Aaawww THE BABIES! ♥️
Think I could talk about them for hours! I rarely see such realistic and deep portrayal of relationship in media. But this is Pantheon for you 😭 A couple faces crisis but overcomes it going through the worst time together. The way she told him not to bring her back because she just doesn’t want to live without that precious memories of him. Memories that made her fall in love with him again even harder. Because that won’t be her anymore. Always got me in a chokehold 💔
Also your style here just reminds me so much of Neon Demon!

Pantheon is the best for out of context spoilers. Raise the clone of the man you were having sex with it. End up as a 911 operator on a three way call. Divorce your husband in a leather bikini. Everyone playing Queen means your dad might still be alive. Die cause you were having sex in a car and got hit (this happens twice). Knock off Steve Jobs tries to kill your rice cooker baby sister with SurfShark VPN. Everyone in the show has their own DND persona (see above: leather bikini). We use the sun as a data center. Bowser. Salmon. Glasses case. I’m your sister, silly. Are you trying to solve the Middle East. Oh and the best thing is, the show is actually phenomenal.

So true. We could only imagine how much all this experience shuttered her mentally. What’s so great about this show, is that it never labels any of its characters just “good” or “bad”. It’s all about other people’s influence, which may ether bring out the best or the worst in a person.
I'm interested in the relationship between Stephen Holstrom and Renee. I headcanon that they were married, and she adored him. Renee had mixed feelings about Caspian. Obviously raising what was your husband/boyfriend exactly? That would be weird for anyone. Stephen's idea of cloning himself to preserve his genius came from Renee's suggestion to have a child together, believing it would be the best way to keep his brilliance. Initially, he embraced the idea, and they planned for a child with a luxurious lifestyle and an intense education. However, Stephen grew more self-interested and realized the potential risks of combining their DNA, which made him abandon the idea. Leaving Ranee Heartbroken, Stephen decided to pursue cloning instead. While she is determined to get Caspian right, she also sees him as a thief, believing he represents her failure to create the perfect child.

So so true 💔 Aside from Herb no one ever took her seriously. So she just learned to not take her self seriously too.
somber sarah lynn thoughts
I'm probably not the first to think this but it occurred to me no one cared about sarah lynn when she was alive and only started to care when it was found out how she died years later..
when she was 30 the media did not care one iota about sarah lynn she was seen as OLD/ washed up child music star who was out of date but when its found out who was with her when she died suddenly she's beloved Again.. . no one cared when she was alive to see what the problem was, , no one cared to look deep into why she was a drug addict. what could have caused the pain instead its just it's bound to happen.. and that's it.. . she died but people thought it was inevitable..
but suddenly years later people care about her when its found that Bojack didn't save her that he was with her and invertedly caused her death , suddenly her life is important again because of a man who failed to call 911 her life has value again not for the joy she brought with her music/acting but because of a man being taken down she's important again..
and her agency is again Denied. Sarah lynn addiction is blamed all on her male costar, she can't have agency over her adulthood choices , she already had no agency over her childhood, and in death her mother puts her face on billboards to sell sodas..
.. She was exploited in life and in death.. by her parents, by the media, bojack uses her death to try to keep his image in tact. Biscuits is using her for raitings , No one cared about Sarah lynn as herself they just saw her as Sabrina/ or the Addict but did anyone ever see Sarah lynn? her own mom can't even hold her photo correctly while pretending to care.. bojack was deluded and bascially just saw her as sabrina, but no one really cared about Sarah lynn the person..
I know this is just how media in general treats addicts who die too young and famous women that act out due to years of abuse are labeled as Crazy.. it's all just very bleak as her story is really just the story of so many child/music stars . .

It’s such an interesting take on Renee! I kinda headcannon her to be Holstrom’s personal assistant, or something like that. But she deffo wanted to have a child with him, and I think when they found out about him dying, this desire only grew. But of course he was too self involved to ever agreed to a kids, so instead she just had to raise his clone. Yet another interesting explanation for her inability to connect with Caspian.
Renee is soo disturbing and fucked, it’s fascinating. Not trying to justify anything she did, but, boy, did Holstrom mess with her brain big time! Whole this theme of raising a clone of your dead lover reminds me so much of movie Womb. Only Pantheon explores it in much more interesting way. I just love how the more you think about this show the darker it gets! Without even showing anything too explicit.

Oh their dynamic is so fascinating! And the impact it had on their “son”.
I can’t help but wonder, might Cary’s unconditional love backfire on Caspian in a way? It’s a good thing that Caspian at least had that, no doubt here, he apparently had happier childhood than Holstrom did, I believe we got direct hint on that when their baby pictures were compared. And it alone was a great foundation for him to become more self aware and empathic person compared to the original.
But on the other hand he definitely felt even more heartbroken and betrayed when Cary started to neglect and abuse him. Holstrom’s father probably just didn’t really interact with his son that much up till a certain age, neglecting fathers was pretty common thing back when he grew up after all. So he had to just bond with his mother. But Caspian was clearly more attached to Cary. It’s not that easy to fool a child, they sense a lot of things instinctively. So despite Renee’s best efforts to play a soft and supportive mom, he must have feel something was off. Like she might had snapped at him occasionally when he misbehaved, while Cary was more patient with him. Or when he was starting to look more like her dead lover, might sometimes gave him weird looks while got too lost in the memories or something, which deffo would made him extremely uncomfortable. And the drastic change in Cary’s, his favourite parent, behaviour probably felt like betrayal, and led to Caspian became even more closed up and distrustful as a teen than the original.
Idk, still I’m really heartbroken for Cary on such a dip level. There’s no taking back harm he caused to Caspian, but at least he tried to do his best to help and save him, not to seek forgiveness, but simply out of love for him. Maybe if it wasn’t for Holstrom’s influence, Cary would’ve been a great family man, wonderful father to his own children and a loving husband.
Love the unusual dynamic between Renee and Cary. Playing the roles of abuser and victim while in reality the one impersonating the victim is more ruthless and keeps her pretend abuser on a short leash.

Mid Pantheon spoilers probably…
I really love how clever Pantheon uses its soundtrack especially in Season 1. How music tells its own story and helps to dive into characters inner world. Some tracks made certain scenes just plain awesome like “Monster”, “How does it feel” and of course “Don’t dream it over”. Some just highlights cute and touching moments like when Ellen starts to sing “Alive” after her weird breakup with David, or Laurie tries to connect with Cody the first time after her upload through her favourite song.
And it so cool that besides just using popular and the most expensive “Mr. Roboto” and “Clint Eastwood” the show also helped pretty small and underground artists like GRMLN, Thomas Mudrick, Flat Worms, etc. to gain audience. And the favourite Laurie’s band When in Rome that briefly existed in late 80s and released only one record, such a hidden gem!
Also I kinda always head canon Caspian to love TV on the radio, and recently I just found out that its frontman Tunde Adebimpe voiced the guy from Logarithms who was annoyed by Caspian’s behaviour in S2E1. I dk it’s kinda crazy detail for me!
And I have noticed something interesting about Holstrom’s and Caspian’s music preferences after my rewatch. Holstrom is obviously a diehard Talking Heads fan. Ranting about the greatness of their sound was his go-to pickup line lol. And in case of bad writing Caspian would just be crazy about Talking Heads too. But instead he is more into contemporary math rock and maybe midwest emo, genres that took huge inspiration from Talking Heads with its polyrhythms and syncopations. Maybe it is a stretch, because it’s hard to find an indie band that wasn’t inspired by Talking Heads in some way or another…But still I think it’s pretty cool and interesting detail that not only highlights the difference between their generations, but also implies a subtle connection. Their taste in music is different but both of them still tends to like complex sounds and atypical rhythmic.

This, yes!
I recently watched Pantheon.
Non-Spoiler Thoughts:
I know I talk about Doctor Who a lot on here, but I do consume other sci-fi content—and I need to scream into the digital void about this show real quick.
So here’s the thing: Pantheon is brilliant. It’s existential and brain-melty and emotionally devastating in all the best ways. The concept is fascinating, the themes around technology, identity, and humanity are genuinely compelling, and the execution is mostly excellent.
If you haven’t seen it, you absolutely should. It’s only two seasons—about eight episodes per season—and it dives into some incredibly interesting ideas about uploading human consciousness, artificial intelligence, and even Cloud Intelligence (the merging of two uploaded minds into a single, new sentient being). It’s smart, bold, and deeply philosophical without ever losing its emotional core.
And best of all? It’s the kind of sci-fi that doesn’t talk down to its audience. It doesn’t spell out every idea with blinking neon lights or assume you won’t keep up. It respects you. It lets you sit with ambiguity, chew on complicated ideas, and come to your own conclusions. It’s not trying to be the smartest person in the room—it’s trying to tell you a good, thoughtful story.
And this is exactly the kind of adult-oriented storytelling we don’t get nearly enough of in Western animation. It’s mature not because it’s edgy or full of gore (though it does get intense), but because it trusts its audience to handle big questions—about consciousness, grief, memory, and what it means to be human.
Also? Some of the fight scenes go ridiculously hard. I’m talking close to JJK or The Legend of Korra levels of clean, fluid choreography.
⚠️However! This is not the most lighthearted show on the planet. It’s mostly a serious drama with heavy themes (some of which draw parallels to current events, some intentional and some unintentional), so if you’re not in the mood for that, keep it in mind before diving in.
I know there’s a lot going on in the world right now, and if you’re not in the best mindset, there’s absolutely no shame in putting this in the “watch later” pile 🫶
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That said… the emotional resolution didn’t quite land for me. And I wanna talk about why.
There’s a specific emotional thread the finale really, really wants you to care about. And while I understand what they were going for—and I think it could have worked!—I don’t think the show did enough groundwork to earn the weight it was trying to carry.
If you’ve seen it, you probably know exactly what I mean.
Spoiler Thoughts (Major Finale Spoilers Below): (I'm serious, if you wanna watch the show don't read the bellow, but I also can't physically stop you)
The show goes from zero to 100 really fast after the first season. The tone, the stakes, the intensity—it all ramps up dramatically. If you’re not ready for that shift, it can be a bit jarring.
I couldn’t find anything officially confirming this, but to me, the first six episodes of season two feel like a complete, self-contained arc. Then the last two episodes? They feel like the creators originally planned for a full third season but had to cram what would have been a whole season’s worth of story into just those final two episodes.
That kind of squeeze usually results in a mess—but honestly? This might be the best example I’ve seen of pulling that off. Despite the rushed feeling, I still walked away feeling like I got a complete story, with satisfying (if not perfect) resolution.
My only real gripe with the show is that the emotional climax of the series hinges on you being fully invested in Maddie and Caspian’s relationship. Like, the kind of love that would make them reset everything—literally all of digital eternity—just to meet again for the first time.
And I’m sorry, but I just can't buy into it.
They knew each other for maybe a few chaotic weeks combined. They kissed on a bus. They slept together once. The chemistry was there, sure, but restart-the-simulation-to-meet-again soulmates?? It feels a little unearned.
And it’s especially hard to swallow when you consider Caspian’s arc. This man lived his entire life not knowing he was a clone. Then he finds out in the most horrifying way possible. Then he spends the rest of his existence trying to forge some kind of identity that isn’t just “Holstrom 2.0.”
You cannot convince me that this guy—with that trauma—would go through all of it again just to maybe spend a few weeks with Maddie.
That being said… I do get why Maddie would reset. Like, she was a literal god for thousands of years? Just existing in digital omnipotence with nothing but memory and grief? Yeah. I’d hit the reboot button too. She was lonely, and broken, and clinging to the last good thing she ever felt. That part makes sense to me.
What really feels off is Caspian’s buy-in. The emotional core of the story hinges on him believing that resetting reality to relive a few weeks with Maddie is worth it—and honestly, that just doesn’t quite land for me.
The show has this amazing thematic premise—“a love so strong you’d reboot reality to experience it again”—but they never quite earned the emotional weight of it.
