What You Do To Me:
Grab my hand it's nothing more than play.
Just friendly games
Why did I make it more?
Said you love me in the night and you'd hold me tight.
You betray me with your darkness and twisted dealings but im still crawling back for you.
You know I could never stay mad at you.
I'm left with the bruises but your still the one walking out the door.
You leave me on the ground and my arms stretch out to you!
Did you love me or just make me feel enough?
If I drag my body to you will you still take it?
You even the score with deafening silence.
I cant take it.
I don't think we're gonna make it.

“For a suicidal person like Anne Sexton to have survived to the age of forty-five, seems to me an achievement, a triumph. Virginia Woolf, living to the age of fifty-nine, is even more extraordinary. Suicides are always judged as if they were admissions of defeat, but one can take the viewpoint that their having lived as long as they did is an accomplishment of a kind. Knowing herself suicidal as a very young girl, Virginia Woolf resisted—made heroic attempts to attach herself to the exterior world—as did Anne Sexton—as do we all. Why not concentrate on the successes, the small and large joys of these lives, the genuine artistic accomplishments? After all, anyone and everyone dies; the exact way can’t be very important.”
Joyce Carol Oates, from a journal entry

Here’s to hoping that every single person with schizophrenia or a schizoaffective disorder or DID or NPD or any other ridiculously demonized mental illnesses has a wonderful day

I wish I could tell my past self - you'll be less lonely by yourself than you are dating the wrong person. I was so terrified to be alone. I thought I had nothing good coming. That it would just be one long nightmare, and nobody to wake up next to. But I've been sleeping just fine. I'm not just good, I'm better without you.

i’m so thankful we’re alive to smell flowers and touch saltwater and get chilled in the breeze and take deep breaths and make foods warm with love and dance and laugh and move and wake up and dig our hands in dirt and eat strawberries and draw mindlessly and remember and sing and joke and walk down the same street again and again and make meaning. we are so lucky we get to be and feel and keep going

The positives of ‘putting yourself out there’ are worth it. Having a great conversation with a stranger will be worth the awkwardness of starting that exact conversation. Joining a small community of people you will see regularly is worth having to get through a scary first day. Getting your dream job is worth the scariness of chasing it. Don’t pick and choose experiences based on the level of ease now, but choose them based on how you want to come out of them.

A wonderful, long-time friend of mine passed away too young last year and this was his favorite quote, from Twin Peaks. Don't forget to give yourself a little present today.
