttons but it wasn't just from indulgence, as their job requires them to be ready for any circumstance. In the end, Heathcliff would need the strength more than him, it's more logical for him to have it.

"You may have it if you wish."

i'm starting to see a pattern that most want yi sang to eat and all i gotta say is DRAG HIM!! make him your grandchild that must clean the plate

this guy gotta eat (and he desperately needs company while at it) so take him out for a bite

how do you need to be touched?

gently.
