sometimes when i see hair ties on the floor i think too much
i think about the child who saw things the way i see them
and knew that they would never be as young as they were right then
and knew that they would never be as happy as they were right then
so they dropped their hair tie on the side of the path
hoping that their mother would know
and bring them back to that moment tomorrow
