#trauma #youarenotalone
To the people that have been traumatized by violence:
I am a 16 year old Latina. I am a 10th grade student at Alain Leroy Locke High School and my name is Angie. I am writing you this letter because the amount of violence that happens everyday around the world is terrible and traumatizing for many people and not many people seem to know much about that. I want you to know that you are not the only one that has been through a horrible moment. I am also writing for the children, adults, and the elderly that have seen/experienced violence and have been affected by it.
I write to you for three main reasons:
1.      To inform you that you are not alone
2.      To not live in fear
3.      To indicate that after a bad event people start to act differently
More and more people experience violence and when someone experiences it they are or can be traumatized and that's how violence may affect a person. For example, when I was about 10 years old, my family and I lived in a cute peach house. We loved the house. We believe the neighborhood was nice and quiet. We moved recently moved there, the nights were filled with the noises of cricket singing and dark blue peaceful skies. One night was suddenly different, this night was filled with anger, screaming pains, and gunfire. The crickets were not longer singing the sky was no longer dark blue but black and cold. There was a drive by that night, next thing I know we are all on the floor afraid of what might happen next. An hour and a half passed and the police was outside pushing down the next door neighbor’s door. When the police officer is able to get in the house, I see a pool of blood and little children about the age 5 were crying and screaming like there was no tomorrow, and maybe to then there was really no more tomorrow because the pool of blood I saw was the blood of a family member of theirs. That was my experience of an traumatizing event and until this very day it still is. I was in shock because the idea of that neighborhood I had in my head was nothing the same after that night. The trauma I had was affecting my health because I had no interest in nothing for the past weeks that went by. Just imagine someone seeing a person get hurt in such a way. How would a person react or how would that affect them personally?
Everyone may react differently but they will all have that memory that has traumatized them. You may already know but trauma is bad for your health and it causes all kinds of problems. People suffer after that negative event, and how that affects someone personally is by them losing interest in what they once loved the most. You may know that you can’t  just turn away from that negative event and turn it into something simple like a saint that will vanish within a 20 minute wash.
To live in fear is not living life because you constantly think of ways to avoid going here or there to not to get into any trouble. No one should live that way because, it's just not the correct way to live. The truth is always and will always be in the way and the truth is that people live in fear due to the violence that goes around them and their community and ends up traumatizing yet another person.
Not many people know much about violence they just know the basics that it's bad, but I know it’s more than just bad it’s a huge problem that can target anyone and hand them a traumatizing memory. It is important that everyone has knowledge of violence to understand how it can seriously affect an individual. That's one reason people that have been in a similar situation as you can come together to decrease violence and trauma. In an article called “JCPS testified on students behavior to councils”, by Allison Ross states “By having everybody have the same level of understanding and knowledge, we can have that conversation” This asserts that it’s important that everyone has at least some knowledge of violence, so that less and less people are victims of a traumatizing event. For example, my siblings and I talk to each other to understand what we all have been through and they gave me really useful advice about how I can cope with the trauma. People like you will understand what you have been through and will give you useful advice I am sure of it.
 They do care.
I want you to be informed that you are not the only person that has been in a negative event. I believe violence is out of control and it’s a serious problem. I want you to tell other people you may know or meet that have been in the same situation as you that they are not alone. As I said before, I am writing to you because you should not live in fear due to violence you may see or experience. You are stronger than those negative events because you know how to cope with it and know you have people to turn to. I want to thank you and tell you I truly appreciate that you have taken the time to read this letter and I hope you have taken something from this that will help you.
 Sincerely,
Angie

Dear Mr.Green,
I am your student Demarea in your third period at Alain Leroy Locke High School. I am writing you this because I am concerned about violence and what it is doing to people. I am specifically writing to you because I feel you can help stop violence and make new rules to prevent violence. I understand that violence at Locke can get out of hand sometimes but that doesn’t mean to let it go on and not do anything about it. I have seen violence at this school many times and associate with some who participated in violence. Also i feel you should help more to prevent violence and stop students from getting hurt by each other. I hope this letter will motivate you to help more and to prevent violence because I am tired of my fellow students getting hurt and being suspended.
I am writing to you for three reasons:
1)To express my hate and anger to suspensions at Locke high school
2)To hold students accountable for their actions
3)To demand an end to school suspensions
Today there is school suspensions still going on at this campus and others.these students who participate in violence are getting suspended because they cannot be a leader and make there own choices. Not all students sit around and let violence go on some stop it right away or tell someone to help. All of this should help you understand that we need to stop school violence and stop school suspensions. I believe we have to stick together to stop this and remind each other we are a community and we all go to the same school.
Last week my friend was caught up in some school violence on the p.e field. We were playing basketball and some boys were trying to take over the court but,we didn’t move we kept playing ball. Friend chris bumped into one of them running down the court on accident and they started arguing. I didn’t want any problems or them to have problems but,i had no choice but to help and stop it because he’s my friend and friends help each other. Chris got punched in the face but did not use violence back against the other boy but chris still got suspended for trying to do something at the last minutes of lunch. I don’t think this was fair because Chris didn't do anything. They both got suspended for unnecessary violence.I believe that if Chris said excuse me or get off the court or if the boy moved out of the way this would have never happened and they both could have stayed at school.
You should feel bad because my fellow classmates, friends and family and your students are not being treated with respect on campus. Students at this school should be treated with respect to give respect. For example, people being disrespected are mostly the students at this school. This should make you feel bad because our school is losing respect and it's turning into violence and leading to someone getting hurt and someone getting suspended. A good suggestion is we should have more teachers participating and helping stop violence at this school because we can have a better school and people will feel even more safer and more comfortable. Also people want think of Locke as a bad and ghetto school that is just filled with violence. We can make people think positive and more people will want to attend this school if we stop violence and suspensions and stick with each other to make this school a better powerful school.

Why do you even come to this country?
Dear Donald J. Trump,
I am Otniel and I was brought to this country when I was young.    I left again when I was 9 because of family problems. I am a sophomore student  at Locke High School. I am currently part of Broadway Boxing Club every day after school. Many Latino and African american kids join. I am planning to compete for a medal during the summer. I care about my community a lot especially my Latin community. At the moment Latinos and Latinas are getting mistreated. I admit my country is not the best, schooling is not the best. Five hundred dollars for an education in high school but the worst is that is for each semester. Dirt roads, some houses are build with mud. Nobody likes to live like that, no welfare in Mexico and that’s probably the reason why Latinos are hard working. Illegal immigrants help this country, like it or not.
Your mother was born in Tong, United Kingdom and you said “Babies born to undocumented immigrants aren't u.s. Citizens” and your grandfather was an illegal immigrant that came from Germany in 1885 and became a citizen in 1892. Your grandfather should go back since Germany did not send him here. You want the government of mexico to send their people, and they have to be best but your family were once illegal immigrants. I don't get it, It's okay for your family come undocumented, but it’s not okay for hard working latino immigrants.   Why do you even come to this country? This question is towards illegal immigrants.
People ask this question a lot especially you Donald Trump. I answered this question but i will summarize it for you. Many people in mexico struggle but once they immigrate here their lives change. I would ask the same question to your mother and grandfather.
Not all illegal immigrants are violent. Ask your grandfather if he was violent or not, ask your grandfather if he brought drugs or raped. You shouldn't focus on just illegal immigrants committing crime. I see you as a selfish person that speaks without thinking about the consequences. You only care about your people, only your race. That's what people see, and hear when you speak. One important quote is “Their taking our jobs” something you said not so long ago, you talking about latinos taking jobs because we are hard working, you want what's good for the white people, that's why they want you as president.
You are racist. Feeling passionate because one of your supporters beat up a latino homeless man and you said “ They love this country and they want this country to be great again, they are passionate.” That is cruel and I feel disappointed because my people are getting disrespected and beat up because of you.
Your racist outburst aren't directed to just mexico, you are talking about banning muslims. It's like if you wanna ban the religion. Muslims not coming to united states because you think their terrorist, you are facetious, people don't know when to take you seriously. This is important because people need to open their eyes, remember that this is a free country. Banning because you think their bad in not right. Hitler went over this already with the jews and other people he didn't like.
Businessman or not, you still not important to people, you might think living in mexico is easy. Your grandfather immigrated here, there should be a reason why he moved from Germany. Donald without the billions dollars you wouldn't survive Mexico, criticizing people without knowing how it feels it's pretty funny. I was really broke at mexico from eating beans, and eggs to eating whatever I want. I sometimes don't feel comfortable living in this country because of the mean comments they say about illegal immigrants. This needs to stop.
