Just finished reading always the fool with the slowest heart and I am screaming!!!!!! I loved it so much, you don't even know 😭😭😭 merman Touya is a sweetheart, he's just being Touya

I do have a few questions -

What do the mer call "love"? You hinted that it is something different (if you even intended to reveal it-)

The bit was a mating bite? Does it have any other effects than marking a mate?

Are the mer and humans compatible enough to create an offspring?

Did Touya accidentally beach himself before the reader came by at least once? I can't help thinking that it would be a hilarious situation (if you ignore the dire would-be consequences)

Can Touya come untouched if you play with his gills? How big is he actually?

And oooooh, questions you say 👀👀 I'll do my best to awsner them! These are really good, and honestly, I love being asked to expand on mer!touya - he's just so full of fire, even as a fish bahah!

When it comes to love, I feel like mer!Touya and his people view it differently then humans do and they also express it differently as well, but it's more of a cultural thing for them. Touya was able to pick up on how humans express affection through what Keigo was able to explain to him, and by also seeing it first-hand when spying on other human couples from afar, so he's not completely clueless about 'love' by the time he meets reader, and has at least a basic concept of it!

The bite was indeed a mating bite! It's more or less for other merfolk if they were to find their way into Touya's territory - it let's them know that reader has been claimed by another of their kind, and to back off if necessary! (It also works as a pretty good deterrent for human men as well - though they don't understand why looking at the strange scarring makes them uncomfortable 😉). The bite itself doesn't really have any other uses aside from putting a claim on reader - though admittedly, mer!Touya would be thrilled if reader were to bite him back, though he doesn't expect her to! Haha

Honestly, I don't know if merfolk and humans are compatible - I didn't think that far ahead! I'm going to go with science on this one though, and say that if mer!Touya and reader were somehow able to conceive, it may go one of two ways: the baby comes out horribly misshapen, or mostly human with some aquatic additions lol. I'm hoping for the latter in any case.

I feel like mer!Touya definitely beached himself at the begining at least once lol - probably by being a shithead and got suck on a sandbar near the beach when the tide pulled out. He probably thrashed around for a few minutes before realizing he could literally just drag himself back out to sea (he got very good at pulling himself along using his arms if need be lol 😂).

Oooh yeah, don't touch his gills unless you want him to be rough!! They are indeed an erogenous zone for him, which I think I may or may not alluded to when reader was brushing up against him! Now if reader were to slide her fingers up under his gills, he wouldn't like that, as that would be pretty uncomfortable for him, but if she's just lightly tracing around them... oh yeah. He's going all night, little to no breaks. He doesn't do well with teasing. 😉

Oh lovely, never apologize for taking extra time to write or edit. Writing takes time. It's painfully slow at times and sometimes no matter how you word something, it's just not right and doesn't sound how you want or picture in your head.
